@@sabredog1955 yeah, unfortunately our 3 best centers (who are all in top 5 in the world rn centers) are all in NHL playing in first field center positions so we really didn't have a great attack players expect Rantanen.

This game just underlined all the problems that Finland had in this tournament. Inefficient scoring and lousy Power play, horrible and insecure defense and especially goaltending! Deserved win for Canada, congratulations from Finland🇫🇮
Idk why did they play Larmi the whole tournament. In the first games you could clearly see that He was unsure and didn't do well enough. I was wishing for Heljanko to be in the goal, chl and finnish champion so idk wtf were our coaches doing

I've always had great respect and admiration for Finnish hockey. Love the skill, determination and class. Wasn't your year this year, but this tournament is special for it's uniqueness in that any team really can win if they bring their best game. The rosters are never the best that they can be.

Finland was better team to hold the puck and make games. They just cant score when there is chance. Canada does goals when they have opportunity. But its hockey and goals wins the games. gratz to Canada. Deserved win.

Congrats Canada, it was a deserved win, we just didn't play well enough this tournament. This game really shows all the problems we were facing this year, hope next year we'll be stronger again, with a better team.

Im glad we lost, we need to change the page.. I really hope Jalonen retires, its like he just taking all of hes Sauna buddys every year and dont wanna try anything else, we are stuck in the past.. Even our goal song has been the same probably almost 10 years now.. Its like oldman club who dont wanna change anything, its getting pretty boring allready, we need to change the page.
Canada played against us with our own medicine, thats what worldclass team and coach does, they played really smart... Respect and thankyou Canada.
Btw, 2 "Jalonen" teams dropped off today because of the same reason, nobody cant make the goals. I think Zcech have this same kinda feeling like i do right now with everything. New page. If we dont evolve, we gonna lose and lose every tournament, our Jalonen dont wanna evolve.
Now whats gonna happen is that they starting to blame all of our NHL stars again, and not the coach or playing style. We won 1 (1!!!!) tournament without NHL stars couple years ago, and now all they wanna is the most trashh team possible and keep the same boring playstyle so we "would win" again , its pretty funny.

Jalonen has been our best coach ever, 3 finals in a row with 2 golden medals. The strategy may be boring but it has been working. Its way too early to write something like this. Keep some respect for him!

He has been so succesful recent years that it's getting harmful. And how about passion, after the game Jalonen was interviewed and he didn't look like he was disappointed or anything. Overall seen, this tournament was very weak and looked like Finland wasn't hungry enough or something.

I would wanna see the full loaded Finnish team for once, but there is allways something, our players are in the NHL playoffs or they just dont wanna come or they are hurt, i really think some of them dont even wanna play with this Jalonen system... There is so much potential, but too little action.... We take this tournament way too serious now, Canada was having fun yesterday, they were all laughing and having fun, its all about that.... Our players was cursing every game and the bodylanguage was terrible with all of our players and the coach.....

Nah man, you lost to Canada, that's still respectable...no shame on that one. Sweden lost to _Latvia._ In an elimination game. I was _stunned_ when I found out - this is one of the biggest upsets in the history of the tournament (even considering that Sweden did not have a great team this year). Canada underestimates Latvia in the semifinal at their peril - this is a team with adequate NHL experience (6 players on Latvia have played at least one regular season game in the NHL), and considerable KHL experience (SO many Latvian players played in the KHL before the Russian government started to base their foreign policy on Putin's fever dreams, and the few that remained left their respective teams just as Dinamo Riga left the KHL in 2022). They have a home crowd cheering them on, and have only lost two games out of the 8 they've played. Also, their presumptive goaltender Arturs Silovs, has allowed just 16 goals in those games, making for a GAA of around 2.00 and a SV% of 0.926, both impressive stats considering that Latvia was ranked lower than 5 of the 8 teams against whom they competed. They gutted out a win vs. the dominant Swiss largely BECAUSE of Silovs, and he was even more critical a part of the victory in the QF yesterday (stopping 40 of 41 shots). They absolutely CAN beat Canada.
That said, if they do, it will easily top their upset victory vs. the Swedes. Neither Canada nor Sweden has a great team this year, but Canada has looked a lot better most of the time, and all but 1 of their players are NHLers (and Fantilli will be next year). They are a much steeper challenge for Latvia, but one that can certainly be overcome.
@@VoIcanoman Canada often underestimates teams in the regular round (as they did against Norway), but not in the playoff rounds. The way they beat Czechia and Finland, no one will remember the Norway loss now. I was telling people that it didn't matter because it was a meaningless game. Only the playoff round matters if you make it that far.
Canada did beat Latvia 6-0 in the preliminary game. I don't expect that big a win, but think that they will win a closer one.

Suomen kaikki pelaajat olivät täysiä epäonnistumisia tänä vuonna, myös valmentajat, jotka peluuttivat koko turnauksen ykköskenttää, joka selvästi ei toiminut missään vaiheessa. Kaiken lisäksi maalivahti peli oli erittäin huonoa turnauksessa.

We had so many chances to score but just couldn't and made horrible mistakes in defense that cost us and canada punished and scored every time, Congrats to canada, i'll be rooting for latvia to win the gold medal!

Definitely, 2023 isn't our year. We got knocked out in all the quarter finals in the men's U18, U20 & now this coming in 5th overall.
Time for Finland to change their style of play and work on their defends & power play. Hopefully, we will do better next year.

Ihan ansaittu tappio. Ihme hösäämistä. Hyökkäyset päättyi jatkuvasti kiekonmenetyksiin. Peli näytti meidän osalta joltain epätoivoselta aamujää höntsältä.
Oli aika nälätön ote Suomella turnauksen ajan. Alkusarjan peleissäkin kun näytti siltä että pelataan krapulassa, oli haastattelut tasoa "hyvää tekemistä" tai "oli hienoa lentää helikopterilla Jyväskylästä tänne". Tässä pelissä nähtiin jo vähän parempaa kiekkoa, mutta loppupelistä tuli niin kiire että homma meni epätoivoisten pitkien syöttöjen ruikkimiseksi.
Hyvä että hävittiin. Oli aika saada vähän korville.

Canada was also lucky on the way. the goalkeeper saved many situations. Finland's goalkeeper conceded too easily. Finland controlled better and had more chances. but can't do anything

Olkinuoralle ei edes mahdollisuutta, kuitenkin viime vuonna paineet kesti. Tässä nähtiin että ei se hyvä seura tasolla pelaaminen siirtynyt kisoihin larmilla. Olisi luullut että heljanko pääsee pelaamaan edes unkari pelin... Tämän lisäksi samat miehet taas kisoissa. Vaikea se on samoilla miehillä jatkaa menestyksen tekoa vuodesta toiseen, se on nähty monissa lajeissa

Se nähtiin nyt, jokainen maa ties tasan tarkkaan mitä me oltiin tekemässä, Kanada jopa pelas meitä vastaan MEIÄN OMALLA pelityylillä, Jalonen ei reagoinu mitenkää, Kanadan valmentaja vei Jalosta ku pikkupoikaa koko pelin aikana... Siinä on myös syy miks Jalonen ei lähe NHÄLLÄÄ, siellä reagoidaan heti tilanteisii, Jalonen on liian kaavoihi kangistunu.... Se ei myöskään saanut tota joukkuetta ollenkaan toimii yhessä....Ja nii, mokke valinta oli myös tosi pahasti pielessä, kaikki kel on älliä yläkerrassa näki heti että Larmi ei oo valmis, se meininki oli ihan liian huteraa. Tää koko turnaus meni 100% Jalosen piikkiin, ei Rantasen tai muiden NHL pelaajien, vaan Jalosen... Meiän pelityylin on kehityttävä ja myös pelaajien on pikkuhiljaa jo vaihduttava... After the loss to Norway there were a lot of Canadians moaning and whining about not having best team of NHL players and yatayata that dead horse has been beaten to death because we all know NHL and Stanley cup will always be more important the than the iihf tournaments thats just the way it is. I told everyone including the moaning Canadians talking trash about this team Canada rooster " this is the worst Canadian team ever and so on".This so called worst Canadian rooster is in the semifinals and i wount be surprised if they go all the way i think only the US will give them a run for the money. Never write any team Canada rooster off Because Canada is after all Canada. As a Norwegian I hope Canada wins the final because then we can joke and brag that we beat the worldchampions;))).

Canada has many good players outside NHL
Norway played good to win that game against Canada. But, I agree. Too many people were complaining about the Canadian team. I too was telling them that the regular round doesn't matter if they lose a game or two. Canada always steps up their game in the playoff round. Now, they just need to beat Latvia and they are in the gold medal game. The preliminary round loses will now be forgotten.
It will likely be Canada vs. USA for the gold. Either team could win.
