    I've had a bulging disc for 10 years that just herniated after a long road trip. I've seen so many doctors but this video is the best explanation of everything I've ever heard. Thank you!!!!!

    This guy is far more detailed than the rest. Gives you the Dos, and Don'ts, as well as the why.

    I had bulging disc years ago and recently had excruciating pain so I went back. They now said I have lumbar and femoral stenosis. I’ve watched a lot of your videos but nothing has helped 😫. Anyway hopefully soon I’ll get relief. Also you’re cute ☺️

    Thank you, this is the best explanation I’ve heard. My husband has had a bad back for 45 years from his days of being a soda delivery driver. A chiropractor told him the worst thing for him to do is lifting heavy cases and twisting to load the truck. He was also told that he has a birth defect where the base of his spine is supposed to be connected with cartilage and his is not leaving his muscles to do all of the work. Who knows, this was 1976.

    Some of the best information I've found. Is glute work also helpful? I'm going to look for that 28 day program.

    Thank you! My PT is the worst. She tells me I’m not in pain. She also says herniated disc doesn’t cause pain. She’s the supervisor but how can she tell me how I feel.

    I have bulging discs and a herniated disc. Got a back spasm off on on but the last one took the longest to heal but ever since that worse pain I haven't had another spasm not any pain not even warning pain like tenderness What might have happened. It's been 3 to 4 yrs without a spasm. I also have degenerative disease and sway back.

    I desperately need someone like you in Seattle! I have been to so many doctors and PT, nothing helps. Can you recommend someone in Seattle??

      I found “Disc Centers of America” have a WONDERFUL decompression table that really works!!! I’ve had 3 herniated discs in my lumbar spine for over a year now & it is the worst pain I have ever dealt with in my life. I’ve tried traction & decompression was much more helpful. I hope you can find one of these in Seattle if you are still in need. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    20:15 is this true for added weight on the body as well? For example: Holding dumbbells in the gym? Or is it more about the tightness w/my back muscles. I MUST say, my abs=WEAK. However, my ortho told me no more weights because they add extra load to the body and compress my spine (depressing). My PT said no forward bending ab exercises like sit ups because then the disc can "slip" back out again. I adhered to their advice and still have issues... You're videos are so well said

    Some of these exercises are similar to Robert Mackenzie. So, the video is a bit confusing. I think in another video you were showing some of the Mackenzie protocol. So, should one with a herniated disc and sciatica not do Mackenzie's protocol?

      Hey Mirjana! Unfortunately, it is rather complicated when comparing Mackenzie extension exercises against Williams flexion exercises. It depends on what is truly causing the pain. Sometimes the pain is related to the disc pinching a nerve. In this instance, people may find relief with the Mackenzie extension exercises. Sometimes the pain is due to the vertebrae pinching the nerve. In these instances, the Williams flexion exercises will likely be more beneficial. The best advice is to try each and see which feels better. Hope this helps!

    Why I see many people with disc problem feels painful when flexing their lumbar while feels relieved when extending the lumbar?

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey there! Great question! Discs can herniate in multiple directions, which can change the way pain is presented if the disc is causing pain. It is important to note that many people with herniated discs do not have pain from them at all. Often times, it is something else that is causing the pain. It would usually take a thorough evaluation to determine what precisely is causing the pain.

      thank you. Is it a good reasoning to do flexion ex if flexion is the relieving direction? or if flexion is increasing the pain, still beneficial to do the abd exercise?

    Hi - I am 41 yrs old. I have been struggling with lower back pain and both legs weakness since 2020. I did a lumbar Xray in 2021 and the ortho said I have mild lumbar spondylosis. I cannot walk more than 30 mins. After 30 mins, my lower back becomes sore (it is more of sore less than pain, it sometimes feels very cold and sore) and both my legs feel week, specially the knees pain. I went for physio muscle strength training for a month and ended up with more pain. Do you recommend I get a MRI done to find out the actual problem ? Please help.

      Yes he has them, one is tighten your top and bottom abs for as long as you can, all the time where ever you are even laying down keep em tight, like I did when I was teenager to make my stomach look thinner lol haha
