  • This is me building another log arch for a Western-style harness. It has some little things set up the way I like it, but every situation is different. Maybe you can get some good ideas for your build from this. Be safe out there.
This log arch is being built for a team of logging horses. It can be used by a team of two or four. It is designed to lift the log to make the pulls easier on the horses. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer.

Ive built a few logging carts and everytime I change something because I didn’t quite like how I did it last time or think or see something that I liked more. I wish I’d seen this video before my last build, you’ve got some great ideas I wish I’d tried.
    Super interesting and helpful.

    John,
When you hook 4 head 2 and 2 how do you connect the lead team to that second grab hook?

      Good question

The chain hooks to the second hook and runs through the loop in the neck yolk. The driver of the front team does have to be careful when he steers left and right to keep everything in alignment.

what you need to do differently for a d ring harness?

You would have to raise the point where your doubletree pulls from an inch or inch and a half. This particular arch is balanced pretty good where the tongue weight is light. D ring harnesses tend to work a little better with a heavier tongue but this arch would work fine if you just raised the hook on it.

Do you sell them. What's the price to have one made for me?

I dont build them professionally. Everything costs so much these days it would probably be around 4K for me to do it. If you look around you can probably find someone to build you one for less than that.
