Which confidants in Persona 5 Royal are the best? I decided to make a tier list and explain why I feel like some character are more worth of your time than others #persona5royal #p5r

How is Hifumi only B tier? switching party members mid battle is like a MUST. It's a game changer of an ability. It has no business being optional with ho good it is. Maxing Hifumi is a must do and I would l think that automatically by default puts in her highest S tier.

Maruki should be his own tier because you need to max out his confident by the middle of November to play the last semester.
Same for Kasumi and Akechi

@@Sprachitektur wdym? Op said should be it’s own tier cuz need to max out Maruki to get the last semester, and i simply added that the same is true for Kasumi and Akechi. You need to max all 3 of em by mid November to get the canon ending
@@kleinuzimacki8873 you don't need to do all 3 . Just fo maruki to get the 3rd semester. Akechi gives you so story persona. And Kasumi gives that and much more scenes
Third semester tier
I'd say Takemi is top of A tier. I think the reason why she's that good is because even if you disregard her SP adhesive (which I'll admit is only pretty good until Mid Game), some of her items that you can get later on are extremely good substitutes for certain skills. For example, Life Ointment, which makes Samarecarm a waste of a slot on literally anyone. She also gets Magic Ointment or Physical Ointment, which can completely replace the need for Makarakarn and Tetrakarn. You can also get Kajaclear-R, which makes certain bosses that use stat buffs even easier, especially against Lavenza since it removes the need for Dekaja against her. She even has Renew-all, which can revive all allies with 100% HP. Only issue is that it's kinda expensive and Maria has that skill via Holy Benevolence for only 27 SP, but still... it's definitely something to consider.
I'd say Takemi being amazing for early + mid game plus having access to really good items on her final confidant rank definitely make her better than B tier. Hell, I'd say she's better than Iwai.
I'll use her more in my next playthrough
I relaised how powerfull Chariot cofidant was when i was rushing through mementos. like you lose no HP or SP from the instakills you gain. I been having issues with the different bosses that i feel like i should go back and redo the game completely but the, the best part is that both Ryuji and Takawami is on different times as well so leveling up Ryuji can be done at day while Takawami at night.
Iwai and his guts needs for his confidant was a little too high but i were dead set on making it.
From my playthrough experince
S: Chariot, Lovers, Moon, Sun, Star(Some fights i just need to be able to change on a moments notice) ,Councilor (in hindsight Temperance)
A: Emperor, Hanged, Hermit, Tower, Death,Faith
B: Empress(Her GUI benefits will definitely save me time gameplay wise),Heirophant, Preistess (Justice seem higher for a first time playthrough with hindsight i'd put them at A)
Next time ill make sure that i have the right personas to rush through the tiers and use the fusion mechanics way more actively
Never seem to have benefited low bond or grind being too much Strengh, Fortune.
Yoshida is an S-tier storyline wise, but yah his perks arent strictly necessary. His negotiations are good but thats it, not too useful. But fr his plotline was one of my favourites in the game. You could really see the impact his presence could have on Joker moving forward. Like imagine my man Joker, sidelining a phantom thief, all while being a popular and stand-up politician. If anyone could do it itd be him. But this list aint about the story, and i respect where you put everyone. I agree with everything you say, its fun to exploit everything like you mentioned.

there's one skill(which for some reason i thought it was hifumi but feel like its caroline,its the one where you can fuse with money and being able to recruit higher personas. now i only played og and in a current royal playthrough so i don't know what the changes are but those abilitys were extremely helpful to me
You’re talking about special treatment. It was rank 10 in vanilla, and 5 in this game. You could fuse higher level shadows for money. Rank 10 with yoshida let you recruit higher level shadows

They're all really strong, I'd say Ann, Makoto, and Haru is probably the best combo.
I'd argue that Iwai is A tier, because barrel mods make Yusuke and Makoto's guns far more useful in battle, and to a lesser extent every other party member
Hifumi A as well, because being able to swap out allies on any team member's turn (with max rank) is extremely helpful in some story or optional boss battles (especially Jose, Reaper, and Maruki)
the rest I pretty much agree with, ignoring the confidants required for 3rd semester of course (but I do think haru's life wall is an important consideration)
After listening to what I said about Iwai a few times I feel like a brainlet for not putting him in A tier tbh. I did think about Hifumi's placement a lot, and I just put her in B because I didn't utilize the party member swapping a whole lot during my playthroughs since I was able to brute force my way through so many things

Definitely not A maybe B at best. Plenty of ways to battle late game even with the strongest guns doesn't work nearly as well and you only get one clip

SP adhesive 3 is not great? Sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about, that is one of the best accessories out there that is more than solid for most of the game, even best in slot for some characters like Ann. I also disagree with Hifumi, not sure how you play the game, or what difficulty, but not being able to change characters mid battle is just shooting yourself in the foot. I absolutely rush her every time. Other than that, pretty on point.
I've played on every difficulty except easy. (My first runs are on safety so I can get trophies fast and then I make a separate save on hard). I'm pretty sure I explained that coffee/curry are my preferred methods for SP restoration. In my first ever play through I used SP adhesive 3 and it didn't really suit my needs by the point I was able to obtain it. I also grind a lot and have Joker and all of my party members set up in ways that don't really require me to switch. Switching would probably get the job done faster in some cases, but my teams are usually strong enough to deal with whatever themselves.
Some changes and additional info (note I have also played the game with a single party member and single arcana lines, so I can understand more of the mechanic’s) also I am purely talking about overal efficiency not how much I like the character.
Riuji and Acheki both unlock the GYM and the Jazz club respectively during their confidant and those are the only ways to get to those places. The gym is needed to make joker as powerful as possible and it is reasonable to sneak in at least 60 HP and 40 SP worth of training during your playthrough or even more. In low team member challenge runs it is a necessity. And the Jazz Club is really good to get the most out of chosen team members, including the Sunday drinks for build variety and Futaba. This make Akechj A tier by itself.
Iwai is C tier, gun customization is nice, especially if you can force status effects and can trigger them in the same move for a one more. This becomes really good on merciless but is underwhelming in other difficulties. C tier overall, better in Joker only runs but the one shock gun you get is all you ever really need
Ann and Makoto are also not A tier. While their abilities are good, outside of the normal team mate abilities they don’t do much for experienced players. Makoto tells you item drops and some attacks, which is useless if you already know the moves on repeat playthrough s and Ann’s only unique power is that she can blank some enemy turns. Which happens often enough but won’t trigger during the really hard boss fights and if she isn’t in your party. Both C or B tier. Also the Vegetable garden is nice but comes to late to have a bug impact. However consumable change and focus are nice B.
Sojiro is a n00b trap, since cooking wastes time and doesn’t heal much. You are better off star grinding. The kid of the tower archana is also really bad, since his things only work for jokers main gun attack. The best thing about him is the ability to guarantee a knockdown, which can help with negotiation or extra damage.
I placed Ann and Makoto in A tier strictly for the potential of their evolved personas. Regarding Sojiro, I don’t see how ranking him up is a noob trap, especially since you can have kawakami make the coffee/curry for you later to save time. There’s not much you can do in the evenings at the start, plus it raises kindness. Haru’s veggies may not be the biggest deal at the time you make them, but getting items with such powerful effects for free is still amazing and nice to have in a pinch.

Sure there isn’t much to do early in the game, but if you want to play efficiently, you should heavily prioritize grinding your social stats and ideally you try to get guts and proficiency up fast for Kawakami’s social link (there are movies to watch) or grind proficiency by making infiltration tools.
The best part about Sojiro, purely from an efficiency standpoint are the kindness points, which help with bonding with Futaba.
Trust me spending an evening making curry or coffee is rarely worth it. Early game you have better things to do, mid to late game you don’t need the regen.
Ann and Maktoto’s third semester moves are really good, I admit, but that is only for the very last stretch of the game and when compared with other unlocks that make the entire game easier worth much less
I recently just got into the game and i got a question. So i heard it easier to level these up with the corresponding persona. But does that mean just in the party or do they have to be equipped?
They only need to be in the party.

I don't blame you, they're all really good choices. I usually run ann, ryuji, and Morgana
I always take either ryuji or haru, but more often haru. She hits a lot of technicals with her psychic magic which is pretty nice and she works well with debilitate from the jazz club
I go with haru or morgana depending on what build I use makoto for, if makoto is my dedicated healer I use haru, otherwise I use morgana
Joker Ann and makoto are literally just normal gameplay. Your 3rd character is literally whatever you want it to be.
Yusuke is best boi, he has a permanent spot in my party as soon as I get him.
Him getting the late game full party buff is great, I usually give him the okumura trinket as well to buff casters for double dmg
My issue with Harus is how late it is, like sure you can get a little more SP items late game, but you get sojiro and the curry way earlier
The run I finally figured out how absurd chihaya was revolutionized the way I tackle time management in this game, she literally breaks p5r in half

She was already bad in the OG, but she got fucking nerfed in Royal. Security level is literally no concern at all because you no longer get kicked out of palaces at 100% security level
