Thanks for sharing your story of SCAD. I wasn’t young when I had my SCAD, but was 59. My classic heart attack symptoms came on very quickly following two sharp pains in my chest. There was the terrible crushing pain in my chest, upper back, neck, shoulder and arm, a terrible feeling of impending doom, having to fight for breath, profuse sweating, and vomiting. At first, I was taken to a small hospital, where I was given Morphine, clot busting drugs, and had blood work. Soon after, I was sent two hours away, to a city hospital. About 3/4 of the way there, I had a Cardiac Arrest. I was revived and once at the hospital, was rushed to the Cath Lab. I had Balloon Angioplasty, and was given IV Heparin for several days. During this time, I had further tests that confirmed both my SCAD, and Fibromuscular Dysplasia. I have FMD in my Renal Arteries, Internal Carotids, and Iliac Arteries. Life has never been the same. It turns out that my sudden onset hypertension in my late 30s, was due to this. I currently have an Iliac Dissection. The damage to my heart has caused me to have ups and downs and the early stages of heart failure. The thought of having another SCAD, especially each time I get Angina, is very real. I hope more women share their SCAD stories, the connection really helps.

I’m a SCAD survivor. My first heart attack was at 8 months pregnant. I recovered. They let the split heal. .... 4 years later my alternate artery split. .. 4 years later I’m still here. I had stents. I live each day for now. Sending love to you x

At 54 years and very healthy and thin. I had S.C.A.D. For about 10 days prior I was having discomfort in my chest and my upper back, then I started having sweat around my neck in the night and really thirsty along with pain. I went to the doctor's twice and both times they did a ecg and didn't see any issues. I knew something was wrong and I took my concerns to prayer. The next morning while talking and eating breakfast and talking with my daughter I started to have a really bad pain in the middle of my chest as if I swollowed food down hard. But then I had this feeling that I needed help. I had my daughter wake up her sister and to call paramedics and call my husband home from work. Paramedics came, by then my jaw was hurting and I was lacking oxygen and my hands were crippling. They got me to to the hospital and did a ecg and confirmed I had a heart attack and sent me to the cath lab for an angiogram and on the table my coronery artery dissected and I coded, the docter intubated me and saved my life and put a stent in the artery. The first heart attack that day turns out to be a widow makers heart attack and second one s.c.a.d. Then one month later I had another heart attack with a stroke. I struggled with walking, and using my arms and talking but I recovered from it all. I have seizures that cripple me still and I just need to rest and I do recover. I'm 59 and for 6 days now I've been experiencing discomfort again in my chest and back and I went to the er, no heart attack but my cardiologist is sending me to get a P.E.T. Scan and guess we'll see and if it is another dissection hopefully they will be able to fix it before the major pain comes on. Thank you for doing this video and allowing me to share my story. I am a mother of six children and eight and soon nine grandchildren.

is there anyway you could release some form of contact with stephanie? my girlfriend is 19 and recently has had 2 cardiac episodes that were thought by doctors to have been caused by acid reflux, then they concluded myocarditis for 4 months, and in reality the episodes were heart attacks that were caused by SCAD. she has an almost identical story to yours, never a day went by that she wasn’t physically active, and now she’s been told that she will have to monitor her heart for the rest of her life or risk another SCAD occurring again. She has also lost 10-15% of function in the apex of her heart, but they found that it appears to be trying to contract, so i’m going to stay hopeful for god to grant a miracle. hearing your story has given me and her a beacon of hope, and i can’t thank you enough for sharing it with us. please reach out if you can

This is so interesting... My angiogram also didn't clearly show scad... The doctor said one of the branches of the coronary artery was 'petered out' but no clear tear or blockage seen. Had this MI about 4 weeks ago (8 weeks post partum) no other risk factors no issues with cholesterol. Im 38. They did an MRI and im waiting to see if theres anything can be seen on that

I had a SCAD heart attack the same day I delivered my baby at age 35. I was recommended to eat a heart healthy diet and then to go to the cardiac rehab center for aerobic excercise at least twice a week.

One can't help noticing that all of these voices of SCAD are female. I had SCAD in Nov 2020, and I happen to be a male triathlete (180 lbs. non-smoker, no previous signs) who had a tough morning swim workout, went home, had a sandwich, and then had a heart attack. No FMB (good news) I asked my cardiologist why this happened, and he said "We don't know". I asked will it happen again, and his response was "We don't know". (bad news) Warren Zevon once said, "Enjoy every sandwich" so, at this point, that's my plan.

If you have chest pain ask the doctor to measure your troponin levels. It will identify if you are having a heart attack, including a SCAD heart attack. This is something they would do when a man arrives because heart attacks are more common in men. But for women they sometimes do not do this test. Instead they check for gastritis, panic attack, and other things like that. You should also ask them if it might be Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD). Sometimes they call it a coronary dissection or a dissection.
There is more information here: www.mayo.edu/research/centers-programs/spontaneous-coronary-artery-dissection-scad/about. If you are told they do not know what the problem is, go to other medical professionals to ask them. If you watch the interviews of SCAD heart attack survivors you will see about half of them say they are alive because they or someone close to them told the doctors that they were not satisfied with the treatment and they wanted more to be done to find the cause of the chest pain. Here are the interviews: ua-cam.com/video/_lJ0_zZn4yU/v-deo.html

I have posted your comment on the SCAD Research Inc. page on Facebook here: facebook.com/ScadResearchInc/posts/3603751236347457. I have also invited others to reply here on UA-cam.
From the videos on the playlist at ua-cam.com/video/_lJ0_zZn4yU/v-deo.html I have learned that many women say they are living normally now and others say that their lives have changed and there are some things they choose not to do any more. One thing all of them say is that if you are being treated by doctors who treat you the same as a typical heart attack patient with the same drugs and the same physical therapy, you are not getting the best treatment there is for a SCAD heart attack.

I am grateful to say that I am a born again Christian and have been since I was 19.......just like depicted in this video a heart attack is some very scary pain!!!!however folks if you don’t know Christ as your savior then it burdens my soul to think that you are headed for a terrible place that is even far worse than any heart attack or any painful experience you might have on this earth called Hell where the Bible says the fire is never quenched and the worm dies not! Folks you are not promised tomorrow! If you want to know how to be saved from this horrible reality then please by all means don’t hesitate to comment right back so I can lead you to the savior! 2 Corinthians 6:2 clearly states “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation!” And Hebrews 3:15 clearly states, “Today if you hear his voice don’t harden your hearts! It is not me but the Holy Spirit that I pray reveals to you the truth of his precious gospel......John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes on him will not perish but have everlasting life! V 17 says then V 18 says whoever believes on the son is not condemned but whoever does not believe on the son is condemned already because he has not believed on the son whom God has sent! Also Acts 16:30-31 what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house I am not threatening anyone but just warning them what will happen if they reject this precious gift of eternal life! Christ died a horrible criminals death! He was beaten brutally mocked spit upon and endured countless hours of torture pain for all of our sins! Ppl go to hell because they reject that pardon for their sins! And Jesus is saying to them in Matthew 25:41 depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! Hell was only prepared for Satan and his angels! It is not God who threatens anyone it is the craziness of rejecting the free pardon of salvation! It’s like if you’re in court you’ve committed a crime say you murdered someone! Now if you say to that Judge hey I know I’ve done a terrible thing of murdering that person but I hear you’re a good judge and so I know you’ll be fair to me...... the judge is going to reply well yes you’re right about one thing I am a good judge and because I’m a good judge I’m going to see to it that you’re punished and that justice is served! Well then all of a sudden someone you don’t even know comes forward and says you know what I know he’s committed the crime he’s committed and he deserves to go to jail but I really don’t want to see him go to prison so I’ll just go to prison for him so he can go free! So if you accepted that offer you’d be free to leave the courtroom but if you didn’t well you’d be crazy and go to prison yourself! Well that’s exactly how it was 2,000 years ago! He is God in human flesh and he came to this earth lived a perfect sinless life and even though he knew that we had sinned and because of our sins deserved to die miserably but he said no I don’t want to see them suffer so I will go and take their punishment for them! Even though he did absolutely nothing wrong still he chose to take the punishment for our sins so we can be set free from the power bondages and consequences of our disobedience to God! Romans 5:8 says For God commends his love toward us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! 1 John 2:2 says he was made to be the propitiation for our sins! And not just for our sins but the sins of the whole world! 2 Corinthians 5:21 He who knew no sin became Sin for us that we would be made his righteousness! The truth is if you had to get to Heaven by your own effort then you cannot do it! Because Romans 3:10 says there is not one that does good! No Not One! Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death! But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord! But the good news is Romans 10:9 If we confess with our mouth and believes in our hearts that Christ died for our sins then was raised from the dead we will be saved! V 10 For it’s with the heart we believe and it’s with the mouth confession is made unto salvation! God gave us 10 commandments to follow and we’ve broken every one of them! And because God is a good God he cannot allow our disobedience to him to go unpunished! Well then like I just mentioned above his son Jesus stepped forward and said no I don’t want to see them punished so I will take their punishment for them! And also like I said he died a terrible substitute criminal’s death for us on a cross so now all we have to do is accept that payment for our sins and we can escape the terrible wrath of God that is to fall on them who do not accept this atonement that was sacrificed for our sins! Praise the lord Romans 10:13 says Whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved! And 1 Peter 1:4 you’re an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you! Christ clearly said in John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through me! Acts 4:12 clearly states that there is no other name given unto Heaven or earth by which we must be saved as there is salvation in no other! Jesus clearly states that there is clearly only one way to Salvation and it’s him that’s it! There is no other way! God Bless everyone who reads!
