  • Taracea is the name for a centuries-old marquetry and inlay technique that originated in the Arabic cultural area.
    Outside the Arab world, this technique is used only in Spain, especially in the south of the country.
    It is used to decorate furniture boxes, tablets, etc., but it has not been used for guitar rosettes.
    Taracea and the guitar come to us through Spain... and now meet in my workshop...
    The special refinement and ingenuity of this technique consists in the fact that by wrapping the basic elements with string during gluing, a self-centering of the motifs is caused.
    The great challenge lies in the particularly small dimensions of the parts, which must be manufactured with the highest precision.
    Australian eucalyptus, ebony and maple are used for the special 35th anniversary edition.
    The rare and light-resistant Australian eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Marginata, is one of the few light-resistant red woods on earth.
    There are more than 150 motifs to be chosen from.
    The motif of the rosettes is repeated in the knotting blocks of the bars.
    The 18-hole saddle allows for the traditional string binding method, but also for the current 12 hole binding and for a binding without covering the motif.

    Taracea ist die Bezeichnung für eine jahrhundertealte Intarsien- und Einlegetechnik, die ihren Ursprung im arabischen Kulturraum hat.
    Außerhalb der arabischen Welt wird diese Technik nur in Spanien, vor allem im Süden des Landes, angewendet.
    Sie wird zur Verzierung von Möbelkästen, Tafeln usw. verwendet, aber nicht für Gitarrenrosetten.
    Taracea und die Gitarre sind über Spanien zu uns gekommen... und treffen sich nun in meiner Werkstatt...
    Die besondere Raffinesse und Genialität dieser Technik besteht darin, dass durch das Umwickeln der Grundelemente mit Schnur beim Verkleben eine Selbstzentrierung der Motive bewirkt wird.
    Die große Herausforderung liegt in den besonders kleinen Abmessungen der Teile, die mit höchster Präzision gefertigt werden müssen.
    Für die Sonderedition zum 35-jährigen Jubiläum werden australischer Eukalyptus, Ebenholz und Ahorn verwendet.
    Der seltene und lichtbeständige australische Eukalyptus, Eucalyptus Marginata, ist eines der wenigen lichtbeständigen Rothölzer der Erde.
    Es stehen mehr als 150 Motive zur Auswahl.
    Das Motiv der Rosetten wiederholt sich in den Knüpfblöcken der Stäbe.
    Der 18-Loch-Sattel ermöglicht die traditionelle Saitenbindung, aber auch die aktuelle 12-Loch-Bindung und eine Bindung ohne Abdeckung des Motivs.

    As rosetas que enfeitam as bocas dos violões de famosos, digo de violões caríssimos e advindos de artesões com herança familiar de pai para filho. A arte de fazer Rosetas belissimas, são criações com milimétricas particulas de diversas madeiras, marfim, piaçábas, que marcheteadas e coladas mostram a criatividade dessas belezas indiscritiveis.       Thanks for your response (accessible to me only via DeepL translator). I'm not sure if I understand what you wanted to convey here. Are you meaning to say that only sons of artisans are able to make beautiful rosettes? I respectfully disagree. E.g. I'm in possession of the very first guitar Sebastian Stenzel made under his own name, and his rosette is as refined as the ones of the best luthiers. And he continued making beautiful rosettes until this day. The same is true for Sascha Nowaks work. Both do not have fathers from which they could have inherited this art. As far as I see it, it's a matter of taste, of understanding how different woods appear in different cuts, how colours play together, and after all, of a patient and meticulous technique. There are also enough examples of people who have had the possibility to inherit the art but cannot make it with their own hands...
