Just went out in mine. She’s been popping and backfiring for a few months and finally just went limp on Tuesday. Glad there’s a video it’s my first time cracking into a bike engine
@@chriscausey3233 I own a 2008 Honda Shadow Spirit 750, a 1985 Honda Rebel CMX250, and a 1982 Honda CM450. Stopped driving cars 20 years ago. The Shadow is a very pretty and aesthically pleasing bike to look at, which is why I bought it... but it is not a well designed bike. I can rattle off a whole long laundry list of what they switched up to copy Harley and did wrong on it, compared to say My 1980's Honda CM450.
@@forgottenmotorcycles I have 40k on her now, never any problems. Owned a few years loved every bit, thinking about upgrading to the vtx 1300 but not sure on that yet.
I have a 92 Honda shadow vt1100c I love my bike I’ve done so much to it. 1st thing I did was get rid of the buckhorn handlebars. I have some 6in rise z bars and it feels so much better now
As I get a bit older, I am finding that my Goldwing is getting a little heavier each year. Just got my Shadow Sabre going again and am considering making it my touring bike.... I am watching your channel to see if you can make it to 100,000 miles. Saw your 60K mile vid and am waiting for the 70K mile vid. I do my own work as well and find the Honda to be easy to work on and maintain. Enjoy your channel.....stay safe out there...
Looks like you've got a wonderful 1500 Goldwing. That will be hard to beat. Love my Shadow, she is doing well with about 65,000 miles on her. Hoping to make it to 100k plus. Have had several Shadow owners tell me stories of their bikes with 150k plus on them. My Shadow isn't as luxurious as a Wing but does very well. Really wish she had a larger tank. With warmer weather coming I'm sure 70k video will be coming out soon. Wahoo!
Hey so i just replaced my stator and rectifier and now im getting a no start condition, seems like it has to do with the gears, would you consider making a short video on reinstalling all the starter gears correctly i belive im having a problem with the gear underneath the statir cover
Lucky, I checked the stator and it had an open in it so had to replace it. Rectifier/regulator was $39 more so I changed it too. Hardest thing about this job was the nice weather outside. Had to wait for bad weather to get myself inside to work on it. Wahoo!
@@forgottenmotorcycles Well I was wrong Its back to barely 12 charging so looks like I'm going to have to go thru the Stator replacement experience too. So how is that Stator going so far? If good, can you, please let me know the brand and I will get it too and will probably go with the same regulator you have and maybe ditch the mosfet one I installed.
@@Bricklinsv1970 My bike's charging fine so far. I struggled with what brand to buy on parts because there's so much variation in price. Ended up going with the expensive OEM parts from Honda. How about triple the cost of the cheapest part option. Think it was over $600 for stator and regulator at full price but I managed to get a 25% discount. So far going very well. Wish me luck.
@@forgottenmotorcycles My gut is telling me to go with oem aswel. Im going to bite the bullet and pay it up the bike is worth it and im the original owner shes my baby.
I have been watching all your videos and I love them! I have a question for you... In this video I noticed you have the Kuryakyn Mini Riot floor boards. What is the spline adapter part number you used to mount them? Did you have any issue installing the springs?
Thanks, love making the videos...enjoy riding all the bikes :) Looked up my amazon order and found this: Kuryakyn 8863 Splined Male Mount Peg Adapters. I actually didn't use the springs and didn't have any problems at all. The floor boards stayed down all the time and did bend us when I leaned into the corners. I really liked these floor boards. They added a lot of flexibility to the ride. Wahoo!
@@forgottenmotorcycles Awesome! I'll order them today. Question on your stator removal. Did you have a hard time getting the case cover off? Mine is really stuck on there.
I actually went with the Honda OEM parts for this job. I ride a lot of miles and wanted OEM for that reason. It did cost about double. Let me know what you do and how it works.
@@forgottenmotorcycles my coils came with plug wires but no boot to fit the plug i try to use old one i ca t get it off so im gona use the clip on from auto zone i hope they work
My 1100 shadow 98 battery poped n they said its rectifier? And the battery then fuses n still no start ?so i put coils ? Still no fire ? So do u think it stater ? Or UCI thanks

Good work, man. Those tri-drives are indeed awesome.
They are!
You should never have to replace this in a well designed bike
Beautiful motorcycle!

Okay, but how do I remover the rear crank case cover? Every video I see starts after that point and I can't figure it out!
Dang, I did this years ago and don't have the bike any longer. Wish I could remember.
This is good and useful information, I'll probably need to do this to my shadow 1100 eventually, great bike 👍
Love this bike. Can ride her all day long in almost any weather. How many miles do you have on your 1100?

Thought I had to do that same job but just changed the Voltage regulator to a Mosfet one and its fine now ;)

Can the stator and rectifier be tested before replacing?
Yes, the process is in the book. I did do this before replacing it. Can't remember the details of it but it is easy to do.
I just did my wife's 87 450 rebel new stator and rectafier this summer
