  • The third installment of my 5000 mile solo road trip to the Balkans.
In this episode i hear a funny noise which will now toy with me for the next 4600 miles and enter Switzerland for the first time since "the incident"
Permission to Torque is a Mental Health movement set up to show others that you "get it" by displaying a discrete symbol for others to take comfort in. Its not about sitting around in a circle feeling sorry for yourself, its about shared experience and getting out there to find out what makes us happy - this is the aim of my trip and why I am sharing it on UA-cam, the good days and the inevitable bad ones too.
I hope you enjoy the journey with me and find it at least vaguely useful! :)

The pop is the ignition cut for the ShiftCam mechanism, and your ticking issue can be resolved by fitting BMW's revised (longer) left cylinder cam chain tensioner. Ride safe!

Is that why the RR with shiftcam also tics?

    • @LonelyTreeSunset
      @LonelyTreeSunset Рік тому +2

@@mitchxr2112 Not sure! The issue on the 1250 boxer is excessive cam chain slap in the left cylinder. It is not known to cause a catastrophic failure, however, the ticking is annoying especially at lower RPM and deceleration at low speeds.

@mitchxr2112 My XR used to tick and then i warrantied a timing chain. Still ticked at certain RPMs. Was told its just a noisy enginge so i started ignoring it. They did show me another brand new bike than sounded the same if that is any consolation.

Hey Barron. Good stuff after suffering very badly for a few years, I’m now on top off it, mostly down to my wife who basically forced me to seek help. Via combat stress. I wouldn’t except it could change any thing. After much talking with a professional. It did! While not out of it properly, I’m a whole lot better. Main thing is for me is not wanting to go back down. So keep doing things from small to big. A whole lot of people are in a far worse place and that put a lot of guilt on me, which kinda helped in a bizarre way. Stay safe out.

Right, I need to talk here...
I love watching your videos. Takes me away from my shit.
Life is really hard after loosing my Mum to a horrendous murder in 2010.
Watching your videos keeps my brain away from it and keeps me semi sane.
Watched you from day one and I love when I see a notification that you have posted. You are a really down to earth guy that gives me some cracking laughs.
Just hope you see this. Don't expect a reply. Just hope you know you are doing some amazing things to keep others sane and happy(er) than usual. Keep posting because it is 100% needed by some of us. Top man.
Ps Love my permission to torque sticker...
And anyone else that is struggling with life....
Hit me up. I'm always free to talk and to be here for others that aren't able to deal with things going on.
Helping others with mental health issues or problems is one thing I love doing after having help from others to help me.
    One Love Chris ❤️

My 2022 GSA makes that annoying ticking, just happens under load at low revs, dealer told me it was the shift cam, it has gotten quieter since the first service was done.

I have a similar ticking (almost ringing / bell-like) sound on my 2021 r1250gs. It happens at low to medium revs under moderate load. Did it with stock and now Arrow slip-on. I complained to the dealer, they found nothing wrong. If it were an old out-of-tune engine, I'd say it's "pinging" lightly. My 2017 r1200r doesn't make the sound. Comes for the Right side. Not sure from the head or the exhaust flapper... It's either bad or annoying.

Ticking is almost always a problem with the chain tensioner or the valves. Most of the times fitting a better aftermarket chain tensioner and adjusting the valves makes this go away. Dealers often just plug in the computer and if they find no faults they aren't bothered to look for anything else.

Holding your urine for too long can weaken the bladder muscles over time. This can lead to problems such as incontinence and not being able to fully empty your bladder. Holding your urine for extremely long periods of time can also cause urinary tract infections due to bacteria build-up

Ticky that other GS doesn't have - could it be the shift cam?
