I don't think people understood the 8k label. The hdmi port the PS5 has is able to output 8k. That's it. There was never going to be 8k games. You could potentially play 8k videos and output them from the PS5.

Don’t forget, though they made a lot of shifts in their business after Jim Ryan left . we already know they went through and canceled projects. Now it seems like they’re just trying to salvage what they have and see if any of these projects are worth anything. It’s probably gonna take them years to undo the damage Jim Ryan did by green lighting too many live service projects. I could be wrong, but I feel like their first party output is going to really slow down these next couple years and they’re going to rely really heavy on third-party while they try to correct the ship.

It seems like a waste not to enable eyetracking on PC and Haptics, as while most PC VR won't support it now, Valve's next thing will have eyetracking. Like enabling those would make it more of a future proof headset for PC and lead to more sales. Plus mods exist, and I'm sure someone would make a mod for those. Also, it is a slap to the face having Half Life Alyx on there, everyone's been hoping for that for so long for PSVR 2. And much like a Bloodborne Remaster or Bloodborne 2 Sony just out right slaps us in the face. But oh well, I've been happy with the first year of PSVR 2. And there's some great stuff on the way like Behemoth, Metro, and whatever is next from the Resident Evil team. Also, would love if a OG Halo remake came to PS5. As long as they don't lose the feel of the game, because 343 really hasn't seemed to be able to get it right in any of their entries. Halo Infinite was their best attempt, but didn't quite get it in my opinion. So I'd rather they remake the old ones or do something else than keep trying and failing to get a new Halo right. Why remove it from the box I thought in 2021 the game The Tourists was the first and only native 8K, 60fps game that runs on Xbox Series X and PS5? Isn't that what Digital Foundry said in their video? So if it can run a game at 8K then why take it off the box? Supposedly it was not even upscaled it was native, of course it was a "minecraft" looking game but it still was able to do it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the halo games 343i have put out are absolute trash. I loved bungies halos from CE to reach but even mcc destroyed the feel/movement in all those games so there's not even that to look forward to. The only thing halo fans have to look forward to right now is that with the recent closing of other studios they might finally close 343i, that's the ONLY good news. Gears too unfortunately I loved those games. Xbox is literally about to stop selling consoles and become a publisher because of how bad those series fell off under the wrong teams

So, Microsofts plan was to become the biggest game publishers/developer from the beginning. They knew what they were doing when they acquired all those companies.
8K HDTVs were coming out for niche audience in 2020... aka cinema buffs who proly make 8K videos... because very few if anyone is making 8K videos at all and they're usually very niche... All 4K HDR Blu Ray disc format production was going on for a while and NO 8K 4K HDR Blu Ray disc format movies were made at all You need at least a minimum 75 inch HDTV scree. Size to appreciate 8K details Sony may have put that 8K for experimental videogames... remember on PS3 those niche games? And elite first party and third party games? Microsoft PAID some exclusive special deal for Dolby Vision exclusivity that has to do with Dolby Vision Gaming... they charge a SEPARATE LICENSE FEE for Dolby Vision for movies that is why HDR-10 is a no brainer as Dolby Vision is overrated and over hyped. Naughty Dog and Sony SHOULD wait and sit on The Last of Us Part 2 for PC until the second season of TLOU comes out... the reason is obvious... PC gamers will have a tendency to complain about Sony PS4 and PS5 ports, then they brag and talk down to "console" because they fear saying Sony PlayStation 5... then they whine about "exclusives are bad" but then they brag about "hey did you play Horizon or whatever at max settings blah blah blah.. games we played and beat and enjoyed two to five years ago back when they claimed "all consoles 2 are weak" and those SAME elitists make videos ranting and telling people to avoid buying a PS5...

While I'm still kinda curious about Concord, I do find it funny that the family friendly robot game managed to get more fanfare than the sci-fi online multiplayer shooter.
I think it's better to just bring the first game over to see how it performs in terms of player interest. The Master Chief Collection took YEARS to get into proper shape on Xbox and might not be worth porting to PS5 if the interest is low.
My guess is they would do this to get people interested in the franchise where in order to experience the rest of the series you need to get a Xbox or Gamepass.

I think Microsoft should scrap the Xbox and just make games.. Their console has sold under half the PS for 2 generations now, over a decade.. They could do a SEGA, easily, and next generation everyone would buy a PS and Xbox would instantly triple their number of potential customers with games.. PlayStation keeps Sony afloat, what the Xbox does for Microsoft is negligible.. If they were similarly priced and released at similar times the 360 wouldn’t have done what it did.. It’s also not a good look when Halo, Gears and Forza are the only games Xbox has going for it.. Not hating or anything, I just think they’d be better off and make far more money scrapping the console and making games, they could even make games for all platforms.. Hundreds of millions of potential customers.. They make a ton considering they now own Zenimax, Activision and Blizzard.

Sony literally said in their statement about the PS VR2 PC adapter that for the time being we would be missing a lot of its current features which means they're planning to add them through driver updates at some point after the adapter releases.

20:20 I have no clue why they want to do that the difference between 1080 to 1440p is a noticeable jump, 1440 to 4k is better but 4k to 8k? Barely any difference you'd have to be like 2 feet from your screen to even notice the difference. How big of a market could 8k be?
Maybe this will be their strategy for their live-service games. Have them be a bit cheaper compared to their other exclusives. But I don't work at Sony, so who knows.
@@onehitsword6800 Honestly even if the game ends up being not that great listing it at 40% of $60 is still a smart move on Sony's part because it gets more people to simply try the game versus just waiting and seeing if it's worth the money. Personally I'm still the wait and see type even if the game is cheaper but they're far more likely to get more initial out the gate sales at a lower price point.
Marketing wise... If the 8K label got some early adopters to buy a SONY 8K TV, (because then can and have te $) then for them is OK. Maybe they did not sold enough TVs to justify the label so is gone now. As Ryan said most people just knew the label was BS. But theres always a few ones that will go for the bait.

On the Last of Us 2 Remastered release on PC, if it does launch with season 2 on HBO, it could be more of an experiment than anything. They already saw the a boost with season 1 without a new title, so they could gauge if a new release makes much of a difference.
Since Valve wasn't interested in porting Half-Life Alyx to PSVR2 do we still think that posting PS5 games to Steam is a good idea? To me it looks like a no-brainer. You're just diluting the value of your platform if you provide your exclusive content on other platforms. It just is what it is. You may think that it isn't a significant bleed-over to PC, but the ones that you are losing to PC are the highest value gaming enthusiasts that YOU NEED on your platform for proper word of mouth.
I returned my PS5 the day I got it. The PS OS is broken and keeps downloading updates when the box is not checked. Then the updates in the past never fixed it. PS Plus Premium also sucks and took 4 trys to start streaming a PS3 game Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2. The games audio was popping, picture glitches, can't skip movie scenes in game, low frame rate. I will never stream a game again. Better off playing old games on a handheld emulator. I still got my PS4 and it also has the broken game update feature that no update has fixed. I returned the PS5 because Sony False Advertises that you can turn the game update off, and you can't. FRAUD!
Hell yeah, it’s false advertising. This has become a trend in electronics. I specifically bought a tv that could do 4k, 120hz, local dimming, Dolby vision and atmos with VRR. Some features weren’t even available for a year through an update and it can’t do more than one trick at a time. I bought it do everything. And let’s not forget Larry “major nelson” hyrb with Xbox saying that the original Xbox one was 4k ready when they were getting ready to launch it. That was an obvious lie.

Not sure what Microsoft has to "consider" at this point. Your console sales have been slowly withering since 2014, PC gamers don't like or trust you in the slightest and despise your launcher, and North America's infrastructure won't support wisdespread cloud gaming anytime in the next 15-20 years, even if gamers wanted it (they don't). There's nowhere left for Game Pass to expand into. It has already peaked. You either put your stuff on Nintendo and Sony, or you sit there with 100 billion in acquisitions and less revenue coming in than it costs to sustain that legion of studios. Microsoft could keep paying a deficit for a while, but Nadella's patience for it is gone. They're going third party, the only question is whether it's voluntarily or when the whole division gets sold off a piece at a time over a decade.
they could have at least enabled 8k output even if its just useless bilinear scaling.. that way they wouldn't technically be lying... sort of like how certain ps3 games and nearly all 360 games had 1080p written on the back , even though it was obviously not rendering (in most games) and was just scaling from 720p (or lower)...
The only game from xbox I’d buy would be SUNSET OVERDRIVE. Hifirush too but I need a demo first or physical release. I dont buy digital. I like to resell games if they are not keepers

I think why the features on psvr2 aren't on pc because of stortware problems i think they might add them features in the future and Its pretty interesting they put half life alex maybe in the future psvr2 release.
The psvr2 plus the adapter is still significantly cheaper than equivalent on the PC of the same specs, not sure I understand what the issue is? VR is also a nascent platform, completely wrong read, for me as a pc and ps5 player this is perfect I don't have another VR set and I can plug this into the dvi of my 4090 now without any additional hardware but that adapter for 60 bucks... How is that bad??? Lol

Glad Uncharted is officially over. 4 was a great sendoff to the series. The franchise being in Drunkman's vision sounds like a nightmare. Last of Us was not particularly great from the get-go, so they can ruin that franchise as much as they want.

Microsoft PAID some exclusive special deal for Dolby Vision exclusivity that has to do with Dolby Vision Gaming... they charge a SEPARATE LICENSE FEE for Dolby Vision for movies that is why HDR-10 is a no brainer as Dolby Vision is overrated and over hyped.
Naughty Dog and Sony SHOULD wait and sit on The Last of Us Part 2 for PC until the second season of TLOU comes out... the reason is obvious... PC gamers will have a tendency to complain about Sony PS4 and PS5 ports, then they brag and talk down to "console" because they fear saying Sony PlayStation 5... then they whine about "exclusives are bad" but then they brag about "hey did you play Horizon or whatever at max settings blah blah blah.. games we played and beat and enjoyed two to five years ago back when they claimed "all consoles 2 are weak" and those SAME elitists make videos ranting and telling people to avoid buying a PS5...

I think it's better to just bring the first game over to see how it performs in terms of player interest. The Master Chief Collection took YEARS to get into proper shape on Xbox and might not be worth porting to PS5 if the interest is low.
My guess is they would do this to get people interested in the franchise where in order to experience the rest of the series you need to get a Xbox or Gamepass.
Yeah I never understood why Sony in 2020 when there was almost no content easily available in 8k would slap that on the box. Maybe they wanted to future proof it, but I would think that once 8k content started becoming more accessible there would be better, updated hardware than what Sony put out. Very strange

I think Microsoft should scrap the Xbox and just make games.. Their console has sold under half the PS for 2 generations now, over a decade.. They could do a SEGA, easily, and next generation everyone would buy a PS and Xbox would instantly triple their number of potential customers with games..

I believe that happened solely due to halo and gears of war falling off. 343i had 12 years of experience and half a billion dollars to put out infinite. Idk what else they could need, they were given quite literally every resource including time

Not hating or anything, I just think they’d be better off and make far more money scrapping the console and making games, they could even make games for all platforms.. Hundreds of millions of potential customers.. They make a ton considering they now own Zenimax, Activision and Blizzard.

Sony literally said in their statement about the PS VR2 PC adapter that for the time being we would be missing a lot of its current features which means they're planning to add them through driver updates at some point after the adapter releases.

@@onehitsword6800 Honestly even if the game ends up being not that great listing it at 40% of $60 is still a smart move on Sony's part because it gets more people to simply try the game versus just waiting and seeing if it's worth the money. Personally I'm still the wait and see type even if the game is cheaper but they're far more likely to get more initial out the gate sales at a lower price point.
Marketing wise... If the 8K label got some early adopters to buy a SONY 8K TV, (because then can and have te $) then for them is OK. Maybe they did not sold enough TVs to justify the label so is gone now. As Ryan said most people just knew the label was BS. But theres always a few ones that will go for the bait.

On the Last of Us 2 Remastered release on PC, if it does launch with season 2 on HBO, it could be more of an experiment than anything. They already saw the a boost with season 1 without a new title, so they could gauge if a new release makes much of a difference.

Since Valve wasn't interested in porting Half-Life Alyx to PSVR2 do we still think that posting PS5 games to Steam is a good idea? To me it looks like a no-brainer. You're just diluting the value of your platform if you provide your exclusive content on other platforms. It just is what it is. You may think that it isn't a significant bleed-over to PC, but the ones that you are losing to PC are the highest value gaming enthusiasts that YOU NEED on your platform for proper word of mouth.
I returned my PS5 the day I got it. The PS OS is broken and keeps downloading updates when the box is not checked. Then the updates in the past never fixed it. PS Plus Premium also sucks and took 4 trys to start streaming a PS3 game Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2. The games audio was popping, picture glitches, can't skip movie scenes in game, low frame rate. I will never stream a game again. Better off playing old games on a handheld emulator. I still got my PS4 and it also has the broken game update feature that no update has fixed. I returned the PS5 because Sony False Advertises that you can turn the game update off, and you can't. FRAUD!
Hell yeah, it’s false advertising. This has become a trend in electronics. I specifically bought a tv that could do 4k, 120hz, local dimming, Dolby vision and atmos with VRR. Some features weren’t even available for a year through an update and it can’t do more than one trick at a time. I bought it do everything. And let’s not forget Larry “major nelson” hyrb with Xbox saying that the original Xbox one was 4k ready when they were getting ready to launch it. That was an obvious lie.

Not sure what Microsoft has to "consider" at this point. Your console sales have been slowly withering since 2014, PC gamers don't like or trust you in the slightest and despise your launcher, and North America's infrastructure won't support wisdespread cloud gaming anytime in the next 15-20 years, even if gamers wanted it (they don't).
There's nowhere left for Game Pass to expand into. It has already peaked. You either put your stuff on Nintendo and Sony, or you sit there with 100 billion in acquisitions and less revenue coming in than it costs to sustain that legion of studios. Microsoft could keep paying a deficit for a while, but Nadella's patience for it is gone. They're going third party, the only question is whether it's voluntarily or when the whole division gets sold off a piece at a time over a decade.
they could have at least enabled 8k output even if its just useless bilinear scaling.. that way they wouldn't technically be lying... sort of like how certain ps3 games and nearly all 360 games had 1080p written on the back , even though it was obviously not rendering (in most games) and was just scaling from 720p (or lower)...
The only game from xbox I’d buy would be SUNSET OVERDRIVE. Hifirush too but I need a demo first or physical release. I dont buy digital. I like to resell games if they are not keepers

The psvr2 plus the adapter is still significantly cheaper than equivalent on the PC of the same specs, not sure I understand what the issue is? VR is also a nascent platform, completely wrong read, for me as a pc and ps5 player this is perfect I don't have another VR set and I can plug this into the dvi of my 4090 now without any additional hardware but that adapter for 60 bucks... How is that bad??? Lol

Halo has gotten so bad with 343i at the helm I promise you no one wants what halo is right now. Not 4, 5, mcc, or infinite are worth playing whatsoever. Was a lifelong halo fan I beat ce through reach. Some people would never even believe it was as big as it was with the way 343 has dragged its legacy through a dumpster this last decade.

Glad Uncharted is officially over. 4 was a great sendoff to the series. The franchise being in Drunkman's vision sounds like a nightmare. Last of Us was not particularly great from the get-go, so they can ruin that franchise as much as they want.

Its very unlikely that Halo will come to PlayStation and I don’t think it’s a good idea for Microsoft to do that given that halo is a series so highly associated with the Xbox brand but I’d definitely buy halo if it came to ps5.
