Hey guys, Justin from the video here. I appreciate the vibes and if I can give just one person the confidence to put themselves out there and give it a go then this was all worth it! I'm sitting here recovering from covid (no wonder I was so gassed on sunday)and have nothing to do, so I'm happy to answer (almost) any questions. 😂
Good luck with the recovery and thanks for the sweet dyed octane! I’m still recovering from the yellow jackets and jacked up ankle from the first round 😝
Justin is incredible, it takes an absolute stud to be willing to put yourself through that. I have been shying away from my first tournament and he was willing to share it with us.
JUst do it theyre so fun. For your first tournament dont go to compete just go to have fun and learn. Make a small goal and go for it. The worst you can do is lose in which case literally nothing happens lol
Totally agree with Mech, I had only been playing for 6 months before my first tournament. It was brutal, really strong winds, rain and snow. Conditions we just don’t practice in. But you just hang in there, everyone is in the same boat. Now I am addicted to tournaments and scour the country for the next one. The biggest mistake I made was setting myself too high a goal. I wanted to come second, why, I don’t know. I was 6 shots behind after the first round and started the second really well, closing the 6 shots down early in the round. Then thought I would have a go at first so pushed where I should have just maintained my score. Ended up third and disappointed, which was so stupid. I’m extremely competitive so I guess that’s the problem but just go have fun and aim for par.
Justin also helped me the last day whether he knows it or not. He was coming off the course as my tee-time approached. We talked a bit about his round and what he learned, but he seemed way more interested in encouraging me and getting me believing that I could do what I needed to close out a great weekend. That small convo helped recenter my thoughts before starting and it had an impact. Glad I got to witness the growth Justin had this weekend and looking forward to seeing him in more tournaments! More than that, Im looking forward to playing rounds with him more often! Awesome weekend man, and thanks for being willing to do this for everyone.
Aw man, You're gonna make a grown man tear up! Happy I could elevate your game! I appreciate you coming out on our sighter round, you added a great vibe and it was wicked getting to watch your shot selction! Definitely helped me out on 16 at DT!
I came in dead last the first 2 tournaments I played… What I love about this channel is Robbie takes care of his peeps! I wish I lived near you! It took me 4 years before I won a tournament…3 years before I shot under par in a tournament round…enjoy the journey my friends!
Justin, thank you for the willingness to share your experience with us! I am a 41 year old that just started disc golfing in May of this year. My oldest daughter introduced the sport to our family after she took it as a class in college. We have really enjoyed learning more about this sport and playing together. So, when you shared that you really enjoy playing with your family and that we are of similar age, it was nice to have something in common! I'm not sure if a tournament is in my future, but if it is I will take some of the things you learned and shared with me. Thanks again!
13:46 I want to point this moment out because it’s part of the reason I love disc golf. That little cheer from his peers when he made the putt is so nice to have. It’s not a zero sum game where one’s success is another’s failure. Good on you, Justin for documenting your journey and insight during the event!
Also, your affection to your family hit me in the feels. I can totally relate to that, as the majority of my rounds are with my kids and their support means so much more than a good tournament performance. In my last tournament, I played so badly and almost came in last place. I got home and my daughter asked me how I did, I told her “not too well, but I had fun” and she said “you’re my favorite disc golfer” so the bad round feelings all went away and that’s what I plan to focus on for my upcoming tournaments and leagues!
ABSOLUTE AWESOME INSITE! I love how your guest Justin's attitude is "Hey nothing life or death here." You are 100% right that you can't talk yourself into this being just another round, however you can talk yourself into a mind set of "Hey I'm going to play to the extent of my talent and experience and learn from this." When I played my first tournament I had no expectations other than coming in last. I didn't know Robbie C channel at the time, but I know it would have helped. Robbie helped me through other tournaments when I felt horrible about my play. Amazing video as always, the most helpful UA-cam channel for disc golf in my opinion.
I'm 53 years old and have been playing almost exactly one year. Played my first tournament last weekend. Two-round, C-tier event at Lake Olmstead in Augusta (pretty tough course). I probably should have played MA4 but they didn't have that division, so I did MA3. Shot a +26 and +21. Had bad nerves the first round, for sure, but it was slightly better in the second. The weather was only 83 degrees but near 100% humidity. It was brutal. Very hard to grip some of the slicker plastics and the chalk bag didn't help much. In the end, I came in dead last in my division, ten strokes behind the next guy. I'd really hoped for better but whatevs... need to cut myself a little slack, right? Just signed up for the Augusta Classic, a three-round, three-course event over two days. MA4 division this time. It's about five weeks out. I'm probably going to do a LOT more putting practice between now and then.
Good on you mate! Don't be ashamed of ever coming last. I actually think that's really cool of you to get in there! A year on, can I ask how your experience has travelled you so far?
I've only watched the intro as I'm leaving to hit the field for some practice. But, I'm excited to watch Justin and to see his break downs after I get home! Let's go Justin!!!
"Yep, I can't throw that far" - that's exactly my reaction to rangefinders as well. That's so awesome! It's been fun watching and listening to your experience!!
Love the format of this video, awesome stuff Justin! A lot of pressure with a big tournament like that, much respect! And great advice Robbie! #harpgang
I have been playing since 2014, but have actually put more effort into my game in the last 3 years. I have never played a tournament not because I don’t want to, but because I’m a chef and just don’t have the time off to compete. My friends at the shop always encourage me to sign up for one. I do play tags from time to time. Rock on Justin keep at it.
Perfect timing on this video, as I'm playing my first tournament in two years (and only my second tourney ever) this weekend. I finished 12th out of 12 last time, 729 rated. Really impressed with how positive Justin stayed! And I'm with him on the family thing. My dad is coming to caddy my first round Saturday and I'm so excited.
Good job my friend. I'm competing on my very first tournament here in Houston Texas called The Moffitt Show. Ive been playing on and off for 12 years now but still consider myself a beginner.... Never competed before. I am very nervous due to being 41 and not in my greatest shape of my life. Hope I'm able to at least finish the tournament.
Robbie, great episode and great idea. Justin, great job getting out there and documenting this for all of us. You have inspired me to (finally) get into my first tournament.
Amazing Justin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've been playing for 3 months and you are my new hero... i get jittery playing casuals with friends..... amazing job
This was awesome! My first tourny last year was 4 months after starting to play. Starting forehand 98%of shots but my arm couldn't take it so about 2 months b4 tourny I strictly played backhand no matter the score, probably a great choice, I learn fast so I was able to get a serviceable throw. I ended up middle of the pack out of 40 players and couldn't be happier. Out of all the people I played with that day nobody made me feel like I didn't belong and if any of you find somebody that treats you differently, I promise, they don't belong. Have fun out there!
I started playing disc golf in July 2020 and entered my first tournament in May 2021. So roughly 10 months I been playing, it was a B tier and I was a 35yr old smoker so I didn't really have a lot of high expectations. Surprisingly I tied for 1st place on day 1 at 3+ and on day 2 I was 5- for a 2- total I won by 7 strokes. I still can't believe it. Now I'm trying to get myself ready for next Saturday to play the Rec division for the same event. "Hitmewithyourbestshot" in Athens,TN. Congrats and awesome job to Justin on your event and this video. Robbie C. Thank you for everything you do as a person and a player and coach. Keep doing what you do.
I started signing up for tournaments as soon as I knew most of the rules and could throw without complete embarrassment. About 4 months after starting. I love it. The butterflies of throwing on a card where you don't know anyone, lots of strangers watching. I think I was +27 or so. A) everyone out there was completely supportive, B) I've met so many nice people, and a number of them are regular playing buddies, C) I know I've gotten better for playing in tournaments. I still get nervous, but honestly it's something I like experiencing. I played with a pro once who was astounded that I'd only been playing a few months. He said he didn't have the courage to play in one until he'd been playing a couple years. He said he wished he had played in them earlier on.
Way to go Justin! I just got into the sport a few months ago and I’m loving every bit of it! I’m starting to see success in my game and have been contemplating a tournament. This video is everything I could possibly hope for to encourage me and help me with any questions or suggestions I would require prior to signing up for my first tournament! Thanks for your support and positive energy that this channel thrives on! Good luck to everyone and have FUN!!!!
My second round of disc golf was a tournament where i didn't know a single player. It was a nightmare but it allowed me to meet some people who played and they were able to steer me in the right direction to continue playing. BTW love your channel it has helped my game immencely thanks.
Justin great job dude. I started playing competitively about a year and half ago. I definitely had my own struggles during PDGA rounds. Mostly with execution and mental errors. Keep it up dude! Definitely awesome man. Keep growing the sport with your family as that is truly why we do what we do. Anything to spend time with our family and friends outdoors is awesome. Pretty sick dyes there too dude. Great job Robbie C on this topic. As someone who struggled to decide when to play a tournament the first time I think some hesitate to take the chance, but also understand the love of casual play too. I am a very competitive person with myself and in competition. This is one of my struggles in tourneys. Keeping the mentality in good vibes and keep with the plan. Keep it up guys love the vids and good vibes!
Justin did an amazing job. I'm brand new and easily remember what it was like to launch into the unknown, approach a bunch of total strangers and ask if I could join and play with them. It was to join my local club and play some league events. It's been one of the best experiences of my recent life. On my first league event, I scored 3rd to the worst, learned a lot and had an awesome time. Thanks to Justin for his courage and authenticity and to Robbie and crew for bringing this great content.
What a video! Great job showing the feel of a first tournament. Really cool. Good job on Justin. He looked like he was having fun which is the best part!
Thank you Justin for having the courage to step up and give us newer players an honest take on that scary leap into that first competition. And GREAT DISC DYES!
Good job Justin! I was terrified for my first tournament and it was a c tier so I could not imagine having my first one be an a tier and have it be on UA-cam! Good job man!
I played my first event this weekend, the Wichita Open. I started playing in March of this year. I finished fourth from last but I had a good time and learned the tournament process. I’m two weeks from turning 52 and I’m looking forward to bettering myself and having fun.
Cool to see this from another person. I started playing regularly last fall and I played in my first tournament earlier this summer. His shot on the first hole made me think about my first shot on my Friday round. Very short, open hole. I play LHBH and I yanked it hard to the left into the bushes about 30' ahead of me. When we played the same course again Sunday I threw about 10 discs on that first hole before my morning round started and all landed within C2. I got up to the tee with my group for my real shot and threw the exact same shank as first round. Can be so different playing competitively, but can also be so much fun. Seems like most people out there in the amateur divisions are just out to have fun and are super supportive.
Mad props to you Justin, your play and attitude were really impressive. I recall my first tourney being really nervous about following the rules and etiquette as well. Specifically, I was so concerned about having a mini(I brought 4 with me) and whether or not I was going to use it correctly haha. My main struggle for tournaments is sticking to my game and game plan. Example: My last tournament was at a course I had played several times. I always play a forehand on #1, which a great shot will usually get me to 20-25 ft. The first three players threw a big sky hyzer to park the hole. I decided to throw that line, even though I was pretty sure that I didn’t have the power. I need hitting a tree, and took a bogey. In the second round, I stuck to my game plan and made birdie! Make a game plan for yourself, and stick to it!
Not many would man up like you did Justin, you were Courageous! I liked the video, talked about the mental part of the game, always being sharp - over 3 days. The stamina for that isn't something people typically practice. I got into Disc Golf for Family Time, and have played 95% with them but before I think about playing a tourney I'd need to play more than a handful of rounds with people I don't know - to see how I'd handle it, handling the poor shot (and the good ones). Good work Robbie!!
I am the same age as Justin (41) and have been playing for 1 year though I had Ultimate experience in college 20+ years ago. My goal this year was to join a league and hopefully my first tournament, but the summer is coming to a close and I haven't accomplished either of those yet. The only thing holding me back is me. I am introverted around strangers but extroverted once I get to know people. The idea of getting out and playing with strangers holds me back mentally so much that I don't even give myself the chance. I think it will happen soon and this video definitely helped.
I started playing weekly leagues and tournamets quite early, as watching and asking from good and great players, i have improved my game alot. This improved my game very much.
This video is right on time!! Playing my first tournament after 2 solid years of really playing more seriously. I was specifically looking for a pre-first-tournament video (hoping I would find one on your channel, Robbie). This delivered in spades. Justin, thank you so so so very much for making yourself vulnerable and sharing this experience and taking us on this trip with you. I'm honestly touched you were willing to do so for we viewers. Thank you both again. This was great content and congrats Justin on your first event!! ✌🏼
love your channel. I have been playing off and on for 5 years but have gotten more serious the last 2 years... played my first tournament in April second one in May playing my third next month. like you love meeting the disc golf friends I just hadn't met yet
I want to start with I also have been playing for a year or so and i want to compete. The thing that has been holding me back from signing up for my first tournament is feeling like I'm not good enough to compete. However, after watching this video it has giving a ton of confidence and definitely has swayed me to sign up for my first tournament. Thank you Justin for putting yourself in this position and helping other like myself. Thank you robbie for the breakdown and experienced words on this subject. I hope everyone gets something good from this video and stay motivated. Thanks.
Great video, Robbie. Thank you for you sharing your exprience, Justin. I, too, just played in my first tournament two weeks ago (Coppers Hawk, Campbell River, BC, Canada) and truly valued Justin's insights and Robbie's teachings. FAMILY IS KEY!!! Play with the one's you love. My wife caddied for me and was a powerful experience to epitomize life (ups and downs, good and bad). She plays now, and we have grown together through our love of the game. I've watched Robbie C. for months now and placed 2nd in the Rec. Div. in the tournament! Playing on the lead card for round two was VERY unnerving but I trusted my stroke and trusted the guidance of my teachers. Thanks Robbie C. Thanks, Justin. Thank you, disc golf!
This video was awesome. Big shout out to Justin. As for me, been playing just a little over a year and have never played in a DG tournament. I want my game to be more consistent, especially off of the tee, where I feel like I am throwing in a sprinkler-like pattern, despite the stability of the discs. FYI, the fastest disc I throw is only an 8 speed.
Great content as Usual Robbie. Thanks for being a great ambassador for our sport. Congratulations to Justin for his willingness to do this. Really cool. Best of luck. Hope to see you on a course some day! My first Tournament: I started playing Disc Golf June 10th 2022 and played in a tournament June 18th. Lots of fun, played as I expected (+50). So lots of fun. Let’s leave it there.
Man! Talk about PRESSURE!! First tournament, A-Tier, AND Vlogging it!! Justin is my kind of guy!! I am a very much, jump in with both feet right into the fire. I played one Intermediate Tournament and that's it. I went from there to MPO. Am I MPO material? Absolutely not... YET. What it did teach me (along with several vids on YT, many of them yours, Robbie) was how to play better, faster and I got to take in so much knowledge from this! Great vid Robbie, and AWESOME job, Justin!!
Just played in my first two events recently with the Peach City Classic and Magic City Mega Bowl. Honestly, played awful, but I feel so much more confident entering more events going forward! Important thing is I had a lot of fun with some great people 😎
1) Robbie, you're awesome. 2) Justin, you're awesome for sharing this with us. 3) Anyone watching this - consider signing up for a doubles tournament with your closest disc golf friend. That was my first experience, and it was a hoot and a half.
That’s incredible man and to put it all out there for us to see! Thanks! I finally shot my best round of +9 after 4 months of playing once a week. I’m not ready to play a big sanctioned event but when I can get to +8 a few weeks in a row I’d like to play a local mini. I know I won’t win anything, but I know I’d learn a lot and benefit from it!
Thank you, Justin. I’ve been playing a few years and have wanted to play tournaments. But I don’t even know how to join a league. You have inspired me to reach out to some locals to play my first tournament soon.
Way to go Justin! Thanks for putting yourself out there to give us your thoughts throughout the event. I have been thinking about when the right time to play my first tournament might be and what that might be like. Keep up the hard work!
What an amazing video, and awesome job Justin! I’m about to participate in my first tournament in a week, and this video helped me understand so much better in what to expect.
Cool video, Robbie. You're a great ambassador for the game. Love the Mission hat! I have the one with the flap on the back (Denver sun!). Keep up the great work.
I've only played 1-round tournaments, but had my first one (an unsanctioned Trilogy Challenge) about 2.5 months after I started playing. And that was when I got into Robbie C with his video about playing your first event. Finished well back in last on that one, but still enjoyed it. Congrats on your tournament Justin, and hope you continue to have great fun. Was great to hear you emphasizing keeping hydrated and sharing your struggle with that. I have the same issues, and get the same mental exhaustion. Great thing for everyone to remember!
I played my first tournament at about 10 months in. The course was a monster and even the best players in our Novice class were shooting +20 for the two rounds. Less than half of the pros shot under par for the two rounds! That being said, I car pooled up with one of the Advanced players from my local club The Alberni Valley Disc Golf Club in Port Alberni, BC, (the tournament was about an hour away in Nanaimo, BC), and we talked a bit about the course. The best part was getting to know the regulars in the Novice class. Locally the Novice and Recreational classes are pretty much interchangeable, and you always get one or the other in a tournament, never both so we always end up playing together. Now, 4 tournaments in we look forward to seeing one another, and frankly, my goal is to get to Intermediate by the end of the year but i don't really want to leave those people... decisions, decisions.
Go Justin! Good timing of video as I'm playing my first tournament starting tomorrow...I play 2 rounds Saturday, 1 round Sunday. I will try to keep my energy even and be happy with par and if I throw a good shot take a birdie here and there. Again, valuable info and good timing for me.
Kudos Justin, thanks for sharing your first tourney experience, it is really nerve racking to play under the pressure of tournaments, but to aslo put that experience out for us all to see is super courageous!! Also, great that your family plays with you, throwing discs with my son is such a good feeling!!
This video came at the perfect time for me. Just signed up for my first event. And AM only in October. Been playing since April and I am really excited to compete Edit: Shoutout to justin for doing this video. It really helped me gain more confidence about playing in October
Great video, props to Justin I hope he keeps getting into more tournaments. I've been in the boat of not knowing when I wanna play my first but this fall I'm definitely getting signed up for some
I think Justin did a great job! I'm a newB and it'd take A LOT to drag me out in front of a camera in a tournament with this skill level. Thanks to you and Justin for taking us through this journey. Bet Justin will CRUSH IT next time he's in a tournament!
Proud of you Justin! Way to put yourself out there and be vulnerable. I played my first tournament after only playing for 3 months and felt the same things you talked about in your video. You’re an inspiration for those on the fence about signing up for their first tourney.
Great stuff Justin. I can't even get myself to sign up for a tournament, let alone film my thoughts on it, and let someone else edit it. Thanks so much for the inspiration. and great stuff.
Props to Justin for doing this and great video idea. My personal experience and opinion: if you're interested in competing and playing in tournaments at all, just do it. There's basically zero downside other than the pressure you put on yourself to perform well. No one else cares. They're in the same division as you. I started playing disc golf in April, played my first tournament in June, have played 2 more since, and play in my 4th next week. I'm addicted. I will say that having a background in other sports definitely gave me an advantage in dealing with the pressure of competing, but at the end of the day, there's nothing to be afraid of. I've finished in the back half of the field for every tournament so far, but still have a blast. Every one on my cards has been very nice and supportive. Last point: I found it very beneficial to set a realistic goal before going into it, rather than trying to win and then being disappointed with any other result. My personal goal was to just shoot above 800 rated rounds. I haven't always done that, but most of them are so it gives me a sense of accomplishment even when I'm not placing well. Now that I'm 818, it's to shoot 820 rounds, etc. Little incremental goals that help create accomplishments along the way. TLDR: just sign up, meet new people, and have fun!
Good for you Justin, loved the comment... Welp I wasn't last.... ! That's totally me Justin ! Keep at disc golf. Your son is the one that you will be the best caddy for in the years to come ! My son is 11 and it's the best bonding time and so healthy and beautiful! Good for you Justin! Keep that boy training! Lol
Follow up: three disc MVP circuit challenge, finished -2 and tied for 20th! Can't wait to sign up for more tournaments, and this video really helped me write the tale of two 9's: Front 9: +2 Back 9: -4
Great video. Please do more of these. Justin your awesome man. Thank you for helping people like me out that get real nervous about playing in tournaments.
So ive been playing extremely casual rounds for 2 years, maybe once or twice a month. I signed up for an xc tier ma40 event and on the drive there the whole self doubt and questioning myself was real . Justin your a champ because i know my anxiety was high and you held it together. The disc golf community is very welcoming and well it dont matter how good/bad you are league's and tournaments will help ya get better so dont be afraid to get out there
Nice one Justin! Definitely felt similar to you on my first tournament. On like my 8th or so now and it gets easier and I hope you feel that on your next tournament. Keep up the great work
Robbie, this was a really good topic to videography, wish I could have seen it before playing my first. I've been playing about a year and a half now and I've watched all of your videos. At the encouragement of my friends, I played my first tournament blind about 6 months after I first started playing disc golf and I also played in MA4 (btw I'm 55). While I played a GREAT tournament up in Crossville, TN (took 2nd with 850/890 rounds, beginners luck for sure) the guy who won it had been playing for a few years and threw a stack Katana discs that looked older than me. Yes, there are baggers playing Novice...sheesh... Since I'm an amateur, I've been really up and down in my tournament play, but playing new courses and meeting new people has been a blast. I do like playing casual rounds with my friends, I also really like to see how I can play in a live tournament when the pressure is on. I can tell you that playing with other people and seeing different styles and lines has really helped my game. Justin be careful, playing tournaments can be highly addictive ;) Good luck on your next tournament!
6:20 Well I'm already impressed because he drained a tester putt on his first ever tournament hole, nice one! I'm pretty sure I didn't do that back in my first tournament
I bought my first DG disc's in March of 2021. I played my first unsanctioned event a multi course flex start about a year after and have played a 2 day C Tier and 1 day C Tier events. I'm going to play my first A Tier 3 day event at the end of the month. I was shocked how deep I got in my head during the first event. playing a course I had lots of experience on. I realized after 9 holes I needed to recalibrate and play the shots I knew I had. I've both planned practice rounds and played blind. I'd always rather have at least 1 round in on a course. Keeping it light / positive is an active choice that takes work. I know I can improve at this.
3 Weeks before my first tournament, in 2003 I shot what is still my best round ever at that course...6 down. 11 down on the front! On the first day, I shot what is still the worst round I've ever scored, + 18. The last two rounds were rough, because I was working 11pm to 7am at that time, and first round started at 830, and second round started at 1pm. We finished at 6pm. I averaged like 8 over those last two rounds. I think I was dead last....and got maybe 3 hours of sleep between Thursday and Monday. Was some of the most fun I've ever had on the course. Hoss did awesome for his first tournament! Some day, my 3 boys will be old enough to tag along without messing up everyone else on the card....heh. Dad goals.
Let's go Justin! The first tournament is such a tough thing mentally and I think you handled it like a champ. Not to mention documenting the entire thing. You repped the #BirdieFam spectacularly. Keep it up!
This is a great video Robbie, and kudos to you Justin! I have been thinking about finally playing a tournament myself. I have been playing off and on for almost 30 years. Some years I didn't play at all, some years only a few times, some years once a month in spring summer and fall, and some years multiple times a week. In the last three years I have been playing at least once a week and up to 5 times a week. I'm finally considering a tournament and watching this video has inspired me. Thank you Robbie and Justin!
Awesome video. I've been playing for about 6 months now. I just signed up for my first tournament. It's next week a random doubles tournament. Nothing the same level as the mega bowl but I definitely plan to play mega bowl next year. Glad i got to see this before my first tournament.
Robbie I wanted to say something to you I love your channel I think you've got the best personality you've got the best mix of technical personal and spiritual Positivity on a disk Golf Channel I've seen yet. Thank you for being here.
I started playing February of this year and I’m playing my first tournament in 2 days! Im honestly not very nervous, I’m confident in my shots and my putts so I’m definitely excited and looking forward to meeting some new people!
Extremely brave of Justin to put this on video. So cool that this is out there. My first ever tournament shot was missing a mando which led to a +12 round on an easy course. Awesome to get a chance to deal with that next level pressure. If you kind of want to play a tournament, then you should definitely do it. No time like the present.
Justin did great for it being his first tournament and being filmed for thousands of people to see! Definitely would be taxing on your body and mind. Great job!
Robbie how dare you have great attitude and encourage such a brave player lol. He did great you did great helping him out. Reminds me of my first I came in second to last but had a good time and that's what it's all about. Way to grow the sport guys and encourage each other. I hope you all sign up for a tournament it's good times. Nice video
I played my first event 5 or so months in... Thought I was ready then... Looking back just 6 months later... I wasn't ready. Completely different player now.... Heck of a job Justin
Well done Justin 👏 when I played my first tournament I was literally shaking on first few putts and inevitably shot way over par on the front 9 due to nerves , i managed to settle down and enjoyed it , I was desperate to play well and to my abilities , I won my first tournament on 3rd tournament i entered ,in division (rec) and I was over the moon as I played poor on the first round but played really well on the 2nd and 3rd round to win by 3 strokes 😁
Hey Justin! Good to meet you at Inverness on Friday! Great job this past weekend!
@@andrewroberson8443 likewise! Hope you guys tore it up, and hmu when you're in the area. I'm almost always up for a round at inv.
Signing up for another soon?
@@joshgroot so if I wasnt sick I was Considering a c-teir this weekend at some courses I'm slightly more familiar with.

I came in dead last the first 2 tournaments I played…
What I love about this channel is Robbie takes care of his peeps!
Dang. Justin talking about his son hugging him after the round got me in my feels. Way to go man.
Give it hell brutha!
Good on you mate! Don't be ashamed of ever coming last.
I actually think that's really cool of you to get in there!
A year on, can I ask how your experience has travelled you so far?
@@ComeatMEOW I played in the Trilogy Challenge a couple of weeks ago. Came in 15th of 42. :)
@@EdgarJohnson never stop being awesome mate! Discgolf for the win!!
#harpgang
Man this video just shows that disc golf is one of the best, most wholesome and people oriented sport out there.
Good luck out there. I'm thinking about signing up for my first tournament soon too. Having someone you know caddy for you would be awesome.
Amazing Justin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've been playing for 3 months and you are my new hero... i get jittery playing casuals with friends..... amazing job
Absolutely loved his loosy Goosey dance before the putt. Great content for new to tournament players and experienced as well.
I so agree man. Playing DG with my son is the greatest joy ever. I love to succeed and I love watching him succeed. Keep on it man.
Way to go Justin! This was a FANTASTIC video... I am just getting into disc golf and appreciated you putting yourself out there
My third year playing, first year deep diving. Thanks for the videos. You've answered so many questions I have and taught me a lot. Very convenient.
I’ve been playing about 5 years and finally playing in my first tournament this weekend. Watching all your videos for tips. Thanks a lot
Thank you soo much Robbie for tackling this topic and Justin for being open, transparent and brave! Well done to both of you!!
Important thing is I had a lot of fun with some great people 😎
I love the format of this video, really cool perspective. Can’t wait till I play my first A-tier!!!
Thank you gents for the great video! I'm about to play in my first tournament this next weekend and this video is a great confidence booster for me
What an amazing video, and awesome job Justin! I’m about to participate in my first tournament in a week, and this video helped me understand so much better in what to expect.
Thanks Justin. What an inspiration. Thanks for reminding us about the importance of family.
Congrats on your first tournament, Justin! Robbie C, your level of positivity is amazing. Keep up the great work!
Amazing! I’ve only played in flexes and C-Tiers! Incredible to play an A-Tier! Solid man!
Great job Justin! Thanks for letting us follow you through your rounds!
Been playing since April and I am really excited to compete
Edit: Shoutout to justin for doing this video. It really helped me gain more confidence about playing in October
Great video, props to Justin I hope he keeps getting into more tournaments. I've been in the boat of not knowing when I wanna play my first but this fall I'm definitely getting signed up for some
Way to go Justin. Love the content and can’t wait to see where you go from here. Birdie fam for life.
I wouldn't have done it for anyone else! Robbie's helped me enough through my journey it was my honor to be bale to help him out.
So cool!! This was awseome to watch! Thanks Justin and Robbie for taking the time to make this video!
Lol
This is amazing. Thanks for the inspiration Justin! I followed your lead and just signed up for my first tournament!!
Follow up: three disc MVP circuit challenge, finished -2 and tied for 20th! Can't wait to sign up for more tournaments, and this video really helped me write the tale of two 9's:
Front 9: +2
Back 9: -4
Justin, you’re awesome! Thanks for sharing your first tournament!
This is an awesome video! Thanks for putting this together Robbie! And thanks Justin for putting yourself out there for us. Well done!
Great video. Please do more of these. Justin your awesome man. Thank you for helping people like me out that get real nervous about playing in tournaments.
If there were more people like Robbie C in this world, this world would be a better place
Great video Robbie . That dude is a hero to have the courage to play . Your the best 🤘🏼
Because of watching your videos, I entered into my first tournament for next week, 6/1/23 I'm nervous as all heck but I want to do it
So ive been playing extremely casual rounds for 2 years, maybe once or twice a month.
Congrats to this dude I finished dead last the first 2 events I played.
3 Weeks before my first tournament, in 2003
I shot what is still my best round ever at that course...6 down.
Great job!
Such a great video! Thank you Justin for sharing these insights! I'm playing in my first tournament this weekend!
Nice video
All the power to you Justin for doing this!
