Getting the cylinders aligned correctly is an art. And you are the artist
Yeah mate it takes a little time
@@themowerman I imagine it would
I know very little about these mowers and I'm now thinking of getting one. This video has been so helpful in helping me understand cylinder mowers and the QX cartridge system 👍
Your welcome mate .. I have lots of videos on them and also have videos coming out soon on the brand new cobra Fortis
Cool mower, probably more suited for golf courses here. Thanks Mick!
This is a home user model.. you would really need a fine cut cylinder for that..
that's an absolutely beautiful machine
Yeah it's a good looking girl
What a proper mower great job Mick.Allways good to have spare cylinder to hand. All the best to all the P s
Yo yo alright mate.. yeah it's a proper mower
Great job getting this Balmoral to cut correctly again
You are keeping it real with this reel mower 😂😜🤣
Lol
@@themowerman 👍😎😎👍
I’ve brought some special repair spray I’ve just done a video on, spray it on the problem area and it’s fixed, would have helped on this repair 😂 cheers Mick, top quality content as always!
Gday me old mucker.. yeah I did see a video pop up I will have to check it out.. have a good one mate
That’s a nice mower but it’s not good for the lawns around here great video Micksmowers
Yeah mate .. we love them over here
hi pal love your videos, youve helped me turn a free none running hayter harrier 48 pro in to a great machine, like your customer that keeps coming back i went for the cheap after market carb, was cheaper than a genuine rebuild kit, was smoking a bit and would pop like a teenagers 125, for the life of me couldnt figure it out, look at the choke when its off, the after market carb, the plastic bit the choke spring goes on is slightly to long and catching on the air box cover keeping it half on choke, hack saw cut 3mm of no more smoke or popping, sorry its off subject on this video, but thought it might be something for you to look at
Ok mate ta for the information
Another interesting one thanks Mick. I don't really get on with cylinder mowers so I'd rather ship blade work out as my previous attempts to set them up hasn't ended well!
The cartridge you removed looks like a certain scrapper, fair play to you if you can sort it.
Ta for watching mate
. I love a cylinder mower
In the past I have heated the bed knife up and straightened it out by taping it with a hammer on the bow and it sometimes springs back into shape ,a bit like panel beating.and then back lapping it .
Yes mate .. good idea
Great job, i was thinking golf course also.
Ta for watching mate
Fine job Mick Spot on 👍👍👍👍
Thanks me old mucker
Dam that's a banana! As soon as I saw it I said to myself that's bent"
Oh yeah it's bent like a banana
Nice video Mick, you make it look easy brother. 👍
It is easy.. if you take your time

Mick what you do is great. So I was wondering if you can help me I am looking for the outer cable throttle ends the plastic ones as I have tried getting them off a old outer cable with no joy many thanks Kev
Hi mate .. email me some photos of the ends your looking for micksmowers01@gmail.com
Had a similar problem with my 17s, one corner of the bottom knife was up and I couldn’t line it up properly - good whack or two with a dead blow hammer fixed it.
Love a big hammer to fix stuff.
@@themowerman 🤠✔️
Good video thanks. Any idea where I can get a new bed knife for my delux atco 17 inch mower. I think it’s about 1970 ish? Any advice appreciated.
@@sweepsbestpal.1017 eBay mate ..
This reminds me of those antique reel mowers when I was a kid everyone had them in the neighborhood without a motor. That was tough getting it out. Wow that cut the paper like nothing. I bet a cylinder would be pricey. How old is that? This was very interesting. Nice job brother 👊
Hi mate . The brand-new one is £2500.
@@themowerman Hey brother 👊Wow I bet the new ones are pricey.
It might not have been that repair that was stopping that cassette from coming out. I have a Qualcast Classic 35s. I used to swap cassettes out frequently, scarifier, aerator and the cutting cassette. I always used to use a power driver to tighten those 2 retaining bolts. Over time it bent the side plate in where the nut is welded on. This was stopping the cassette from coming out as it caught the end plate of the cassette. I ended up having to buy a used deck. Now I do them up only hand tight. Cassettes now slide in and out easily. It looked to me like your replacement cassette was still hard to get in.
Yeah ray.. treat it with a bit of love .... Tenter and gentle like bahahah
looks like conker has had a go at that Mick?
Baha yeah
Nice little volg 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks mate
Great video Mick. I have a cylinder that the adjustment bolts either side have been destroyed so I can't either turn them. I can't get a grinder in to cut a new slot for the screwdriver. Any ideas
Dremel multi tool??
As below
Time for some stout gloves Sir Mick.
Lol
Alright, Mick! Is it true that The Queen will be pushing her Balmoral mower (that you repaired) in the Platinum Jubilee parade?
It is true.. I had to give it the once over yesterday lol
