Throttle Therapy - Bikes Make it Better - P2T EP02

  • The second installment of my 5000 mile solo road trip to the Balkans.
In this episode we see next level iterations of faff as I settle into the ride and zig zag through Germanys gorgeous Black Forest.
Permission to Torque is a Mental Health movement set up to show others that you "get it" by displaying a discrete symbol for others to take comfort in. Its not about sitting around in a circle feeling sorry for yourself, its about shared experience and getting out there to find out what makes us happy - this is the aim of my trip and why I am sharing it on UA-cam, the good days and the inevitable bad ones too.
I hope you enjoy the journey with me and find it at least vaguely useful! :)

I'm getting the urge to follow in your footsteps.
Just been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and can't help but panic about how much time I have left to do something like this.
    Edit:
Thanks for all the kind comments, really appreciate it. I've began for rebuild my first gen Multistrada ready for some touring in 2023. Carried over more days holiday and plan to do Lands end to John O Groats and some German fun.

Got diagnosed with cancer in 2014………jumped on an airplane and hired a bike in VN to ride around the country…….still here……still fly-riding and also riding in the UK. Get on and do it, this isn’t a dress rehearsal. It might get me one day…….until then…….live it.

Hi Chris. Watching the old BvG vids inspired me to take up biking. I passed my test at the age of 42 and had a few wonderful years of biking on my Africa Twin. Unfortunately, I've got a heart condition and will be having a major op in January. Sadly, I had to let the AT go as it's going to be at least 6 months before I can ride again. When that glorious day comes, I'm going to buy something smaller and lighter and the moment that I swing a leg over and thumb the starter will be the moment that I consider myself over the shit I'm going through right now. I can't wait to get back on two wheels again, I'm counting the minutes as they tick down. Good luck with your travels wherever you may go to. Thank you.

Just wanted to say THANKS for this series of videos.
It’s really refreshing to hear a grown ass man actually admit to having 5hit feelings and that it’s actually ok to feel like that.
When I first started watching 44T, I thought you were a bit of a knob if I’m honest.😂
Now, I admire your courage to be so open and for making normal blokes feel a little less apprehensive about opening up.
Keep doing what you’re doing !
Looking forward to the next episode 👍

I've used my bike as therapy for years, as concentrating on not getting killed limits the brains ability to dwell on life's issues. I just wish my health would stop fkn with my ability to ride, as in the 5yrs I've had the bike it hasn't covered many miles. I couldn't afford to travel abroad but as I live on the western edge of the Lake District, I have 100's of miles of beautiful countryside to explore.

Just take a set of Scott waterproofs to put over them for those wet days…also if it’s a bit chilly ..to stop the wind👍
