That comment about us AMs being upset about not hitting 100% C1X was so real. I’m guilty of it myself and needed to hear it. But also def agree the mental game is critically underrated cause that can really break anyone
For me its infuriating even when I have like 7/10 from C1 because the ones I miss are always horrible putts that I gave no chance. It’s either perfect or completely terrible.
Been playing for just under 2 months. Spent a ton of time watching youtube and many of your videos. Played my first tournament last weekend and ended up 5th of 22 in ma4 with a 836 rating. Already signed up for a few more. Thanks for all the quality videos.
Finding a way to over come the mental aspect would be a great video! I’m new to tournament play and having more coaching on the mental side would be awesome to hear from you, Mr. UA-cam man!!
With the rain you need to get those board games to the table. Thanks for the video and for your thoughts.

remove the highs and lows mentally the higher you get when are good the lower you fall when they're bad, stay centered grasshopper have learned a lot watching you thanks
Robbie I’m sorry the third round didn’t go as you would’ve liked, but really appreciated your “silver linings” sum up. Great mental advice that can easily get pushed to the wayside but but just as important even for someone like me that isn’t at tourney level yet. Appreciate your content as always
been playing for 1½ years now - signed up for my first sanctioned tournament this coming weekend.... im allready starting to become nervous :P fornunatly its on my homecourse, and we have our weekly club-night today, so fingers crossed for a nice roundt to day to build up some confidence, that my mind is currently trying hard to shatter into pieces :P
Hey Robbie thank you for your videos they are always so helpful. I was wondering if you have done a video or could make a video or know a good resource to know what the different kind of tournaments are?
Hey Robbie. I followed your tip this past weekend about warming up before tournaments. I missed my last practice putt so I would have a higher chance of making my next putt which would be on hole 1. I ended up throwing the closest drive but then 3 putted for the only bogey on the card. 😎🤝👍
Yeah, this is helpful for sure. The mental game is SOOooooo important. Last year, I finally bought a PDGA membership (after playing casually for a couple years and done a Trilogy Challenge the year prior) and decided that I wanted to play in my first tournament, something I was scared-excited about. Come tournament time, I'm on the chase card after Rd. 1 and within just a few strokes of the lead. Then, the prospect of that lead and the pressure to perform perfectly crumbled me, and while I didn't totally bomb the rest of the round and tournament, I most definitely was not gonna finish near the top. Mental game was not very good. Fast forward a year later, just a few weeks ago, to my 3rd tournament (2nd was a flex-start last year that didn't have many people, finished top 3), still in MA4 (coming in rated 844), and I expected to win. Not a huge field, it's a course that's 2/3rds familiar (10-hole glow layout before, this was the full 18), and I'm in the lead by 2 strokes after Rd. 1. Second round, the wind had other plans. I saw my lead diminish and at one point I was behind the lead by 5 strokes with a guy on my card. Long-short, we kept up the mental game, got birdies when we could, and honestly....just willed my mind to say, "No, it's not over." Ended up winning my first tournament (by 3 strokes), and the mental game had 100% to do with that.
Thanks for sharing. Been playing almost a year, will be getting into a tournament this year. I think everyone deals differently with how they control nerves, emotions, but everyone also pretty much knows what triggers them, so that's what is the easiest to work on ahead of things. It's relaxing to a novice like me to see even a well seasoned player reacts in situations like you. You approach those in such a common sense way, I really enjoy seeing how you work yourself through them. It's calming in a way. Definitely look forward to hearing about your success as your year progresses. You got the knowledge & mentality, we all know you have the ability. Best wishes. Question....did you wear the 🤠??
I had a few tournaments over the past few months that have been a journey. I had one where in my practice round I shot -2. Then in the tournament I shot a total of 20 over par. A real reality check for me in tournament pressure that I hadn't felt in over a decade. Then I went to a non sanctioned event after tons and tons of practice. Once again on that course I had shot a -6 weeks prior and took a -1 the day of the tournament coming in second place. With pressure and missed opportunities I secured second. Jumping from almost dead last to second. During that tourney I focused on mental side and playing my game. Jump forward a couple weeks at a pretty good sized b tier I went in focused on playing my game. Not placing. During round 1 I was in first until halfway through when I checked standings and proceeded to drop 5 strokes over 4 holes. Struggling to pick myself back up. Finally I re focused on playing my game and managed to end round one on second place by one stroke. Round two is where I am both disappointed and proud of myself. I ended up jumping into first after two holes closely followed by the guy who was in third going into the round. And we had an awesome battle throughout the round. This round I didn't focus on the standings. I knew roughly where event was and focused on the guy behind me and the guy behind him. Keeping my game solid and not caving under the pressure. When I would lose a stroke I would focus on getting it back. By the end of this long battle I ended up tied for first with the guy who started the round in 5th. We went into a playoff that I botched. Hence the disappointment and the missed opportunities during first and second round. But my mental game was far stronger than ever. And even though I took second place I fought hard for it and played some far better golf than I have in a while in a tournament setting. That mental game is a killer. I can keep working on mechanics but if that mental game goes then so does everything else.
When my forhand is Not workin well for me some rounds I feel like i should just give up on it and throw turn overs but my bad mental says "it will iron out throw it again " 😅

I love seeing your dogs in your videos! I have an aussie too and he's a great disc golf buddy ❤
Mind set is great I am a beginner and I fight with it all the time . But keep working on it . Thanks for the video.
So cool you came to Griffin. Hayden is a cool dude, and the Compound is dope! 30 minutes from my house.

Really enjoyed the long hole to hole recap for the fam and I really enjoyed this video as well. Recaps with a detailed thought process are great
Crazy you played that griffin course. About 15-20 mins from me

RiP!! Sorry about that! I guess it does not work for everyone!!! Hopefully you were able to bounce back!
Oh. I also have had mental breaks at disc golf practice rounds. Relatable

It would be cool to see a breakdown of what you fixed and show the old next to the new.

Solid work sir!
Man you couldn’t crop my horrible weekend out 😂😂😂 it’s ok I had a phenomenal bounce back this weekend at Atlanta open!
My first tournament I’ve every played in was on Saturday and I placed 1st
Love it

I'm 930ish and allow myself one OB/round and one missed "gimmie" before I berate my play.
What if I'm inching towards 900 and I'm upset about nearing 0 percent C1x in some rounds. Is that healthy? 😂
Need that pinky vid please
Skol!
Vegeta Disc 😍😍
Sigh
the basement! OGs will understand
Had to throw it back!!
