I have a 1989 944 S2 with a beautiful body that has developed an engine block pinhole. I've decided to swap the motor out but I don't want a muscle car but more power than my stock 3.1 liter engine (looking for 300+ HP). I don't want a hack job or to overspend and have some undependable high maintenance beast motor.
@LS1Porch Ah! You're the guy that got my driver's side header! :) Sorry to hear your ride got wrecked - I am VERY close to getting mine on the road (legally). See you on the board!!
@Piperporsche180944 It's been a while, and lots of little things here and there. I honestly don't know, at this point! About $3k for the car and probably $8k elsewhere. It adds up, but i'm still below what it would have cost for a comparable new car or a Corvette!
The S2 transmission is plenty strong and will work fine, but the gearing is not ideal. Easy to sell the S2 transaxle and buy a Turbo transaxle later if you're unhappy. Good luck!

Great job! I don't know if I could do another!!

Nice job chris.

@nsaneon Got rear-ended, and the car had some other issues. I go by Porch on the 944hybrids site, been watching your build...very nice!!
Sounds good! Around how much did the conversion cost thus far, I have been tooling with the idea for quite a while.
@nsaneon I wish i had a choice!
@LS1Porch
Im jelous, I have been wanting a LS1 951 for so long.
What happened to the 1st one? Are you one 944hybrids site? Im skywalker01 there
stock transmission?
Yeah, stock Turbo transaxle. This car had an A0R (best of the Turbo transaxles--LSD and cooled), but any of the Turbo transaxles will work.
in the process of an ls swap. but i have a 944 s2 but not a turbo.

ill keep the cost down and keep it stock for now, but we will see!
thank you!!
