Totally unrelated to this, but what is the dual knob to the right of the lighting controls? The knob itself controls chirp volume, and the 3-position ring turns on an orange or green light, and shoots two blue LEDs at me while chirping. Everything about it seems like some kind of radar, but my manual has nothing to say about radar. I’m about halfway through reading it. Thanks!
I believe the normal procedure from Mercedes is not to mess with the oil cooler. Still, it's a good idea to drain the cooler if the oil is very dirty with lots of miles on it.
@@AMGmeister Even if Mercedes doesn't recommend draining the oil cooler, I have always done it. There is a drain plug on the right side of the cooler. The whole purpose of draining the oil, is to get as much of the old oil out before putting the new oil in.
It depends on the health and age of the battery, how long it has been sitting without a charge, and so on. 11.8v standing voltage is usually fine to start most cars, depending on how many cold cranking amps it is able to deliver and if it will take a charge, but ideally it should sit at or slightly over 12v. 11.8 is usually too low if you're re-coding any electronics
This dude is one of the best staff to watch.
Does this car have the old head bolts? Are you going to do a video on that, cam adjuster rebuilding as well as lifter replacements?

great videos as usual - can you please do one on the mercedes r321 engine as used in the SL models - thanks
As I’m doing my oil change, I’ve also bought the 8 Cylinder Additive Kit (Step 1). Should I put all the oil in or leave 1qt out for the additive?
Hi Steven, you can adjust accordingly; it is always better to need to add a bit of oil vs overfilling.
But you didn't drain the oil cooler, that leaves about 1/2 qt of dirty oil left in the car.

You should actually drain both oil coolers. More than a quart of dirty oil
i have a question are 11.8v on battery is not to low?
