Here is a little trick for you. When you were pouring the oil, you had the spout at the 6 oclock position. Next time when the bucket is full, put the spout at the 12 oclock position and this allows the bucket to get air and it doesnt go gluck gluck gluck. It just flows real steady. Of course when the bucket gets low you will have to turn it around the way you had it in this video.
That’s next time I do it I’ll try it thanks for stopping by hope you stick sroun
@@embracetheoutdoors7232 I just bought a ford 2000 tractor.ONe of the older ones that real similar to a 601 tractor. I need to change the fluids in it.
@@TheJohndeere466 if you do a video on it let me know I subscribe to your channel and I wanna get a mini excavator or skid steer eventually
You need to drain all three compartments on the 8n to get the water out it actually has three devivded compartments inside likely to prevent a hydraulic leak from draining the transmission and rear differential of their oil I have to change mine soon also as my rear lift is not working under heavy load ether. So next time make sure you drain all three if you want to replace it all. 😉 still it was fun to watch hope all goes well recomend changing it in the fall as this will protect the pump from water freezing on busting it in the winter according g to what I've read.
Have you ever had a starter break apart?
Yessir,,, suspected ame here... gonna change tomorow.. thanks.. new sub.. cheers!
Yeah definitely help the tranny and holding the lift for sure needs it once a year for sure to get it all out you need to take all 3 plugs out but it works good taking one out and appreciate it and the support means alot
Nice tractor I got a 48 8n as well and also southern my self
Thank I think my just recently locked up
@@embracetheoutdoors7232 that's terrible sounds like rebuild time.check out the video I put up of mine after rebuild
Do You have lifting problems by this Milkshake? I don't know much about this model of tractor but its not different construction of our polish tractor "c"-model serries especially my favourite Ursus c330/c335 so I think that maybe the change oil will be good for mine olso. Its good that such young people like You cary of that old tractors! ;) Greatings from Poland :) Good job!
It was keeping it from holding when the motor was off it definitely helps a lot I recommend a flush on them once a year for sure to get a good oil in them every year of work
I'd pull the other two plugs also.
I think the motor went on it
Need to drain all 3 theres fluid in rear that wont drain out of front drain
Seems I have to change mine about once a year. Lots of condensation gets in and contaminates the oil.
Do the brakes work on yours? Common issue for axle seals to go then take out your brakes. Tore mine apart and replaced axle seals, brakes and wheel bearings last winter.
Yeah it looks like milk and I just changed it and yes my brakes work pretty darn good still one side of the axle is leaking but don’t affect the brakes
It's hard to find sometimes but I use the original mineral oil gear lube Henry Ferguson designed it to run on
Where could I look to find it
@@embracetheoutdoors7232 I get mine from a small local Implement dealership but Ford or Massey Ferguson dealership should have it or know where to get it
@@embracetheoutdoors7232tractor supply supposedly has it
Does the drain you used and fill you used also drain and fill the differential? Or is that another drain and fill access?
On the 8N tractors there is 3 drain plugs the best method is to drain all 3 but what I read after a year turns to milk shake again so I just drained what I could and filled it up yess it drains transmission and diff
I will try the 80 90 gear oil ,that sound better than tran. fluid
Quits them down a lot less grinding to
I reckon the hydraulics and the gear box uses the same oil?
Yes actually it’s hydro and gear for the rear end and the transmission all use the same fluid that’s why it’s important to change it every year.
That is the problem I was having...now I can fix it! Can I use hydraulic fluid instead??
Use what ever is thicker the better my tractor end up locking up so I’ll have a video trying to figure that out one say
Looks like trains fluid fill
2 more drain holes were missed leaving more milkshake behind!
