Such a realistic portrayal of motherhood when there are multiple children. It's never been that you didn't want the children, it IS the fear of not having enough love for the next one. That fear goes away, but for one moment, just one moment your panic upsets your hormones, and responsibility load. Wanting out was portrayed beautifully by Sada. It spoke volumes in that one outburst. Life without your children would be empty and unbearable once they are here. They are your reason to exist and indeed put the pieces of you together and complete you. To be better, to improve your life and enjoy life with your children. The depth of Sada's portrayal is YES, that is the TRUTH! The absolute TRUTH! Perfect and I love this and Kate Lawrence by Sada Thompson ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What? If this was true we would still be having 20 children. The reason to exist or complete you? No, you do not exist to simply reproduce. Way more to women than just a uterus.
McNichol is such a good actress❤️
I miss the 70s.
Me too!
I remember watching this show every week. Best show on TV in the 70s.
This is one of my favourite Family episodes. Sada Thompson is especially good in it. I didn't start watching the series until Season 2 back in 1976, but eventually saw reruns of Season 1 in the late 80's, and it explained a lot of the family's past.
...I watched this during school breaks and Summer vacations during the mid to late 80's on WGN-Secaucus & WOR-Chicago once we FINALLY got cable. Also watched on the local FOX affiliate in my hometown of Charlotte, & on A&E or Lifeime each weekday or Saturday evening that I wasn't working or attending classes after High School during the early 90's. My Mom watched in primetime during its original run. This is my all time favorite show and I'm a tremendous fan of Sada Thompson! ...Stay Safe & Sound.
I did the same thing. I didn’t know there was a different Nancy or how Jeff started out as an ass
...Like most of you I've lots of time on my hands-Admin Leave/COVID-19, & enjoying these uploads. Although I have Seasons 1-2 on DVD, this is so much more convenient. As always, Thank You for the uploads! Stay Safe & Sound Everyone!👍🏽💯🤗
Unfortunately we are still waiting better times..
I loved family kristy mcNichol was definitely the star of the show
Kristy Mcnichol was good, to me Annie stole the show with her mature mind.
@@gretacentury7937Couldn't stand Annie.
Ruined the show. Imho.
Xanthus71, I salute you!
My warmest thank you for these uploads, better than any junk on cable .
Wow - Sada Thompson - forgot how good she was at acting. You felt like your were drawn into the story and the turbulent times many women have faced over the years. Definitely old fashioned but not too far off from what happens today.
We had the pleasure of enjoying Sada Thompson in the Old Globe company in San Diego
Very good tv series about family and dealing with life issues. So glad I ran into it on youtube. Thanks for bringing it to youtube. This is what I need to know that humanity is what is important and we need to care and not just shy away from it. Thank you
Superb writing and acting
Favourable episode Best Nancy
He didn't even have the respect to use a hotel room he cheated at their house.
I just wanted to say Thank you for all of these great episode of Family .. Watched all of them twice .. Very enjoyable .. Thanks again 💖💖💖💖💖
At 23:36 Kate says she's 46 years old and has borne 3 children -- obviously a writing error, as Kate had FOUR children - Nancy, Willie, Timmy (deceased) and Buddy. I shouldn't be surprised though - Nancy's pregnancy mysteriously disappeared after this episode also.
Thanks "Xanthas" for these uploads.. how lovely.. Marisa Italy
Thanks again for more uploads 👍
Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful series, which is my favorite, I have had your channel scheduled for a long time, and now I find myself with this pleasant surprise, I hope you do not block this sublime series, big hug from Argentina😇😇
I can not thank you enough for the 105 videos ! is there a chance to post the 2 episodes missing? ''echoes of love'' and ''from Russia with love'' ?!
I have Echoes of Love, but UA-cam has blocked it.
@@Xanthas71 Thank you for taking the time to provide these episodes. Stay safe.
@@Xanthas71 Thank you so much for these uploads!!!
Thank you for this show!!!!! This and The Waltons were my favs growing up in the 70s..
Why would UA-cam block those 2 episodes?
Thank you, again & bless you
@@Xanthas71why have they blocked these2 episodes?😊
This episode broke my heart. Buddy overhearing how her mom felt about having her and her siblings. I never saw any episodes where the mom showed so much anger inside her coming out.I am truly sad now after watching this/
I wonder why they replaced the original Nancy. This show was, is still so entertaining. My dad says I’m a sap and that there’s too much drama. Somehow it always turned out well. Like I said. Great entertainment . Kristy was always on top of her game. Gary, really grew into his character and aches of it. Meredith , ya just wanna conk on the head sometimes. Ah to be young and stupid.. Sara carried her character so well and had the snappiest quips. I probably just ever a few select episodes of this show coz I was never in one place long enough, and when I was, censorship was ooohweee. Thank you
Producers replaced the original Nancy with Meredith Baxter Birney due to feedback that she wasn't beautiful.
Thanks so much. I’ve been looking for these for some time now.
So they can hear cars when they come in the driveway. But nobody heard body drive out of the driveway!
This wonderful classic tv show is on the decades channel right now.
wow!!!!!!!fantastico.....prelude un gran successo, come poi è stato, di una serie tv memorabile ..qui in italy sono stai trasmessi primi anni 80..che belli!!!!grazie mille per questa opportunità di rivederli.
Also I remember a episode where Annie prepares for an earthquake!! Does anyone remember this one!! I have all of the episodes but that one isn’t on the DVD
Thanks for the movie
Great show;
That Jeff was crazy like a 🦊 fox
Here are some differences between the real house where the Pilot episode was filmed, and the set that was built to replicate it for all future episodes:
- in the real house the refrigerator was located on the opposite wall in the kitchen
- the real didn't have a telephone on the wall in the kitchen
- the real house did not have a closet in the upstairs guest bedroom (Nancy’s old room) to the right of the door.
- the real house had a screen door at the front entrance.
- the real house was quite worn; in the scene where Buddy is eavesdropping on her parents fighting in the kitchen, the walls and cupboard doors are very dirty.
I noticed a storm or screen door on some later episodes, but only in rare exterior shots, not during interior door perspective shots. The pilot shot in the Milan Ave. house had somewhat dingy paint (walls-kitchen cabinetry) & greatly magnified by on set lighting-however dim, otherwise average careworn for a house built during the 20's. I hadn't noticed the other differences, you're very observant.
I’m watching from the beginning!!!
Please put on all of the seasons
When they were fighting in the kitchen and buddy overheard, Kate said she bore 3 children, no she didn't she bore 4, they lost a son, I find it funny how shows forget what was said in earlier episodes.. But regardless I love this show..
Wow. So Meredith Baxter Birney wasn't Nancy in the pilot?
I can't remember when I started watching this but I never realized that.
I’ve been watching this series and the thing that jumps out at me is Kate walking around in those uncomfortable hard looking shoes and those tight dresses. She looks so uncomfortable.
I don't like how Doug treat Willie cause he doesn't treat Willie right, everything Buddy do he thinks it's Willie fault.
If she wasn't so nosey she wouldn't get to hear what her parents was arguing about.
Willie didn't tell Bubby to stole the car and ran off.
Buddy had to straighten him out on that, she let him know it wasn't Willie fault
They sure loved their alcoholic beverages 😮…
They should have kept the original Nancy and the original theme for the show.
WE always wanted a real FAMILY
I think they made a good choice when they change actress in the role of Nancy
I hate the way Kate defends Jeff for cheating! And then Jeff saying "don't punish me in my own bed" really?!! He punished her by having another woman in their bed!!
I think that woman at the desk in the beginning is the same actress that plays Doug's temp secretary in Annie Laurie episode.
I love buddy but i would have been black blue and purple after that stunt no matter what the reason😊
They spelled McNichol's name wrong. It's not Kristie. It's Kristy.
I noticed that too!
I thought it. Was wrong!!!
Continuity problem here, Kate says she bore 3 children. Obviously, she bore 4. So this means the drowned Timmy was an afterthought.
Why did Kate say she gave birth to 3 children?? There's 4. (During the fight in the kitchen)
Hi are all the episodes on here?
I believe for the most part, yes, there were 86 original episodes, spanning 5 seasons, with the 1st Spring season in 1976, only having 6 episodes,
"Overlooking" his cheating and breaking his marriage vows he made to her BEFORE GOD....he's gonna do it again because she just showed him that she'll PUT UP WITH IT!
I didn't season 1 as a child. I'm glad they recast Nancy with Meredith Baxter. This actress didn't fit with the cast. Other than that, this is a powerful episode.
9:30 1974 Ford Maverick!! the so called import fighter with the low base sticker price of 1995.00
Kristie McNichol's face always seemed crooked
It is! In a really cute way. Her crookedness was at its fully-formed apex by the time she was in "Little Darlings".
I def like meredith better as Nancy
Very enjoyable until Season 3 when it became just downright weird. I can see why the PBS crowd at the time would love this.
As these characters developed I found I really didn't like them very much except
Buddy who seemed at 14 to be the only one with any judgement and common sense. I bailed after Nancy once again completely castrated and physically abused the whimpering Jeff and the family again submitted to being treated like her Administrative Staff.
wow, what a super mother , telling her daughter that she should stick it out in a shite marriage simply because the mother stuck it out in her own . passing the torch to terrible marriage , right down the generations.. . how very 70s!
