I'm 47 years old, combination skin. I've used all three formulas Revlon has made of this makeup over the years. I've been using makeup since I was 19 years old and I can't tell you how much of it I've tried, from drugstore to luxury brands. And I always end up coming back to ColorStay, for me it's simply unbeatable!.

I am 39 years old and I cant believe I found this foundation just now when I could have had perfect base all these years...I've tried so many foundations and after a few hours I get shiny face with creasing and the foundation sinking into my pores and makes them look huge. I could not believe my eyes when after 12 hours of wearing revlon foundation it looked as perfect as when I applied it! Totally matte, even, no pores and not a crease in sight. Amazing!! I am blown away.

I'm so glad you reviewed this! It is my absolute favorite foundation. I'm 38, moderate melasma. I use the normal/dry formula on my oily skin. It's perfect over Paula's Choice Resist Daily Hydrating Fluid spf 50 and Becca Backlight primer. I set it with Maybelline Better Skin powder. Gorgeous coverage. Lasts aaaallll day!

Hi Angie,. I have worn this foundation off and on for 20 years as well as tried almost everything else out there! I am 64 with combo, acne prone skin, large pores, moderate wrinkles and a bit of rosacea. This is still my go-to foundation. I now apply it liberally, but with an IT Cosmetics brush and a tiny dusting of powder on my t-zone. It's a flawless finish for my purposes but I would never expect it to last more than 6 hours on my skin even with a little powder touch up!

  • @OpalRavenna

I have been using the normal/dry Colorstay (natural beige) for at least 5 years. It works well for me. I do not wear over a sunscreen, but do apply over a lightweight primer...I rotate between Stila, Mary Kay and Smashbox. I set with the Colorstay translucent pressed powder and it lasts all day without shine. The price point is terrific, there are coupons available and Ulta has a buy one get one half off regularly, so I stock up. I'm 60 and get compliments all the time on my skin and makeup.

I use the normal to dry formula on my sensitive, splotchy skin. I am 50 years old so I have some fine to medium depth wrinkles. I had no problems and loved how it looked. I thought it made my pores look smaller and didn't settle into my wrinkles. I normally wear EL Double Wear Lite but wanted a little more coverage and this foundation is perfect

    • @jenniferannfox2316

It really is the best. People have tounderstand with mature or even not mature skin, you cannot expect any foundation to stay perfect for24 hours. This is why if you have an oily T zone that you touch up with something, translucent powder or such through the day if needed. The phone test amuses me because I don't know anyone with oily skin with or without foundation that the phone wouldn't do this. Menopausal skin if oily will almost be like teen skin and the oiliness is due to low estrogen, with dominance of androgens. If oily, use oil blotters with this makeup and it will really help alot.

I'm not over 50, but I am 36 and starting to notice fine lines under my inner eyes, and also pores on my upper cheek/cheek bones are more noticeable. I wear this foundation for the normal to dry skin almost daily. Recently I've Been mixing it with my Milani Conceal & perfect (started this because the Milani is a shade too dark and Revlon a shade or 2 too light)and I'm loving the combination of the 2 together! It gives me such a flawless look without looking cakey and lasts a good 9 hrs before I feel like it's starting to wear off a bit and break up a bit. I also use the Fit Me concealer in #10 and it's great with these foundations also. I should also add that I apply the foundation with a flat top buffing type foundation brush initially and then I go over it with a beauty blender. If I need another layer then I put more on by dotting it with my finger and then use beauty blender to blend it out.

@@matheya (I knoe this if a old post, but...)
I need the one for dry skin. Initially, I had not seen this review, so didnt know there were 2 of these foundations, so I bought the one for oily, bc I needed a foundation, or mixing medium to lighten another makeup, , & this came in light shades. Weeks later I saw they also had 1 for dry skin which would have suited me better, although the formula for oily isn't too bad. Anyway, I'm impressed by this bc the price is amazingly low if you purchase it at a discount drug store. The formula is nice and thin, kinda watery which is what I like, especially to mix into another, however I found I could wear it on its own!! Now I need to get the one for dry, since it's so inexpensive, it will be more helpful, since I'm normal to dry. I've recently started trying out matte foundations to see how they look, since it's been many years since I bought makeup, just started again last November wearing it again. And what a world I have discovered here!🌝👀🤗

We do listen to you Angie. I now wear a separate sunscreen every day. I bought the Cerave sunscreen to try out and so far so good but I also haven't worn it with all the different foundations I wear. Previous to finding your channel I did wear sunscreen everyday but it was whatever was in my face moisturizer unless I knew I was going to be out in the sun for a prolonged period of time. Now I figured with the Retin-A a separate sunscreen is probably a good idea especially since that's what you do. Have a great weekend!

I'm 35 and I have normal to dry skin (slightly more dry). This is my favorite drug store foundation. I use the Becca Backlight Priming Filter underneath it because I like that it moisturizes my face. I don't require a primer to make my foundation stick in place. I just need something to hydrate and this works well for me under this foundation.

  • @alisonschmidtcarson4547

I love the ColorStay for normal to dry. I have dry skin everywhere but my jawline and chin - there I'm much more oily and acne prone. In the summer I use the combo/oily version on the lower half of my face. Anyway, I think it looks really natural and wears forever. I use Benefits Porefessional as my primer. It's definitely a day-to-day go to for me. Love this series and now have the Channel holy grail on my Christmas wishlist.
On a broader note, your videos have been super helpful for me. I'm not over 50 - about to turn 36 - and recently watched your updated skin care routines. I am so impressed with the results you've had and bought everything immediately. I'm only about 7 days into this new skin care routine, but *OMG, I can barely believe how much better my skin is looking already*! It's insane. If I didn't see it first hand, I don't know if I'd believe it. My skin tone is more even, my pores look so, so much smaller, my texture has improved. It's incredible. So, thank you for sharing all that information with us. It is an absolute gamer changer for my skin, and I'm so grateful!

You should try revlon colorstay whipped in the glass jar. It goes on so smooth especially with fingers, photographs beautifully and is the best I've been able to find so far (high end or low end) on large pores. It doesn't settle in to fine lines and can be applied medium to full coverage.

This is my day-to-day foundation, it works great for me over either a mineral or chemical sunscreen, and I use with a moisturizing primer. It looks fabulous for me until about the 14-16 hour mark. I use a beauty sponge or Artis brush for application and results are the same, no streaking, patching or visible foundation. My skin is normal dry, slightly oily in the t zone in Summer. I tried it because MsKristinn321 mentioned it on her channel, otherwise it wasn't she something I'd have even glanced at. XO Karen

I'm 52 and Colorstay in normal to dry is my HG. My skin routine is Clinique Moisture Surge, Simple Moisturizer, and Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair. It doesn't seem to matter what primer I use but I don't like the pore filler type primers. I can either use the Real Techniques sponge or a flat top kabuki brush and my skin ends up looking hydrated and flawless. It also lasts 10-12 hours.

I've never liked the feel of liquid foundation, so my holy grail foundation is the IT Celebration Foundation Full Coverage Anti-aging Hydrating Powder Foundation in medium. I work it in with a kabuki brush and build on the coverage. I have very dry skin, and this seems to leave my skin looking and feeling soft, not cakey and I have to say, after 4 hours, it appears to look even nicer.

  • @08Stella

Hay hay! : - ) I had the exact same experience. As usual. I also had them both, 1.for oily skin and 2.for dry skin. The wearability is turly amazing and it photographed flawlessly, but up close and personal.... my god, it was like I stepped out a horror movie. I just couldn't make it work, no matter what skincare I used or what I mixed it with. It just looked 'masky'. It wasn't drying or separating it was just very very mask-looking. I hydrated extra, used masks before I started my day, exfoliated, even used a drop of Bio Oil to soften up my skin on top of my skin care routine, to lock in more moisture. Nothing helped. I believe I only succeeded once or twice, when I mixed 2 or 3 things in my palm with it and it was the right texture with the right amount of everything. I have to say that I did feel gorgeous those 2 days, all day long, - it didn't move at all, really fantastic - but I couldn't reproduce the same exact mixtture anymore. I ended up throwing them both away in the summer. Very alcoholic smell they had. The BEST Drugstore Foundation so far, however, is the **Rimmel London Wake-Me-Up**. Oh my, now, that has a great finish, not making the pores more visible, it covers just enough and gives a healthy glow. I always get compliments when I wear it, since I don't want to use my more expensive foundations on less important days. The only min point is that is oxidizes, so you mustn't use too much bronzer around the perimiter of your face. Also, the **Borjouis Healthy Mix Serum Foundation** is a very affordable, big Drugstore hit, I heard. I haven't tried that one yet... have you? You see, I notice, that they take these very good ones off the market. For example, I can't find the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer anymore. It was perfection for a fraction of the price!!! xx

I have extremely dry skin, and I love the RCS for dry/normal skin. I use a tiny amount, mix it in with a tiny bit of my cold cream and it gives a nice tint to my skin. I don't have many imperfections, so don't have a lot to cover, and I quite like it! I am very dry, though. I don't have to worry about oils peeking through (has its own upsides and downsides).

I want to try this under the bare minerals primer sunscreen. Thank you for another great review!!! I'm still hand cuffed to my It Cosmetics CC Cream. The 50 spf really works. So well that my face is ghostly white compared to my body during the summer! Like you, I'm a huge believer in sunscreen and my daughter has followed my advice by applying it to her face and neck daily. She's now 17, and this habit will serve her well! I wish my mother would have told me to use it, but she didn't even know! She's 64 and used to fry in the sun every summer. Her skin paid the price for sure and I hope to have much better skin than her when it get to that age. Being 43, having used sunscreen religiously since age 30, I can see that it is already paying off! I only wish I'd started younger! Love your channel for showing us gals over 40 and beyond what aging looks like these days!!! Your still beautiful and, dare I say, hot! It's a misconception that older women don't turn heads! It is not about trying to look 25, it's about looking the best we can whatever out age and having vitality and passion for life! That is beautiful! Looking great equals feeling great!

Thanks for the review. I see a lot of younger youtubers raving about it and have been curious. I have really dry skin with a little oil only at the sides of my nose. Thanks to the menopause my eczema is the worst it's been for years and I'm back on prescription creams. So far I don't have any patches on my face (probably due to the five or six layers of serums, oils and creams - plus sunscreen), but my skin is dry. I mainly wear a tinted moisturiser/concealer but I do want the option of a foundation for certain occasions. I am super pale (white mixers are my friends), so I am limited by shade from trying many foundations. Revlon does offer some paler shades which I will still need to mix, but not too bad. I may have to give it a try. Best wishes.

My future self is thanking you a thousand times over. It wasn't until a few years ago, when I found your channel, that I became more aware of which products had SPF to begin with. Now, I'm in my twenties so I may not remember everyyday but believe it or not, I actually buy full-blown sunscreen now hahah I don't just rely on the makeup!

Woohoo! It's foundation Friday! 😄 I like light coverage and have the cover girl Olay cream foundation but I use it sparingly over Bee Friendly face and eye cream ( mostly oils) in the winter with my desert dry skin or I use Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation I buy on Amazon... love this!

I have oily skin, and I must say the combo/oily is the best foundation I've used from the drugstore. I like using it over a mattifying sunscreen or matte moisturizer. My skin feels wonderfully dry almost all day. Which is great for my oily skin. I set it with the Maybelline master powder (loose silica powder). Is it perfect? No. Pretty good? Yes. Its long wearing, which is hard to find at the drugstore and covers well, not full coverage, but up to medium high.

Hi Angie. Have you ever tried Neova DNA Damage Control Silc Sheer 2.0 SPF 40 sunscreen? It is the best physical sunscreen I have ever used! I hated wearing sunscreen until I found this one! It's not shiny or greasy and will not sting your eyes. I wear liquid foundation every single day. It has no effect on the application, look or wear of any my foundations. I am a makeup junkie so I have used it with many many foundations including your favorite ChaneI one. It's about $45 if it's not on sale, but It's worth every penny. I hope you will try it if you haven't already. I love your videos. You are so thorough with your reviews. Seeing your before and after videos with Retin A inspired me to be more consistent with mine. I am 43 but wish I had started in my 30's. But better late than never.

Hi Angie! I have tried a TON of foundations as well and I tried the Revlon Colorstay for combo oily skin. I'm not a fan of primers because they have never worked for me. I used my normal clinique dramatically different moisturizer and WOW. I'm 48 and deal with the same issues as you. This stuff is impressive and now in the pile of holy grail foundations (I only have 2 so far lol). One day I will try the Chanel 😘.

I had been waiting for your test on these very foundations. Although they turned out more or less as I suspected, I'm still a bit disappointed, because I was hoping maybe one could be my "everyday" foundation. I will still try them, but, my skin is very much like yours; I'll take everything you've said into consideration. Thank you so much for always having such very informative videos, very thorough and dependable. Here's hoping you and your family have a very Merry Christmas! Sending love from Texas!

Hm, I'm intrigued by the Normal to Dry Skin, but as these things sit on top of the skin, I'm curious why the hyaluronic acid... I doubt the molecules can even penetrate. I love that it now has a pump, though.... I may check this out again. I do get tired of companies putting sunscreen into products, but at least this is mineral and not heat-producing ingredients, which irritate my rosacea. Thanks for the great review!

I use a couple drops of the Smashbox Primer oil around my mouth and cheeks where I tend to get dry. I've tried it with IT CC+, L'Oréal Pro Glow, Estée Lauder DW and a couple other random drugstore foundations and it works well with all of them. Worth a try!

I'm unsure of you've tried these but I'm 43 and I'm loving Tarte 12 Amazonian clay ... it's my fav. So comfortable and great coverage. Great ingredients. I'm now trying the Juice beauty and I'm liking it but it's not full coverage but for every day .. it's nice. And love the ingredients too. I'm going to try the Josie Maran next. I'm always looking for great ingredients and good coverage that feels great and lasts. I steer clear of drugstore brands because of the ingredients. I feel like foundation just like my skin care needs to be clean because it soaks into our skin. Being our largest organ, im a firm believer than just like with food, I don't need anything bad for me going into my body. I'm obsessed with my Think Dirty app that allows me to search products and get the list of ingredients and see how they are rated for toxicity and what each ingredient does and why or why not it can be harmful. In the US there is no laws preventing companies from using what they Wish with the exception of a small small list of toxic ingredients such as lead and formaldehyde. Where is in the European Union the band over 2000 ingredients that we still use in the US. Been doing a ton of research and it's quite alarming.

Thanks, Angie. With my very dry skin, this may work quite well. Although I've been using the Fiona Stiles for high-end, and the L'Oreal Pro Glow (although I hate that they are not cruelty-free). And, sorry, I don't wear sunscreen every time I go outside, because it is importat to get SOME sun, and I love mostly in the dark of night.

When I tried this in the Combo-Oily formula a few years ago, I noticed within a few hours of applying that bumps appeared on my skin. I tried it again a few days later, and that time I immediately started breaking out, so I decided not to take any more chances with it. The shade match with 150 Buff was one of the best for me, both high end and drugstore, so it bummed me out. But breakouts for me result in hyperpigmentation and other problems so they are a major dealbreaker, even though I have a really hard to match skintone shade.

This is my fave! But in general, i Could never use foundation without setting it with powder lol... I'm 51 and I'm sorry, powder will always be a must for me idc how old i get lol..i have oily/ combo skin. I have no issues with this foundation. I always use a damp sponge, that just seems to always be the winner no matter the foundation. I hate using brushes cuz they're always streaky for me, and I'm to lazy to constantly have to wash them 😅😅. at least sponges are easier to clean and easier to replace when needed and they're not that expensive! Thanks for the review!❤

I'm 48 and find Revlon Colorstay is my holy grail foundation - I can't understand why anyone would need a sunscreen under a foundation that already has an spf of 15 or 20. I prefer mineral foundation for every day wear and can stay sunburn free in full sun just with that, though when I want more coverage I go to the Colorstay. You said the wear was pretty amazing without anything under it, which is how I wear it, so at least there's that.

    • @AngieHotandFlashy
      @AngieHotandFlashy  7 років тому +1

In order to get the spf 15 or 20 stated on the foundation label you need to use 1/4 teaspoon of it. No one uses that much foundation so you're actually getting an spf of around 4 to 5.

Hello Angie, thanks for all your terrific instruction, I love watching. I have a request, I don't know if this a common request or uncommon.... I as a 54 year old, I find myself going toward a look somewhat like Vera Wang. She has great trademark type hair and very understated, if nill make-up. Could you feature something along those lines maybe not that stark but with what you feel would be the very best products that give the most dramatic difference but is minimalist? I use Retin A, sunscreen, mascara, color my eyebrows with shadow and use the same shadow to try to create depth like you have illustrated. I guess I'd like to incorporate a foundation but it has to be ultra light. Is it okay to use just foundation with a spf 30 alone? I have a hard time getting my mac blush to go on after a Loreal miracle blur-it beads up.
    Thanks, Lisa

I had the same itchy, burning feeling with the oily version
