  • This video isn’t meant to be a negative review of the Active 2.0 pressure washer, or Active as a brand. If anything, I want people to learn from my mistakes and invest in the proper equipment needed to make sure this amazing machine lasts longer than 10 months.
    I really have enjoyed this pressure washer. It performs well, it’s simple, and it’s light and compact. If I had the chance I would use it again. Please don’t let this review keep you from buying an Active 2.0 if you’re on the fence. The product is great, I’m an idiot.
    Also, if you buy directly from Active they offer free shipping and no sales tax (US residents only I think).

    Thanks for making the video. Mine began leaking water after 15 months. So I contacted Active and got a replacement. The unit I bought had the serial number right on top of it. Also, I purchased it directly from Active so they had the information. The replacement unit has no serial number. Not sure what that’s all about. It took less than a week for the replacement to arrive and they told me to toss the leaking one out. Good luck.

    This sucks man. From this video, you seem like a very honest and reasonable person. I think Active should have honored their warranty. Since you're in California, we have consumer protection laws which doesn't require you to keep boxes for warranty claims. As long as you have proof of purchase -- as you do with receipts -- then you should be able to claim warranty service. Even though Active may not be based in CA, their USA website sells to CA customers and thus they will have to abide by CA consumer protection laws. Look into it. You should be able to file a warranty claim without the box as long as you have proof of purchase. Did you buy your first unit directly from Active or through some 3rd party seller? If it was through an authorize re-seller, Active is legally required to honor the warranty. Not honoring their warranty because of the use of an aftermarket hose is questionable. I believe you have legal recourse but of course that takes time, effort, and a little bit of money to sue them in small claims court.

      I’m not really the type of guy to sue for things that aren’t life threatening. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t get a new one through warranty, but it’s not the end of the world. Also, I’m trying to grow this channel and it wouldn’t be a good look if the first thing I do with my channel is sue. I appreciate the suggestion though. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

      @@thedrivewaydetailer 🤣 fair enough. Here's to hoping your new unit will last you at least 3 years. 🤞🍻

    Sorry to hear you are having warranty issues. I ordered the Active 2.0 and a 50’ uberflex hose. I believe many others tried this combination and experienced serious issues before Active issued guidance about using braded hoses. Luckily, I saw Keav’s review of the Active 2.3 and his comment about the uberflex hose causing the Active 2.0 to surge before I used my unit for the first time. Apparently, non-braded hoses cause the unit to surge. I never opened my uberflex hose and I will use the 25’ OEM hose until a new 50’ steel braded hose arrives.

      I’m so happy for you that you discovered Keav’s review before you used the system. It’s a good unit but (like with most things) you need to use it properly to get the most out of it. Unfortunately I didn’t discover this until too late. Thanks for watching!

    Better option would be get a better hose like mtm and get a hose reel that would solve the heaviness and would be less cumbersome. Congrats on your first baby

    • @thedrivewaydetailer
      @thedrivewaydetailer  28 днів тому

      I researched the MTM hose. I was able to find a good one on Amazon that was steel braided so I bought that one. One day I’d like to have a pressure washer set up in my garage with a hose reel and all of the connections, but for now I’ll roll it up by hand.

    I think all the people running the non steel braided hoses better switch it for a proper hose. I ran my karcher k1700 with a 75ft kobra jet so when i upgraded to the 2.0 i was already good.

    • @thedrivewaydetailer
      @thedrivewaydetailer  Місяць тому

      I’m already looking at an obsessed garage hose to replace my non steel braided hose. It’s good you already had the proper equipment. I’ll probably end up buying a new 2.0 if customer service doesn’t send another unit. Hopefully using the unit with the proper equipment will give it some longevity. Buying a new unit may be a waste of money, but I did a hose wash yesterday and it was the worst. I hated it. Anyway, thanks for commenting and watching!

    Yeah I bought an active and ran it with a flexzilla for a one wash and it was already acting like it didn't like it. I just went and ordered a kobrajet hose, its more cumbersome but it beats the pressure washer giving out early.

      I’m glad someone has had a similar experience. It’s a good unit. It sucks I didn’t learn how to use it properly until after I broke it. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

      @@thedrivewaydetailer Using a steel braided hose helps the Active 2.0 last a bit longer but the unit will eventually fail. It's not meant to last forever, no matter how you take care of it. There's no serviceable parts for it and you can't replace the oil for the motor. So it will wear out eventually. Active rates the 2.0 at around 200 hrs of use. But using the steel braided hose will help prolong the service hrs of the Active 2.0. While it sucks your active only lasted 10 months, it did work for 10 months. So using more flexible hoses still works -- it just shortens the lifespan of the unit.
      BTW, how many times do you believe you used the Active 2.0 during that 10 month period? Do you, on average, wash 1/week? that would be about 40 times in a 10 month period.. about 40 hrs? that's not even 1/4 of 200 hrs. So yeah, that sucks. Active should definitely honor their warranty on your broken unit.

    • @thedrivewaydetailer
      @thedrivewaydetailer  12 днів тому

      I don’t expect it last forever, but my Karcher lasted 3 years or so so I’d like it to last at least that long. I usually use it about once a week. Sometimes twice if I have time.

    I hope someone can help U figure out where the serial number is located. I never heard of anyone having trouble with a pressure washer because of the brand hose they used. I think
    the unit just went bad. They should have had you ship the unit to them and replaced it. If that's the way their customer service is going to be I won't be buying a unit from Active.

      The jury’s still out on customer service for me. I’ve only sent one email and had one very short phone call. I’m going to call them and try to get things figured out on Monday so I’ll see what the customer service experience is like. The serial number thing does bother me though. Thanks for watching!

      I’ve checked a few different times. The only thing I haven’t tried is unbolting the unit to see if it’s somewhere inside the unit. Thanks for watching!

    Thinking you gamed the system by buying a cheap Amazon hose is the message. There are no magic beans, fairy dust or unicorns. I hate that you bought an Active thinking it was an upgrade over a cube. Most have had similar experience with Active. They seem more focused on marketing than product build quality. The mid-lower tier machine still isn't out there. Unless unicorn chasing is the thrill. That being said, I just ordered the EGO unit because I do a bunch of different type vehicles at the owners' locations and I don't drag my Kranzle around for foaming. So I may get bit as well.

      I recently watched a couple of UA-cam videos of people having problems with their ARBlue units also. You’re probably right. The only real long term solution is buying one of premium brands. If my life circumstances were different I’d probably pull the trigger on a Kranzle and be done with it. Hopefully your ego does well for you. Thanks for watching!

    Part of the problem with Active 2.0, is they give you a worthless 15 foot steel braided hose. Sure hope my UberFlex for occasional use doesn’t kill my Active 2.0. My Active 2.0 had the serial # on the unit.

    • @thedrivewaydetailer

      I’m sure the UberFlex would be fine for occasional use. If you’re going to be using it regularly I would buy a steel braided hose. My new Active 2.0 had the serial number on the unit. It was very helpful.

      I use the Uber flex and the same problem happened with me, I just got the pressure washer 5 months ago, the engine don’t turn off, before it was going noise only when pressing the trigger, now happens the whole time

    • @thedrivewaydetailer
      @thedrivewaydetailer  13 днів тому

      I’m sorry to hear that. If you kept your receipt, and you have the serial number you should be calling Active and make a warranty claim. You’ll have to talk to a customer service person and there will be some troubleshooting you’ll have to do, but my experience has been they stand by their product. I couldn’t get a new unit because I didn’t have the serial number for my original unit. If you get a new unit you should look into buying a steel braided hose.
      Thanks for watching!
