Jay & Amber, her "White Flag" was another huge yet. Beautiful voice indeed!
You read my mind
Was going to say the same! : )
That whole album is a masterpiece
I love that song. It is one I can listen to over and over. White Flag is her #1 as far as I'm concerned
Fact's
She's the woman who sings on 'Stan' with Eminem. Beautiful voice.
He totally ripped off this song
@@nickbarber3315 He didn’t rip off this song, he gave Dido a writing credit on Stan and, in the process, gave her massive publicity of this song.
@@nickbarber3315 He worked with Dido on the song, she sings the chorus for God's sake. That's not ripping it off...
@@enhancedakuma1 the chorus was already written, sampling is essentially ripping off.
@@HockeyJohn21 seriously? She got massive publicity from mtv playing her video non stop, mm just capitalized on her talent
“Here With Me” is my favorite Dido song. Crystal clear and perfect pitch. Lovely song.
This song, her first big hit, is my favorite.
"Here with Me" is a great Dido song. It was used as the theme song for the 90s TV show, "Roswell."
Y'all might want to check out "Heart and Shoulder" and "London Rain" by Heather Nova.
Ha! This totally made me also think of suggesting Heather Nova with "London Rain"🤛
Here with Me is an awesome song. Loved Roswell too.
Heather Nova is a fantastic recommendation. I'd go with "Truth and Bone" or "Maybe an Angel", or of course "Walk this World" as the hit. Great songs, great voice!
I LOVE those songs. I heard them on Dawson's Creek. And before streaming I had to buy the CD.
Yesssssss!!!
Oh, man, you have to do 'White Flag.' It is her masterpiece. Brilliant, heart-felt, revealing.
Word 👏👏👏
Well, all her albums are fire, but I have a special soft spot for her first "No Angel": Hunter, Here With Me, Thank You, I'm no Angel, Don't Think of Me, etc... all tracks on it are gold.
So glad you got to Dido. I haven't heard many of her songs, but "White Flag" is absolutely gorgeous. Dido (real name: Florian Cloud de Bonevialle O'Malley Armstrong ... what a mouthful!) is a UK-born songwriter who hit it big in the early 2000s with songs like this, "Here With Me", "Hunter", "White Flag", and "Life For Rent". She also did a duet with Santana in 2003 called "Feels Like Fire." I really hope you go down this rabbit hole. Fun fact - she turned 50 last year, on Christmas Day!
Small correction... her Real Name actually starts with Dido - Dido Florian Cloud De Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong.
I guess you got that from the english Wiki Page
Here an Interview where she says her Name:
ua-cam.com/video/lgELTJRyCHw/v-deo.html
@@uweschmitz Dido was a nickname, not on her birth certificate. She might have legally added it, but it wasn't her given name from birth
Her brother is also Rollo. Part of Faithless.
@@DJKC Didnt she also sing on a Fatithless track too?
@@chrisbayliss3532 Yes, One Step Too Far.
I’m a grown ass man, and yet this song always brings a tear to my eyes.
She is such a gorgeously timeless vocalist. Please also listen to White Flag - pure voice and beautiful lyrics.
One of the things I love about Dido is how mundane and relatable her subject matter is, talking about missing the bus to work and having a hangover. It's also a really sweet image to have her come in from the wet to have her boyfriend be there with just what she needs. Another of her songs, Sand in my Shoes is about getting home from a vacation and she talks about leaving it "one more night to unpack" because she doesn't want to accept the holiday is over yet. I know I have done the same. Just really easy listening stuff. I actually saw her in concert once and she's pretty good live too.
Dido who is she? Love her singing voice! She is named after “Dido the black slave living in a white world the movie is “Belle!” Amber put it on your movie list! You will enjoy it!
Dido did the theme song for the TV Series Roswell. "Here With Me"
That pilot episode had so many incredible songs in it! Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band was another song in the pilot episode of Roswell they should here, along with Sarah MacLachlan's Fear and Hey Man Nice Shot by Filter. I was mesmerized by that pilot episode and I think I re-watched it every night until the next episode aired; couldn't get enough of it and the music! Here With Me just took my breath away every week. I wore my CD out listening to it. Lol. Guess it was the right tune at the right time in my life. :D
Here with Me ( Dido) is an incredible song .
I fell in love with Dido cause she has a slight 70’s smoky soulful sound to her voice, I love all her music , though she should be even more popular than she is , hope yall do more Dido! Edit- she’s one of many female singers from the UK that I love, Corrine Bailey Rae, Duffy, Andreya Triana, Leanne La Havas, Amy W of course, and Adele of course!
I love Corrine Bailey Rae! I learned about her when she appeared on an episode of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip". Great voice!
Dido released too few albums to really be hugely popular.
If this beat sounds familiar, it's because Eminem sampled it in his song "Stan". 😁
Dido is really great. Her songs are very atmospheric and beautiful. Suggested songs: Here With Me, I'm No Angel, White Flag. Although she doesn't sound the same, she has the same kind of mesmerizing quality as Sade. Both wonderful artists. Great reaction y'all!
Great song and so good and deep when she sings it on Eminem's "Stan"...Such a fun and beautiful sound she has. Thanx so much, Be well, Peace
Dido is a fascinating person, who attended some of the most prestigious private schools in London, and a leading music college. Her first two albums broke British first album sales records. Her brother's a member of the band Faithless, her mothers a poet, and her dad was a publisher, so the whole family is artistic. She writes lots of music for others, inc Rhianna. I love her somewhat eclectic music.
yes, you need to react to some Faithless tracks like "God is a DJ" "Mushrooms", "Insomnia", "Solo Flying Mystery Man", "Muhammad Ali" and "Mass Destruction"
@@Mistral1942 Faithless Ft Dido - One Step Too Far 👌
I haven't heard this song in years and I had forgotten how gorgeous her voice is. Wow.
This was THE wedding song for the longest time. EVERYONE was using this song for their first dance for about a decade!
One of the best and most underrated female singers in the last 25 years, imo. Fantastic song 👍😊
"White Flag" is very good as is "Life for Rent" I think you guys would really enjoy the Welsh singer "Duffy" her song "Rockferry" is a great place to start. Much love from Scotland. You guys are great! :) Happy to be apart of the fam
This song is great and inspires millions of people! One of the greatest monuments in the music industry. 💖💖💖💖
I used to sing this to my youngest when he was a baby...he's 22y now. ☺
She's not just the woman on Eminem's Stan. It's the song she sings on Stan. I was sure you were going recognize it!
She has such a sultry jazzy beautiful voice and with the beat of the congas makes you just want to close your eyes and remember the good times. Also her "White Flag" and "Here With Me" are just as beautiful.
❤ Her white Flag is a great song too
Ah Dido...loved her.Her "Here with me" always makes me cry.She has a unique voice xx
Dang this song is 24 yrs old already!...CRazy!.....This song was also featured in Eminems "STAN" song
Gotta do some Jewel and then imagine these two on the radio around the same time. We were so spoiled. ☺️
"Here with Me" is gorgeous and "White Flag." I remember hearing her for the first time in the movie Sliding Doors in the 90s.
Never been a fan, but she is talented and that's an understatement. Also she's family with 'Faithless' ... Cheer's 🇬🇧
This song was sampled as the track under Eminem's song "Stan" and was actually rapped and sung as a duet with Dido.
Eminem sampled this on his song 'Stan' and it was an immediate hit, in turn making this song a big hit as well which was great for Dido as this album was slow selling to begin with🥰😋❤🔥
This song was already a big hit long before Eminem sampled it.
@@jessieball6195 The song came out a little more than a year before 'Stan' was released and she had hardly sold 200,000 copies but after Eminem released his song with her sample on it she turned around and sold 4 million copies in the US and 3 million in the UK .
@@jessieball6195🤣
Here with Me is a great song by Dido.
Dido has a gorgeous voice.. that's the only way to describe it
Love love Dido! Thanks you two!
Her live concert at the Brixton Academy was superb , great songs here with me, White Flag, life for rent.
The beginning of the video with the officers pounding on the door of her house is based in reality... She said she wrote the song during a time of depression when she had her house repossessed. Eminem used a sample of this song for his song "Stan". Dido played the pregnant girlfriend in the video. He also used her song "White Flag" to make a mashup with his song "When I'm Gone".
Here with me is my fave Dido song.
Great song. Her song white flag is even better!
You guys should react to more Dido…
"Here with Me", "Hunter", "Don't Think of Me", "All You Want", "White Flag", "Life for Rent", "Don't Leave Home", "Sand in My Shoes"
Dido's got a brilliant voice and I can see why Eminem wanted to work with her.
Agree
Also add Dido's "Christmas Day" to the holiday playlist. It's lovely.
My favourite song of Dido is Here with me. And she is my all-time favourite singer. ❤
Check out Elton John’s “Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding.” It’s epic. You’ll love it.
Love Dido, have all of her CDs. Always on the playlist. Amber you would love all of her songs. She is an amazing artist and a great story teller.
Can no longer hear this song without my brain saying "Dear Slim......"
Dido is Rollo Armstrong's sister. He is a leading bandmember of Faithless. A dance orientated band from England. They had huge success in Europe in the mid ninetees with Insomnia. Dido featured often as a lead or backing vocalist on their albums. Listen to Hem Of His Garment, Postcards or One Step Too Far. But certainly the dramatic Last This Day, from To All New Arrivals.
Dido made a number of soloalbums as well. Very interesting stuff.
Like the Rob Squad reactions. This couple just seems like they enjoy each other in general. I'm sure there are ups and downs in the relationship but ton of positivity. Dido kind of gives me that feel. I used to drive a lot for work, I'd get done one place and have to drive deep into the night to get home where I just love to be with my lady and my boys. Dido would kind of carry me through empty nights just feeling her understated but beautiful vibe. Dido always just made things feel alright. Keep the reactions coming, like experiencing new stuff and seeing other people enjoy it as well.
So wish you had chosen "White Flag" (Brixton Academy Live version). Truely an amazing performance.
"Here with Me" by Dido was out wedding first dance. So beautiful.
The 90's were awesome. Huge granger blues rocker and hard rocker. That said the framework of my tastes in the early 70's had incredible soft ot folk rock. Females were fantastic lyricists and talent. Folks like one of the greatest songwriters, Carol King, Carly Simon, Cher, Jon Mitchell, even heart with great softer tunes like dreamboat Annie and dog and butterfly. The 90s in many ways to me was the 70's reborn. Alternative was another word for musical integrity a splice of writing transparency that transcended formulated trash so dominant in the 80s and after 2005 to current. Dido, Alanis Morrisette, Sarah Mclaughlin, Shawn Colvin, Dolores Oriordan, Anna Nalick. They followed into those lines of addictive storytelling and masterful composition. Much like Amy Lee, Lizzy Hale, Mariah Brink, and the modern standard beater of Female led Rock, my absolute favorite and celeb Crush... Taylor Momsen. She is genius her band is genius, she inspires me to workout to some heavy rock, that is until I get to the Gym and some 20 something beauty queen is kicking but and I am wheezing. That is when I call it a cheat day order a braums bananna split and cry in the container in a fit of self loathing and misery. Any way that was intended for my therapy session. All kidding aside Dido is a treasure so excited for your discovery of her. I missed Jewell also a 90s gal. Keep up the good work still try to react to Alvin lee the bluest blues.
I'm So Glad You Both Enjoyed My Suggestion. ❤
According to Wikipedia, Dido's birth name is Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong and Dido is this singer, and the song is so beautiful, and notice how in the video she had a little house in the middle of the city?
Dido is London Irish, She spent her childhood between London and her family in Ennis Ireland hence the song. Her Uncle was the famous Irish politician Dessie O Malley. Her middle name is O Malley.
Jethro Tull “My God” from their Isle of Wight concert. Best flute ever. Also Emerson Lake and Palmer “From the Beginning” Trilogy album. You will love it
Hunter is another great Dido song.
I remember her song “Here With Me” was the theme song to the television sho called Roswell, in the late 90s early 2000s. That was such a good show.😊
If they reacted to TV shows, what a wild ride the original Roswell would give them! Lol. Can't believe it's already been remade. Where does the time go? I can't even imagine them trying to react to TV shows though; too many amazing ones to see them all. X)
Dido is her stage name. I learned something.
Yay, Dido! “Here With Me” is one of my all time fav songs. 🥰
This woman's voice just sends me.
This is the sample you hear on Eminem's "Stan" ('Thank You', was released 2 yrs before 'Stan'). That's also Dido in the "Stan" music video playing the pregnant girlfriend.
just love this song.. still listening 2024...
British singer Dido's album "No Angel" was the top selling album in the world in 2000!
Dido has been really under appreciated as a songwriter IMHO. White flag is brilliant and such a strong message about persevering with relationships which seems so rare in these days of instant gratification or the highway. Dido and Judy Tsuke (check out ‘stay with me till dawn’)have similar styles and are both brilliant songwriters. Would love hear more of both of them on the channel. Oh and don’t forget Florence and the machine and London Grammar, neither of whom have appeared on RSR yet despite my pleading.
Already mentioned but she collaborated with Emenem with this song on "Stan" she got a lot of exposure due to that.
Omg, I use be obsessed with her song “Here with Me”. It was the theme song for the short lived T.V. show Roswell. 🥰
oh yay I love Dido! some many people will probably recommend "White Flag", which is on of my favorites, but I like "Life for Rent" More of their music is worth a listen for sure!
Dido is a delight. She does an amazing live version of this
You MUST LISTEN to Patty Smyth--”Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough "!!!!! You will Love and Adore Her Voice. It's a Duet with Don Henley. She is My Favorite Female Vocalist without a doubt!!!!
Another beautiful song tonight!
Gotta do Dido - My lovers gone... the best song!
I envision a warm midnight drive across the star filled desert.... this song on the radio... Thanks
I love this song. Had forgotten about it!! Thank you so much!!
White Flag is one of the most painfully beautiful songs ever...you simply must hear Dido sing it.
Dido, Sarah Mclaughlin, Amy Lee are sirens. I mostly remember the theme song to the TV show Roswell... Here with Me. Does the video remind anyone of the movie UP?
Love her mellow even tones . Please do Cinderella - Shelter Me.
excellent choice guys....probably her very best song!
This song was everywhere in 1998-99. And then again when Eminem sampled it for "Stan". "White Flag" and "Here With Me" were huge too.
Love this song - 2 of my other favorites from Dido are White Flag and Life For Rent.
Love, luv, luv luv me some ‘90s Dido! Mood music just puts you in a trance. Good stuff!❤
Flash Forward 21 years later and Listen to "GIVE YOU UP" Stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her brother was in the group 'Faithless' and she did some vocals for them also. Highly, HIGHLY recommend checking them out if you want some throwback chill electronica (Insomnia was their biggest hit, but if you want something with Dido on it, check out One Step Too Far, which is one of my all time favorite songs regardless of genre, honestly).
They are absolutely brilliant live.
This song is used in film sliding doors starring Gwyneth paltrow and John Hannah from four weddings and a funeral.anither film you should do. it shows two timelines of the same character.what happens if she catches the tube and what happens if she missed it.
Another song from the movie is by aqua-turn back time.they're danish.jay would get to ring his bell and it's a good film to watch on your movie channel.i've got it on dvd and have seen it many times.
I will never forget I was listening to this CD driving to work the morning of 9/11. I remember because it was on when I started my car to go home and this song was playing, which I thought was ironic given the lyrics. I love this song, but can’t listen to it often because it still reminds me of the day.
Her song “White Flag” from the album after this is probably my favorite of hers. Edit: A couple other songs that were popular around the same time were “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer, “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia (im-BRU-lee-ah 😊), and “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down. These were the sounds of my early 20s.
So happy that you found Dido. I'd highly recommend Beth Orton as well. The 90's and early 2000's had so many great voices - Liz Phair, PJ Harvey, Tanya Donnelly from Belly and Throwing Muses (and her solo stuff). Carol from Bettie Serveert. The Cardigans. Tori Amos. I'm forgetting so many.
Love Dido...
I first heard her in Eminem's song Stan. It starts with her singing this song then he comes in. She is actually in the video
i am surprised jay didnt recognize the intro to 'stan' by eminem? i expected him to say 'hey, i have heard this before!' didnt quite happen as i expected...lol. need to get back to sarah Mclaughlin...when i hear dido i am reminded of her. you wanna try a different voice, portisheads lead singer beth gibbons has an amazing voice and the band works so well her voice. 'roads', 'glory box', 'all mine', 'only you'. make somebody smile!!
Nostalgia alert! Love this song and her voice!
As others have said, I'll put in my +1 for White Flag, another great song by Dido (yes she's the singer)
Also, this is the song that Eminem sampled for his song "Stan", and Dido is in the music video.
Cheers
I have the dvd of her concert, I love Dido
Several others have said it and I totally agree, "WHITE FLAG" is one of her absolute best!
She's pretty cool.
Her song “Here With Me” takes my breath away. It’s beautiful. It’s also in the movie Love Actually which I recommend you watch. I don’t like rom coms but that one is so good.
I was waiting to see if Jordan recognized that this song was sampled by Eminem in “Stan”. My favorite of hers is “White Flag”, you should check it out.
Never heard of Dido until I heard Stan. Have a couple of her albums from that one song Stan now.
Love her! Some other new female recommendations I have are KT Tunstall, Flyleaf, Fiona Apple, Garbage, Kimbra, Marian Hill, Paramore, Yeah Yeah Yeahs….just to name a few 😅 love you guys
Wow, yall made me stop in my track's for this one. Appreciate.
Beautiful voice, beautiful lady 😍🥰🇺🇸🇬🇧
Dido's lyrics are so intelligent and empathetic. I would die happy with a woman like her.
That's because she's smoking hot
'Here With Me'and 'White Flag' are her best tracks.
Dido! Yes! She’s also a prolific song writer. White Flag and Don’t Leave Home Live at Brixton Academy are great performances you should react to. She has a huge catalog of live performances on UA-cam as well. She’s one of my favorite artists. ❤
*LOL* You were closing your eyes and vibing while the video shows her house being destroyed... I had to laugh!
