It is a learnt process. She painted it normally at forst then flipped it and learnt where to put the paint by the millimeter. Doesn't mean it's not impressive but speed painting lile that is about learning a pattern and a brush order (so that the paint is dry when she goes over to add the mole for ex) and doing it ALWAYS the same way. Lots of work but not impressive in the way most peple think.
Read the book about drawing with the right side of your brain (I don't remember the exact title). Obviously I'm not denying it's an amazing art piece and impressive performance, but I suspect that painting it upside down made the process easier, instead of more challenging.
@@BkBk-gy6vr LOL she does make it look easy, but it's really not! I'd like to see you try it, especially in such a short amount of time. Just because she spent a lot of time practicing, doesn't make it any less impressive! Practice makes perfect.
I kept waiting for that magic moment while she was painting when it would go from random paint to coherent image only to realize I completely fell for her trolling! Very cool work
You do realize she learned the strokes, right? Like,.which stroke goes where etc. Its like solving a rubics cube. You can learn the right moves and solve it in seconds.
This is dealing with positive and negative shapes as well as a beginners technique of drawing portraits upside down as taught by a university professor who wrote the book Drawing on the Right side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. This girl either taught herself or her art teacher taught her or referred the book to her. Many beginning drawing teachers and professors use this book as a reference to teach drawing to their students.
WOW!!!!! So much talent and this is in our high schools! I know this was 7 years ago, but think how far she has grown as an artist and as a person in life?! I wish today’s media would focus on the good and the light that surrounds us and not just on the dark in our society. Our kids and our culture are in desperate need of light and love to heal the hate and the hurting that is dividing us. I choose to believe that we have more good and more light that shines through than the evil that is consistent in the news and media outlets. I send my love to all those that are hurt and pray for everyone! I am an American that believes in “United we Stand; Divided we Fall.”
Awesome work! It brought me back to college when I saw a speed painter named Denny Dent, and his Two-Fisted Art Attack put on a show on campus. Some of his work still hangs in those halls.
Just ran across your video. So cool! I had a feeling you'd flip it over but I didn't have a clue as to what it would be. This was a great way to show off the visual arts.
I know what it’s like to see into a dimension that not many people can get to. I do it through music but she definitely taps into the same dimension on visual media. It’s always amazing to see another savant. 🤘
I did the same thing in high school in 2003 but in a larger scale. Its from an artist named denny dent. Suprisingly easy with some planning and practice.
Welcome to modern America where if you click a like about a highschooler doing art you are looked at as a creeper in the community and asked- why you watching a video about some kid. Its no longer about whats good but whats safe. Sorry great but no thumbs up.
@mikemuppet3807 you really have no idea how the world works. But it seems like that may be for the best. They ARE watching you, continue to resist those urges!
I did just as no doubt loads of others did whereby kept trying to find the picture - but nothing 😮 Then suddenly I saw something I recognised and then, ‘oh my God, it’s…’. Amazing ❤❤❤
My ex wife did this exact trick back in 2005, when she was still in high school. But even that was based on whoever did it first. Nice to see it still works on people.
It looks like you sketched the lines you needed to paint ahead of time, as it appears you are searching for your lines when you get close to the canvas. Clever idea, which helped your speed tremendously I’m sure. Still a pretty neat trick though.
Indeed.... especially with a silhouette style 2 color painting. Had she stood back further it would have looked more like she actually painted that. :) Good Eyes !!!
even though this was a long time ago it is still impressive. I hope you moved on using your God given talent to much success cause you deserve it! we are fellow Oregonians.
It took me SO LONG to realize what image she was going for, and when I did, I almost did a double take. Almost, cause I had headphones and didn't want to send them flying. She's really good
The way the crowd behind the canvas was just sitting there clueless until she ran back and picked it up to spin it around. They missed the whole dang show 😂💀
The ability to do this so quickly AND upside down is absolutely astonishing.

@@camilledabert it's probably easier in some ways to memorize upside down since it's just abstract shapes for a long time

@@jajajaja2606 Agree, I often paint upside down, as you get a better 'likeness' rather than memory of what it 'should' be.
What is the real interest in this ? Next step, blindfolded ?
I was thinking, “what the heck is that? She won?” Until it was clear what she did! Such a talent!
Yeah painting a picture that you’ve painted 100 times in all white is impressive…NOT
@@BkBk-gy6vr you do it then

@ I paint, so yes it’s easy very easy
Painted it a thousand times in her garage before i bet lmao
Dude I was lost until the flip. Nice
Yea, I admit I was thinking, man, I can just paint it white too, then she flipped, and I feel stupid, haha
@@Travis-BarthMe too...
I agree.
Same😅
I thought I was just really high

This was 11 years ago. I would love to see her current work. Unbelievable how some artists brains see different perspectives. Truly amazing!

@@Oozaru85 Yes, people with no talent who've never tried or succeeded at anything will say things like this. Loser.

People need to get behind this talented girl to make sure she rises to her full potential.
11 years ago lol
That's her responsibility 😂.
Unfortunately capitalism let’s a lot of artistic talent be abused in the name of speed
It’s more of a party trick honestly. But still cool. Also you’re 13 years too late.
I love the cheers as she paints. Something I never thought I would see. It’s like her paint strokes are 3 point shots or a dunk 😂😂
I would be willing to bet there were some people in the crowd who had seen her work before and were waiting for the punchline to drop
Especially since at that point she hadn't revealed what it even was. At that stage what are they even cheering?
@@Sids1192 they were probably her supportive friends cheering??? It's a high school talent show!
They must have known what she was doin maybe seen her do it before
Artists have a true gift. I would to be able to see the world through her eyes
None of us are gifted we all start at Zero when we start is Just different Look at pewdiepie for example and where He got in a year
Facts, talent doesn’t beat practice
everything would be upside down
It's a blessing, and a curse
I see the algorithm has united us to compliment and be amazed at this OUTSTANDING talent!!
Wow! That was amazing. My jaw dropped when she flipped it. Awesome!

Wow. What a flip. Deserved winner.
Oh my god.. three minutes, with no sketch AND upside down. This is insane, what an accomplishment!
Until the perspective change I was like “this won?” That literally taught me a lesson

that flip was an iconic move, let alone the actual painting itself
All I can say is wow. 😮 I wasn’t waiting for the flip ❤
That flip is so sick
If u train it at home how many times u wish, its no surprise to paint it in such a short time
