About The Boys: THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.

He owns pretty much every scene he is in. I love the unpredictable nature of this character, you always feel unsettled watching him, knowing that he might snap at any moment.
@@AGuyWithAUsername1 - hehe 😏
I don’t believe his character to be unpredictable at all, his character is made pretty clear that he’s childish and does whatever he wants, and children are pretty predictable.
Anthony Starr's performance is incredible
@@Alababm he's "unpredictable" in the sense that you never know if you're going to survive a conversation with him, or if he is going to talk himself into a rage and squash your brain like a grape.

@@Zain94336 Bruh you're so dumb. Him having a bar fight = being Homelander. Spot on lmao.
Facts
the tragedy of his character is that he wants everyone to love him while also threatening to kill everyone at all times
Kinda like narcissistic people. They want to be loved by everyone, but when you get close and personal to them, turns out they're shitty manipulative people
Like all bullies.
It perfectly portraits a superiority complex
I watch and think "He's LITERALLY ME!"
We've all been there.
Reminds me of God
I love how in the first seconds in the clip, he was genuinely shocked that his fans like him to kill someone in public. Most of the time, he only does it when there's no camera or his fans.
You just made me question if he’s the villain or are the “civilians” the villains?… he probably is though being a nazi lover and a rapist
Yeah it really showcases the mindset of the type of "supporters" he still has left.
Which leaves season 4 pretty terrifying as to what he is capable off, now he knows he can get away with it, can't wait to see it 😂👍
He actually had a reason to do that though. The guy could've thrown that to homelander instead of his son
@@goodxd701 A reason to k*ll someone because someone threw something that didn't even hurt Ryan?? Please say sike.
Homelander is one of the best written/acted characters I have seen. I have never seen a character that is so disgustingly evil that you can still sympathize with and understand why they’re so sick. It’s truly amazing and I await every season with excitement
Tried this show and personally I don't agree, the superhero market is way over saturated and I can't get over how he looks like he has a pound of makeup on his face
@@StonedCabbage this is a satire on superheroes, what u said makes no sense
@@Cfreezy12 yes it does, there's way too many superhero movies and TV shows to the point it's becoming exhausting. Although I did enjoy the new Batman but that's probably cause it was more grounded in realism
@@StonedCabbage the boys isn’t a superhero show, literally no one in this show who has superpowers besides like 2 people are good. Homelander, atrain, the deep, black noir and pretty much every other supe is evil and could care less about normal people
@@Cfreezy12 that doesn't make any difference lol it's still categorized under superhero related material. It deals with tight suits, capes, and superpowers
In my opinion he’s completely stolen the show - I love frenchie and the boys and a lot of the others, but Antony Starr’s acting is absolutely unreal. He reminds me of when I first saw heath ledgers version of the joker and how his acting and portrayal of that character stole the entire movie and won the audience over despite the fact he was a villain. THATS how good Antony Starr is - and it’s been getting exponentially better each season too
Idk, to me it’s literally the same shit the whole time. Looks crazy, talks crazy; doesn’t do anything. He’s a one trick pony and it’s boring. Likely because this season’s writing was weak, and just made him do the same old face over and over
I think the Boys are too cringey, in Season 1 they were fine but Season 2 and 3 they’ve just gone extreme cringe
Hated The Dark Knight movie because it was contrived and poorly written. But Heath Ledger did a good job acting in it.
Agreed! He is amazing!
IMO, he has Jack Nicholson/Jack Torrance energy!
By far one of the best villain in TV history

He is homelander...perfect casting
The series is not just about super heroes. This represents every public figure, politicians, celebrities ever existed. Some may be good, some may be bad. We never know!
Hence why he wears the USA cape
I mean are there any heroes in this show? They all look like villains and anti-heroes to me.
Probably Starlight? Idek
I think what's so scary about Homelander, powers non-withstanding, is he's entirely unpredictable. He's not insane in the sense that he believes his radio is sending him messages from aliens. He's actually a very good example of what would happen if you took a normal human, denied them love and compassion as a child, and gave them insane powers. He has no fear of reprecussion, just a fear of being hated. So as long as he can do something and it not be broadcast to his fans, he honestly doesn't care. There's no appeasing him either. He likes being loved on a broad scale, not on an individual one. You as an individual could fawn over him or cuss him out, and he's just as likely to kill you either way.
In a word: Sociopath.
@@user-s4k9s399 Idk if I'd call that sociopathic behaviour. He cares what society thinks. I don't think I'd call it psycopathy either. Idek what to call it. He doesn't see non supes a people.

Homelander is one of those characters where every time someone even slightly annoys or inconveniences him my first thought is he's gonna kill him
He's relatable to me
@@nanajpsure tough guy, nice pfp😂
This is such a symbol for people's misuse of power. What normal people would do if they had the powers of Superman. You can see it every time someone has the slightest power in real life. Whenever someone is a supervisor, whenever someone cuts me off to go slow and then speeds up to 90 when I have a chance to get around them later on the freeway even though I wasn't tailgating and there was no reason for it, this is every person who called the cops on their neighbors for leaving their home during covid.
Homelander wasnt by any means a normal guy with powers he had killed multiple people as a child by hugging them and spent many years in a white room and stilwell said that they had tested all weapons on him meaning he was basically treated like an scp and then was under vougths leash. If a normal person got powers they would probally try make some money of it.
No its not, Homelander is not a normal person he is a psycho
When someone is insecure and powerless, they will usually abuse their own power. Homelander was treated like a test subject and had no power during his childhood so he needs to dominate everyone around him in adulthood.
Imagining I have the power of Superman,
I wouldn't be Homelander
I would be a million times.. no billion times more evil
That is, if I have the same childhood
Unpredictable, Scary, Unsettling.

@dietermetzger4686I’ve gotten a little bored of Frenchie but the tension that Homelander brings to a room is must-see every time
Despite being a hero fan, and liking pretty much all of the MCU, gotta say that the deconstruction and mental degradation of Homelander trough the three seasons is so well made that I just fell for it. The little face movements, the tone and the constant look of "I'm about to loose my shit" is so well portrayed by Starr. Favorite character in this show.
Besides, knowing that DIABOLICAL ep 8 is canon, those flashbacks and references to future happenings in the show just makes it even better
