I watch a lot of videos like this where, as a firefighter, I just shake my head, and wonder, "What the heck are they thinking? (or not!)" This isn't one of them! This nozzle man knew his stuff. He didn't get excited. He got water on the fire in almost no time. He didn't get tunnel vision, as evidenced by the fact that he thought about other things, such as the garage door. Even the way he used his nozzle showed experience and ability. And, although it is rarely seen, I think attacking the fire with foam initially was brilliant! Great job guys!

*TECHNICALLY*... _dot dot dot_ The lift has a ratchet system that will prevent it from falling, should hydraulic pressure be lost. As to whether or not you should _trust_ that system to keep holding it up in a fire? Yeeeah, how about "No."

When I was in the Navy they taught us about metal fires, even saw a couple demonstrations. Thankfully I never had to fight one. Not something that is easy to deal with. Water typically makes them worse. That is what the really bright fire near the work bench was. Probably magnesium or possibly zinc but unlikely. The problem is when metal ignites it creates its own oxygen, fuel and heat, so water has little effect except to spread it around and because its so hot it breaks the water into hydrogen and oxygen that can also ignite. KEEP YOUR SHOPS CLEAN PEOPLE.

The instinct to not go under the garage door and go through the main door was solid. Garage doors can easily fail when the springs heat up or track fails. It’s too bad the brothers didn’t understand how to pop the hinges off the door using the hook. Solid knockdown using solid stream and tank water while making secondary water supply. Love seeing the hook dropped in the track to keep door from dropping down. Good stuff brothers.

    • @medtechfire22

Most do, the trouble is you still have to project over the background noise of the scene. From personal experience even with an amplified speaker on my mask, I have to project off saws, comms, water flow, my own breathing, and just the general noise in a fire.
Until we can cleanly, reliably, and safely isolate a voice to a ear at an affordable and deployable price, we're still at speaking above a normal talking level.
