Hey guys, there's a new version of this tutorial! It has a lot more info and teaches a lot more stuff.
Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/T246OkFv9P0/v-deo.html
Valeu cara!!!!
This video is too good and I'm shocked its free. People charge a big price for the bare minimum and this masterpiece is absolutely free. God bless you for that🥰
There is also Google Map Customizer. Instead of outlining the road by hand you can use this page to just select road import in photoshop and magoc wand it to delete the gaps between roads. It-s much faster.
But this helped on the General aesthetic for my project.
Thanks 👍❤
hii ! how ?
It's Aaron Cheng map customizer. @@fatimaguillen8078 and then you export it as jpg or screenshot it and edit in Photoshop or other programme
Thank you so much! I have to present next week and this will definitely elevate my project!!! You're a life savor. I owe my good grades to you!!!
That's great to hear Viviana! Thanks for this feedback. I'm here to help! 😄
When you press "R" key Google Earth returns the view to be vertical and making north directly upside, briefly resets the view ;)
Really useful tip MoTab! Thanks a lot 😁
@@LearnUpstairs But not worth a heart, right? :P
Joke aside, I guess it will be better if you pin the comment, so everyone can see it ;)
"N" Rotates to North also!

Thanks a lot from Korea
Thanks, this will help me later in my University projects
Hi, I just want to tell you that *I'm so glad* that I found this cause it's really useful for my project and interesting to learn :D Although I'm still a beginner in photoshop renderings, I found your video to be really informative and I could easily follow your instructions. Again thanks so much for this vid!
it work on my pc thx bro vеry much
Obrigado!! \o/
Oi Jose! Muito obrigado pelo feedback! Isso me deixa bastante empolgado pra trazer mais conteúdo pra vocês
thanks your best job. from south Korea.
Idk I just love you man thank u for this kind of content!!!!!
You should use Google Earth Studio, it can export images up to 4096x4096
Thanks for the tip Justin!
I've looked into the studio version, but felt it was more focused on videos productions and also I think it is on beta version, isn't it?
@@LearnUpstairs Very true, hopefully it will develop in a way that we can use it for images in a better way. I like te overall idea of Google Earth Studio
BRO YOU DO SOME THINGS SO FAST WITHOUT EXPLAINING, now i am stuck and im already deeply invested in the video
After I found out that you're brazilian I got worried if I should answer in portuguese or english, but great great video
Oi Joyce!
Hi. Great video. If someone can tell me how did he convert the pixelated road layer to solid background layer?
Great work
perfect as always 👍👍👍
Thank you, as always!
this was very useful thank you!
Hi lovely, I hope you are well. Any chance you can do a video how to prepare contours file for laser cutting starting from importing digimap or google earth into CAD? How to prepare contours laser cut file from scratch? We couldn't find any videos on you tube. Also laser cut site model. I look forward to watch more of your videos soon. Have a great day:)
Great job!
Thank you sir sachin
wow great😇😇
bro love you
thank you!
how did you get the road image ?
I wanna know too😢
That was amazing
Thank you so much!!!!
Excelentes vídeos. Já chego dando voadora no like! ✌🏻😊
Aí sim! Muito obrigado, Jorge!
Aaaand what if we cant get our hands on these awesome vector roads?
Sensacional 👏🏼
Where did the road layer with black bg came from? I'm new in photoshop pls bear with me
awesome
!!!!
Ill know ive made it if I ever need this tutorial lol
Daayum this is amazingggg
Hi I have a question. How is master plan different than site plan? Thanks. Love your videos
Jess Johnson master plan is a conceptual layout and site plan is a detailed drawing of site
Marina Nikitina thanks. and who designs master plan? Architects or urban designers?
Marina Nikitina thanks. and who designs master plan? Architects or urban designers?
Thanks for the reply Marina! Yes, that's basically it Jess, also a master usually has a broader view of the site. Proposing major city axis, typology placements and many other things.
In some countries you come out of Architecture school as an Architect and as an Urban Planner, so you'd be qualified to propose master plans. But I'm not sure in other places.
Here in Brazil the major is called Architecture and Urbanism, they aren't divided. And it takes 5 years to complete it.
It would be great to have Korean subtitles.
It would! But I know nothing about Korean, sorry 😔
@@LearnUpstairs It`s ok :)
I just wandered in here based on a YT Photoshop recommendation. I was totally lost as to what a 'master plan' is, or how it relates to Photoshop.
Would be good to mention in your vid description that this stuff is pretty specific to architecture work. Maybe.
my 2¢
It's not specific to architecture work at all.
I have done stuff this a lot working as a graphics designer at a firm for real estate clients selling land.
Muito bom!
Thank you for this
Thank for your feedback Kon! I left a reply on your other comment about the 1, 2, 3 😀
how did you get those Roads monochrome map :/ I replay 30 times but still can not get it
How did you do that 2:23 - 2:27?
Hello what type of resolution is the best one to save as pdf? And should we use RGB?
Hi Shaz! I usually use 150 dpi at least. So it works great on the web and nicely enough for printing if I decide to print.
If you're planning to print since the beginning, go for 300 dpi.
Now, RGB is usually used for digital means and CMYK for physical ones. But I often check with my local printer to see what I should use.
I hope that helps you out! Cheers
@@LearnUpstairs Thank you very much! :)
Can you please tell me how you added the roads ?? That black& white thing ?
Hey Faiza! I drew them using a brush. Then I saved as a single image to record the tutorial. That's why it has a white background with black lines.
Then during the video, I inverted it using Ctrl + i and set the blend mode to screen so that the background doesn't show
@@LearnUpstairs Hi, İf İt is possible could you show us how did you do that?
Hi M bos! At 2:23 and on you can see me placing this jpg and using a blend mode to not see the background. Then right next I say where you can get these files. And at 3:21 I show how to draw them by hand. Using a simple round brush with white color and holding shift to make straight lines.
Let me know if you found it. 😉
@@LearnUpstairs first time ı thought there would be a trick to draw whole road.now ı get it.:)we have to draw all of them by hand .thanks a lot .see you then.
I do like what you’re doing in this video but it’s a little bit fast for me. Thanks
UA-cam has playback speed control and you can watch this video as often as you want.
How to get the roads layer??? 😭😭😭
Please help me, I have to do something like this for a school project. I followed every stap u made. But i cant get the image i downloaded from earth in good quality in photoshop.
Please help me
how u did the roads??
I have checked thai illegal is to use Google Earth/Google Maps for projects that we monetize/or others that we make money. Even this video is probably illegal if your monetize is ON.
Why would you used the brush tool when its better to use the pen. Also its better to do this kind of work in Illustrator. PS is a photo editing tool and not to be used for vector.
Excelente vídeo, ojalá estuviera en español alv :v
好活!
I thought that video will talk about some google conspiracy theory LOL
😂🤷🏻♂️
@@LearnUpstairs Yeah i thought so too but i enjoy this
Same! LOL
That's why I clicked 😂 Actually intended to avoid working on the outcome for an architecture project. Thank you OU for learning quite a lot!
me too! :)
Amazing didn’t realize 13min had passed. I dedicate any good grades or praise I get to you 🙌🏻
Thank you!! I guess that means you enjoyed the video 😀😀
Just came up with a method that's not as "destructive" as color range if anyone's interested.
- Convert the layer for the satellite image into a smart object
- Go to Filter > Camera Raw Filter
- When the window opens, go to HSL adjustments > Saturation, and completely desaturate all color ranges except the 2 ranges of green
Hope it will be helpful to someone
Thanks 😁
The tutorial was really great!!! You taught quite a lot of commands in just 13 mins. Also the end result is amazing. Very helpful video
How do you add the roads?
Maybe you can ask someone to press play on the video for you as well ?
@@laurens9561 maybe I missed something, no need to be a dick about it lol
@@williamjames8633 no you didn't he took it from god knows where
I just use this website mapstyle.withgoogle.com and make all the roads yellow in the more options settings and hide everything else and I then take a screenshot of it and bring it into photoshop then select the colour range to select all my yellow roads and delete everything else and change the colour of the yellow roads to white. Hopefully, this helps Its better than spending hours tracing over roads anyway!
@@laurens9561 yea like stfu you bitch. She asked a question. And his instructions weren’t specifically clear. About “city hall” and “universities” not everyone knows how to do that. Mind your god dam Business.
I would suggest using vector paths, especially if you have to deal with smooth curves, like on highways for example. This option also gives you an opportunity to easily experiment with different lineweights, strokes and other brush settingss.
Great point 👍
I love the part where you convert it to smart object then use the camera raw.... Absolute genius.
I realized it was so helpful just a couple of months ago. Before then I had to redo all the steps with camera raw if I needed to fix anything 😅
Far easier to do all this in Illustrator. That way the lines remain clean and you can adjust thicknesses, colour, and things like dot pattern and fills.
It remains resolution independent and you can also import into After Effects if you need animations.
@Fancy Not at all.
You just have to drop all the preconceptions you have with Photoshop and bitmaps.
For general graphics work, it is far superior in many ways. Take time to learn it, they have many commonalties.
I feel that they are both different softwares for different tasks. But I also think that it is far easier to do in illustrator, specially the streets, regarding the strokes and widths.
But when it comes the part where you need to swap the river color, select the greens, apply effect to individual pixels, Photoshoo is the tool that can perform these operations.
You gotta choose a different mal style if you want to go with Illustrator. But at the end of the day, both softwares are different, one is not better than the other one, but there were made to deal with vector or pixels
@@LearnUpstairs I disagree. I have done entire maps using Illustrator. There are brush techniques you can use to effect colour. Sure, it's not a photorealistic effect, but it all depends on the look you are after.
On top of that, you can swap between the two as they both accept each others files.
Oh yes! Using both of them at the same is the best workflow. For personal projects I always use this process. The best of both worlds 😉
Thanks for pointing it out! On the videos I usually try to find a middle ground and use a workflow that most people are used to. But I'm always open to the watchers opinions, cheers!
@@LearnUpstairs I do think too many people automatically jump to Photoshop as a fix-all, (not that I am against it, i have been using it since version 2.0), but it is always good to know what options one has available, and Illustrator is just as powerful, but far less well known or understood. I am a motion graphics designer, so I need both, along with many other software applications, but they are always my go-to's.

how did you get lines from the Google earth PICTURE
i was wondering the same!!
where do you get your patterns from? I dont have these angled line pattern you used. I tried dowloading some but they dont work the same yours do. Only background color of pattern is changing, the lines(actual thing that I want to have control over) stays black :((( And of course I set the blend mode to "Multiply". HEEEELP!!!
Hi So so. I teach how to create a pattern over this video here: ua-cam.com/video/r0d-QrvtFhE/v-deo.html
I hope that helps!
I know it might be shocking to some... I dont like your videos
' automatic language of subtitles XD I always have to switch it to english. great job man, as always. Thank you for uploading ;)
😂😂
You have amazing tutorials to follow along! i'm a noob at photoshop, but just doing exactly what you do makes it easy to figure out general steps. It gives me a much greater idea of what photoshop is capable of!
That's what I'm here for! Thank you for your feedback Amber. I reallly appreciate it 😄
I read the title thinking that Google had a master plan to take over the word via Google Maps.
I just have to thank you, brother! Your job really helps me, I improve my presentations thanks to you. Have a good day sir, you deserve.
Thanks a lot for your feedback Marco! 🙏
2:21 how to make the roads ? please answer quickly
tNice tutorialng ♂️. And I haven't used soft soft 9 since 09. So sorry bud✌ peace from Germany...
I'm rewatching this since there's something that I missed out on:
Do you do this before doing work in cad/bim, or afterwards?
Too much work, too manual.. not a good workflow 👎🏻 if someone comes and says “can we move it a bit to the right” or “can we zoom out” - makes hell break loose.. 🙄👎🏻
If I had enough money I would make an intelligent graphics database that developers can query images of maps..
I don't understand why you the roads map ? sorry i speak so to understand when you talk i had somes problem to this part
hey , i want to ask you question when iam import a photo from the google earth (high resolution) the result that i have only the site but i dont have a picture for the roads?
I followed step by step but at 8:31 the green isnt revealed, the colour is just grey
Great. Thanx&greetings from Poland.
Thanks, Janosik!
Sir I really need your help I want to design a architectural plan for .me resort project pls..help me sir
not me thinking google had a master plan to fix google earths graphics through photoshop.. 👁👄👁
essa legenda em português conquistou meu coração!!! :)
Used this once in my bachelors and was told by my professors it looked professional.. In my masters now, me back haha ^^
Amazing tutorial ;) Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback Ahmed! Unfortunately I don't know how to do specific on Google earth. But sometimes I use a website called "Snazzy Maps". There you can apply a style to Google maps where the roads accentuate from the rest
Thank you for your reply
Thank you sir! You did really well and you help me a alot! But just one thing I wanna ask you, how do you get your street map I mean that road you put it on a second layer?
Just an idea: you can go to Google maps, select the roads option, then open the image with ps and use the magic wand. Haven't ever tried it though
