This is presumably going to work with your phone as well. You may be able, depending on your garage door opener model, to set a "close timer" that'll automatically close your door after it's opened. The technology is getting crazy! BTW, in my opinion, to be able to get to the next level of automation, it will require better safety features to avoid closing the door on open tailgates, trailer hitches, etc. Currently, garage door openers only have photo eyes placed approximately 6" above the ground and a "force function" that'll reverse the door after it hits something. Which is less than ideal. However, it is possible to integrate systems that would cover a more significant portion of the opening for greater safety. Once that becomes more mainstream, it'll be much easier for companies to automate systems without concern for liability.
I agree! Some cars have this - which is nice. The Model X for example with the Falcon Wing doors has ultrasonic sensors so they don't collide with anything when opening.
The creator did a fine job, but the video feels like a myQ infomercial. Personally, $46 a year for a virtual garage door button is seems pricey. I had a horrible experience with myQ. I installed a myQ conversion kit and had nothing but issues. I ended up removing it. Frankly I found it more than a little unnerving to expose my opener via the internet. For an attached garage, you create an electronic backdoor to your home. I do think the door monitor is useful, but it would require a physical off switch on the transmitter portion for me to be comfortable with it.
Also beware for two car families. When set to auto close and you back out but your other family member backs out after you, the door can/will start to close on them. I shut that feature off.
We have 2 garage doors. I set up the first Tesla, and it shows both cars on the MyQ screen. When I go to the 2nd car nothing shows there…it wants me to do the set up again. If I do that it’s seems that I will have 2 separate accounts. How do I set up the 2nd Tesla?
I've got it working without a problem, BUT, it doesn't look like it can control my community gate which works with the Chamberlain Community App that is integrated with personal MyQ for my home garage. I just traded in my 2019 Model 3 for a 2023 and sorely miss my Homelink module that I left behind.
Once you arrive home and park in the garage how are you closing the garage ? I tried multiple times to tap the garage door to close and it doesn’t work? Thanks
There's absolutely 0 reason this should be a paid subscription based app. MyQ has a monopoly due to its software being baked into garage door openers but does not require any extra work on myQ side. Str8 hustle smmfh
Nice video but none of this is novel. Tesla has been doing this for a decade with its existing software and using the home link feature. And doing so with liftmaster/chamberlain and every other garage door opener. MyQ (liftmaster and chamberlain) has been doing this for a decade via their app. All of this is free (no monthly fees) if you have the hardware that supports it. All that is novel is that the chamberlain software is now in the Tesla environment. For that chamberlain wants an ongoing revenue stream. They are also the least integrated with home automation like Alexa. They are clearly holding back integration so they can monetize it and are holding access to our devices ransom for a fee. Don’t fall for that type of greed. They hold back integration and then rationalize their slow innovation as the market doesn’t support it when it just doesn’t support their greed.
Can you link them without premium services ?

So you HAVE TO pay for a subscription?

I guess he didn't know.. Still😊
Meh...not paying to open my garage door lol this dude works for myQ

It’s a joke it’s a pay feature. That said I paid. For a pay feature I’m not happy that it fails to open or shut fairly often.

Agreed
How did you get to the screen shown at the 1:50 minute mark?
