- I made this video for my Paint The Way Facebook Group members who were asking about colour palettes and planning them for a painting. There's so many ways to choose or deal with colour. Here I talk about a few ways I approach colour when considering palettes for my paintings.
Feel free to look up Paint The Way and ask to join! Love to see you there.
first time I have learned so much about colors and decisions making Thanks so much
Thank you for all of your information .
That was so interesting. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing with us.
Thanks for the varied input you have provided here.. Colours are challenging 😀
Amazing, great and helpful information. Thank you, Pauline. And I like your work very much! ❤️☀️❤️
That was SOOO helpful Pauline...thank you! So much info packed into that little vid...I studied art for a couple of years and never learned as much as I did today.
I have work \ exploration to do! Appreciate your generosity.
Thanks, Pauline. These are really helpful suggestions.
Wow...your open sharing is so helpful! Makes me feel better about just exploring and following the process that presents itself.
Thank you so much, no-one has ever explained colour/mixing/combination like this before. So helpfu!
That was just absolutely fabulous Pauline. Thank you so much. Many ideas to follow now. I love colour and want to paint intuitively and not be so much in my head but having said that I know with more knowledge about colour I will be able to find colours more easily and have a broader range to choose from.
Love your work, Pauline. So much of what you've said resonates with me! Thank you for giving me a little taste of your world!! It was really inspirational.
You are so welcome
Thank you so much for the wealth of information and inspiration here! I am a fellow paint swatch lover myself! I used to go so often that the hardware store guy recognized me and then just gave me and entire set of all of the Benjamin Moore colour swatches...if memory serves, I hugged him lol! Happy day! :)
Wow! Just wow! There is so much valuable info in this video. THANK YOU ❤️
New subbie here. I think I found a kindred spirit. :-) I have been coaching artists of all kinds for over 40 years and when I see what you are up to, I remember why. I am an artist that loves art and art exploration. I have been this way all my life... and now at 66, I love it that I can keep exploring all of it! Thanks for this video. Great insights... and it is nice to know I am not the only person with lots of paint chips. LOL :-)
What a lovely compliment and message Lee. I’m sorry I’ve just seen it now! Stay well, stay creative!
Muchas Gracias Pailine por tan abundante información y experiencia compartida...
saludos.
Thank you , you went all out with your info. I will be a subscriber!
Glad you found it helpful Karen!
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing. Inspiring!
You are so welcome Theresa
Very nice video, thank you for sharing your processes and resources. I love your work and from one artist to another , bravo to how organised you are ....so lovely that you keep such great record of what you do, your colour mixing & experiments.. it is inspiring me to have a more disciplined approach ..spontaneity is great , i have plenty of that , so now I must challenge myself to also document my work & progress better. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for a wonderful color study video.
I loved your video! Thanks!
Great information, Pauline. I confess I need to spend more time on Sketchbook exploration. I think it would save me tons of time and money. Thank you!
I learned a way to harmonize a whole painting is to take a drop of each color in the painting and mix with each color you mix!
Fantastic. I love the idea of the hardware store swatches, I'm definitely going to get some. Thank you for sharing (-: Marion
Wonderful! Thank you so much 🙏💜🙏
Love this talk on colors. I'm also wondering what your system is for storing paintings. It look like trays of paintings in the corner.?
I like your videos, think I learned a lot of them. But you mentioned big palettes, and I wonder what you use as palette.
Thank you for explaining your color process. What is your choice of journal/sketchbook?
You betcha. It's important to try so many different things so you can get a sense of what resonates with you! : )
very grateful for all the information you so generously shared! incredibly useful and helpful. I'm only sad that you stopped showing us that awesome stack of pages you had been working on halfway through😁
Glad it was helpful! I have so much to show, it would go on and on and on! : )
@@paulinejansart and that would be a problem because????🤣🤣
Thank you.
Hello Pauline.....great video, as always! For your works on paper....what type paper do you use and suggest? The works on paper look marvelous in this video. Thanks for showing some of your process. I hope to hear back from you.
Hello Angela. Thank you so much for your comment. I use all sorts of paper and sketchbooks. The key for me is setting myself up for freedom. If the paper for exploration is too pricey I might not sink into exploration and get lured into making a perfect piece. I buy various weights and test their resilience and performance. For actually creating works on paper I seek out a hardier brand but couldn’t actually tell you which as I switch that up as well..
@@paulinejansart thank you so much Pauline. I agree.....paper is to be painted on and used....not saved. That mindset in the past kept me bound. Love your art. I learned of you from watching you interview with Sandra of Tap Into Your Creativity❤❤
@@angelag9346 How wonderful! Love Sandra. You are most welcome. Yes, finding the freedom zone, right?
@@paulinejansart wish I lived close to you.....your studio looks amazing! Ever travel to the U.S.A.? Ohio would love to have you visit!!😉
Very informative.
I know this video is older but just wanted to ask what your favourite sketchbook is for your paint explorations? The multi-media one I have isn't great. Thanks!
I don`t see the link for the color wheel. i love your videos
Pauline, do you get that paper already 12x12, or do you cut it?
No, this wasn't helpful. This was a wonderful masterclass. Thank you so much. 🖤🖤🖤
