We could drive the Suzuki LJ80 around Europe on holidays. The Yep with that small battery, is unusable as a replacement, even for that small LJ80. When they bring an EV like this Baojun Yep to the EU market, with 50kWh LFP battery, minimum range of 200mls + decent fast charging, below €25.000 its a sales hit. That 28kWh battery will never ever get 300km range. Maybe around 180km is more realistic. The weight, around 1000kg is low, so that will help the range a bit. To get 300km range an EV will realistically need a minimum of 40kWh battery.

Saying the car would be good for a family, is ludicrous! It's an SUV! Using an SUV, unless you frequently go off roading, is preposterous. If you want a small compact car, get a small compact non-SUV. That way, it'll be roomier, smaller (or _a lot_ roomier), lighter, more efficient, safer... (especially for everyone else)
How about providing some of the most important specs, and less of your "feelings" about this EV? What kind of batteries and the size of the battery pack? What is the charging speed? Since it is a Wuling, what is the maximum speed of the EV, as the Mini can only do 50km/hr. I assume it does not have the ability for OTA updates. Does it have traction control or lane assist? And what are the safety ratings. Too many questions went unanswered.
There is no such thing, as a small SUV, and there is practically no one, who actually genuinely has any practical use for one. Wow...can we say sponsored?! As an avid off-roader this piqued my interest until Elliot said "rear wheel drive" and "its shredding this road" that is a slightly bumpy hard packed road that a scooter could get across. Bring it to Australia! Looks good
It needs to be 4×4!!
Dear China, I will say this and I will not be repeating myself. DO WANT!
👍👍 Oooh I like that car.
We had the original Suzuki LJ80, and its big brother the Toyota Landcruiser BJ42.
Sadly it has a very small battery that has little real world use.
"All talk and no torque" surely!?
I can't deny, as soon as I saw this thing on the screen I put on my best Spotto voice and said "HOLY F**K, IT'S AN ELECTRIFIED JIMNYYYYYYY" 😅
Never a week passes without the review of a cheap chinese vehicle. I just don't see the point. None of these ever get to the UK or European markets and in the even that the odd one does get here instead of £ 10 they are 30k
We keep seeing battery EVs trailed on the channel to keep the myth of said battery EVs alive.
Battery cars are merely a step on the way and will soon be obsolete.
Used prices are "questionable". We see all sorts of nonsense about testing of batteries in second hand cars to prove said used batteries are going to last for all eternity.
Do we see a written guarantee that the batteries will last?
Think about that for a while.
They're simply showing what's out there, on this interweb thing that goes all over the world, so you can enjoy watching. Not every video needs to cater to your every desire.
A four-door version of this car made for the US market with 200 Miles of real-world range and a $19k price point would be fantastic.
finally something interesting again!
These reviews of new, reasonably priced EV's coming to market are great. EXCEPT.... The very few that make it to the UK are always triple the price quoted!
A four-door version of this car made for the US market with 200 Miles of real-world range and a $19k price point would be fantastic.
Chevy Bolt EV is a little bigger and has twice the battery and a lot more electronics, but its a 4-door with 250 miles range for $19k after rebate.
@@natehill8069 AND GM will give you $1400 is you dont't ask for a replacement battery. Then you have teh slopy slow charging and all the other hooey with it being Cancelled, then back on but not sure what hooey...
@@stephsoltesz6731 OP asked about a new car version of this vehicle, _new_ Bolts all have had good batteries for a year and a half now, and they certainly charge faster than this thing.
But GM WILL give you a free charger plug installation regardless.
If they cancel it again and it sticks? (admittedly this on-off-on-off-on thing is weird - but it doesnt affect the customer once hes ordered a car) So what? Its electric, it isnt going to need much support, and you already get better parts and service availability from Chevrolet than Tesla - Baojen isnt even in sight at the finish line.
Looks like a modern ev Suzuki jimmy ripoff. 😀
What's the update on your sc-01 order man? And when will y'all cover the gac aion hyper ssr?
I can answer a few for him the SC01 is now entering a mass production stage and hyper ssr is now starting a pre sales so soon

Take the m3 chassis with the latest dual castings and structural pack's, ad 1 or 2 c.f. wound plaid motors.
Real brakes, a serious wheel&tire package. Wrap it in a body like the next gen roadster but simpler&lighter with maybe 300 miles of range. V4 scer 10-80% charge in 10mins, ask $55-70k for it. Prob sell 100-150k in the us alone each year easy, 250-400k globally or maybe more.
You could even make a top spec version with say carbon ceramics, different bumpers, active aero and tri motors, charging 100-125k and people would buy it who have fk U money instead of a ms plaid. At least 25k a year in sales potential plus the brand cache it would generate. 👍🏻😎
You know the reason people but the G wagon is because it looks intimidating, luxurious and expensive. It's a status symbol. This car has none of that.
Did you say that this is a GM collaboration vehicle? Is it even close to road worthy on US roads? Bring samples to the United States for testing please.
I really like this content and am in 100% agreement about going eletric and the need to stop burning stuff, however.............I think we're at nearly 100% in terms of videos I've been watching with headlines saying this £**k car which HAVE NEVER HIT THE UK MARKET- Its been going on for years now - seems pointless to keep drowning us with stuff that isn't going to be sold here, and even it is - will never be at the pricepoints you're using as clickbait.
I want one here in Calif. 🙃
Pretty much no one, has frequent need to go on very bumpy off road places. For about 99% of people, it is extremely oversized, overweight, impractical, and has significantly less cargo space than a station/estate car. May be great for a rare few people, but...
Its monocoque and FWD only so not even a SUV. But even then there are several "SUV"s in India and SEA that sell for as cheap or cheaper like the Suzuki S Presso, Renault Kwid etc.
Sorry, 28kWh and 30-40min charge times? Hyundai's first ioniq electric was charging twice as fast.... in 2017. To me that would be a no go.
Wow...can we say sponsored?! As an avid off-roader this piqued my interest until Elliot said "rear wheel drive" and "its shredding this road" that is a slightly bumpy hard packed road that a scooter could get across. He mentions a hill but clearly the "off road track" is in the middle of a flat field that a golf cart could navigate. What a sad review
Oh, come on! Budget G Wagon??? No!
The G Wagon is one of the most capable off roaders in the world. This is a cheap and nasty micro city car with SUV styling and no more off road ability than any normal road car.
That is not an off road course, it's a road that doesn't have tarmac on it.
i hope they make a longer range option. adding an extra 10kw would be nice. i think i would have preferred round headlights.
How are all these Chinese ev companies going to provide service? Building up a network of service stations is a huge job! Maybe the solution is to use existing car dealerships which are going to disappear anyway, when every car company will switch to online ordering!
3:15 For a 28 kWh battery 0 - 80% in 30 to 40 minutes "is quick to charge" on a "super fast charger". ??? You sure, Elliot? What am I missing here?
US Bronco Sport (AKA Baby Bronco)

Suzuki Jimny
= Baojun Yep
Parking sensors on a vehicle that small......Really......Ha ! And I couldn't find that for 10 grand here in the UK...
As a Northern Territory Jimny owner, if these had 4WD, a spare wheel, two seats and more batteries they would be interesting, and also how can they still go for appalling cd on an EV, even to the extent of fake roof racks?
make it a two-seater softtop, that can be driven with the rear hatch open (to enlarge the bed) and it would be a realy great farm/hunting/beach vehicle, change the bg screen for a small speedo and a smartphon,e link
More poorly built , badly named, inflated price when they come to the Uk. Legacy makers can learn from the underpinnings though.
Save the planet and make someone rich !!!!
Greed is stopping ev’s not us - all the protesting idiots from just stop oil should remember this ! It ain’t us ……
Still a toy no matter what price, why? Replacement parts, will they be there after the model or shut down the servers like Waldmeister china ev manufacturer?
Lottery with my money nope
honestly.... you pretend it's an offroad vehicle, and 7 minutes in, you reveal it is a RWD... um... just forget it...
finally, a car design and price I can get behind. hopefully, the next models have better suspension and comfier seats.
Bruh wth is that logo... you don't have to be symmetric but really? Just breaking a symmetric shape with a dash?
perfect car for singles. good price. looks stylish. nothing to complain.
That is not going off-road.
That was just driving on a dirt road, which any vehicle should have no problem doing.
I don't understand. He spent the whole video talking about being "off road", while driving on a road. 😵💫
Piece of junk! SUV should be AWD! Left over electrics cleaning out outdated parts bins.
Almost Kei-car, 20 cm too wide. Maybe a version without the flared wheel arches can make it a Kei-car.
Nice review i would love to see one of these for sale in Canada, it would save me tons of money on fuel and would be even better if they offered a 4WD version, I'd be one of their first customers, the Suzuki Jimny would be great, they have priced themselves out of the market, my friend is an importer in Vancouver ,Canada and you talking almost 44,000.00 CDN by the time it lands at the port not including shipping it home
You think the bueacrat in transportation canada will let us off easy?. If there ever will be a canadian spec. They can totally fit another 60hp motor in the front. For this thing, a 120 HP combine power is going to be planty. If the range drop to 180. So be it, I will get myself kill for having way to much fun before the juice run out. Lol, just for the hack of go around in a snowy day while the snow is too thick for the sedan and mini van. Lol
0.9 Jacks 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love my Jimny. I would love this in 4x4 setup and a 200 mile range ! Then I am sold !!
Looks great and seems fun, but 67 horsepower?? Can it drive on the highway?
Presumably never going to be available in UK? Certainly not at anything like £10k?
If it's not 4wd it's not an off roader!
Off road + rwd only = oh crap, i'm stuck!
How do they make it so cheap ? Why aren't there other brands selling cheap cars in Europe ?
Perfect replacement for my smart fortwo. Want one, but don't expect them to sell to Europe.
Be perfect for islands like Menorca, hire companies would do well with them.
Surely the roof carries more than 30kg...
Oh come on, it's more like a budget version of a budget ripoff g wagon
This shows me that we badly NEED a great Suzuki Jimn-e 😉
Don't know looks very boring for a off road car. If you can even call it that.
This would be a great vehicle for running around the Goldie or Bondi with the surfboard in the roof. Great video Elliot. 👍🔋🇦🇺
WTF is "frunk"? It is clearly a froot - FRont bOOT!
I love it. Just get rid of the electrics and replace it with an ICE!
