I hope you enjoy the video, how are you all doing? I am currently getting ready to go and find if I won the Woman In Property Award. Wish me luck you all and shall I vlog?
Where did you upload google earth? I wanna upload it but Im afraid of virus. Can you suggest a way for safe uploading please? I love your works thank you☺️☺️
THis is 4 years old, but even then the following critique was valid. I only share this for other students that might be following this for ideas. The final result is ok, but it's really a substandard methodology, and more importantly, it's a dead end. It's dumb graphics, little better than markers on paper. Anyone needing to use that information for any other purpose will have to go through and recreate it all from scratch. A much better option is to use GIS software, such as ArcGIS (licensed) or QGIS (open source). You can then use the same imagery, bring in webmap services for other layers of data (that will already be geocoded) and use actual property lines to build the polygons for accurate zone polygons. It can look just as nice - and even nicer, and more importantly, you will have data that can be further used for ongoing management of the plan, budget analysus, engineering, smaller area planning, zoning, and so much more.
Thank you for your insights and I agree with the benefits of GIS software like ArcGIS or QGIS for spatial analysis and planning. While many students may not have access to such advanced technology, the method presented offers a practical starting point to grasp basic spatial analysis and planning concepts. It provides a simple way to visualize data, albeit with limitations. Your suggestion to use GIS software is valuable for those with access to it. It's crucial for students to be aware of alternative methods and tools for more advanced projects. Thanks for sharing your expertise and insights!
In my school, they refuse to print the posters if there are too many flat colored areas (is it the right term?) because it costs too much with the printers. So those master plans are impossible for me because there is no white, and no possibility to hatch the colored areas...
Thanks for this video. I appreciate it even though I'm not yet good at Photoshop. Anyway, do you have any methods of merging 2 technical maps in PDF format (Lot detail, Topo, to be exact. Obviously, the google earth maps to follow), because even if I merge them in PS, I just cannot proceed with the next steps. Thank you in advance
@@SurvivingArchitecture I tried Cadmapper, and I must be doing something wrong, because I just can't get it to give me anything useful... So frustrating that I can't get DigiMap
In GIS if you want your raster to be overlayed by a vector. The projection of each feature should be the same. Try to explore photoshop cc with extension of geographic imager. You wont regret. Try to explore also the illustrator cc with map publisher and add creative suite. Its the best application if you design urban map.
Im still in the learning process of discovering much in illustrator with map publisher. But your video give me insights on how to. Thank you. We'll keep learning.
I didn't do mine to scale as it was just a diagram but you can measure a line on Photoshop and check the scale. Alternatively, you can add a scaled drawing on top and align both.
@@SurvivingArchitecture I tried that, and just comes up with weird contour lines... I wish I could work out what I am doing wrong... I desperately need to do this for my Urban Planning PPT Presentation... :(
Thanks for answering, i must have been occupied with a coworker at the instant you mentioned that in the video. Thx for clearing that up without being offended^^

Can you use without the needing to sign up, it seems they're asking me what institution I'm attached to
Yes, unfortunately it is for sites in the UK and with university access. But, I have made a video explaining Digimap alternatives
You can substitute it with mapbox
Thanks for this
Your welcome my friend :)
Do I have to pay for digimap ??
Good luck for the reward!!... Nice content again!!... Fuzzy pillow are comfortable!!😂

Is there any alternative to digimap?
Yes, there is this website cadmapper.com/ it can even download skp files. I hope this helps :)

I think its best if you georeference the last image (road) before importing to Photoshop.
What do you mean by 'georeference'?

@@SurvivingArchitecture Thnak you ; )

I didn't do mine to scale as it was just a diagram but you can measure a line on Photoshop and check the scale. Alternatively, you can add a scaled drawing on top and align both.
