So, the professor may work for the university but he also works for the students. I went back to school in my 40's and I wish I was there with Kate! I know, it's just a show! :)

Music Appreciation was one of the easiest classes to pass back in college. Kate was studying piano so this episode would make more sense if this were a 301 class
Doug's best lines: "You can't let him get away with it. You're playing right into his hands. Admit you're scared. It's alright, but it's not alright to be cowardly. That man just doesn't want someone of comparable life experience in his class -- especially when he's making friends with the pretty lady in the front row. He a misogynist who verbally assaults! Women with daddy issues love this type of man! This professor isn't a real man because he tells off women. Kate should have let Doug manhandle him!
Does anyone remember the name of the episode when the family was being menaced by one of Doug's unhappy clients? Doug ended up firing a shot at him in the livingroom. That's all I remember about the episode, and I haven't seen it since it first aired. As for Kate's professor... Didn't she ever hear of filing a complaint with the dean? Short of that, she might have thought about breaking one of his hands with a hammer, preferably after the rest of the class had filed out. OR, realistically, couldn't she just drop the class and take it with another professor if she felt the situation was intolerable? At 28:43 Doug says to Wllie: "Here, come here, Buddy." I wonder how that didn't end up on the cutting room floor?

A lot of men still have body hair. So what? Who wants to date a guy who looks like a 10 year old and with the chest of a pre pubescent kid? Some things in this world have just got more and more asinine. Having some body hair is a sign of normal testosterone in men and there is nothing wrong with that. This feminizing of men that is taking over the world is disturbing. Nothing wrong with a man being a natural man if that is what he prefers.
At the beginning, Kate just took something out of the oven using a mitten. Then Buddy comes right down and grabs it with her bare hand without flinching. Lol

This entire show is fantastic. Kate Lawrence was a daughter, friend, wife, mother, confidante and teacher in the 70"s. Her formative years were in the range of the 30's to 50's. During those decades womans roles were far different in many ways. Women did not wear pants. It wasn't part of society. As dull as that sounds it is a truth. Kate loved her family and took great care of them. As a mother she was not their friend, she guided them throughout. The first time we saw a glimmer of friendship was with Nancy. Nancy and Peter split up, and Kate became much more than a mother that very second. Kate went back to college for beloved music degree. She fought against the perceived stereotypes of gender roles. Kate was growing in leaps and bounds, with the times and her role in FAMILY. Sada Thompson a gift to us all, she became Kate Lawrence and showed every truth about the times and the dynamics of a woman of caliber. Sada portrayed a woman whose dimensions are as vast as the universe. Great episode!
The good old days when people could have a good stiff drink after a tough day without being accused of being an alcoholic. And Buddy definitely deserved that dressing down for refusing her mother's order that she make dinner.
Sadly, this show couldn't be made today- society hasn't the patience and attention span for such depth of feeling and simplicity of life.

This is one of the more realistic episodes. Kate frustrated by school and Doug humbled by mortality.
The Cleavers had their after-dinner coffee moments, the Laurences have their drinks and real drinks too not just wine 😉
Willie takes a few bong hits at the end of a long day of doing nothing
One of my favorite episodes of the series.
im 64. had a pain behind my left eye so bad it made me throw up .ambulance to hospital. hbp crisis it was 200. now im 129. thanks to VA i earned from the Army .dont mess with that or chest pain. in reality. unless youd rather wake up some other place that you dontremember when you passed out. scary.
Have Doug pour you a stiff drink
Ironic that Jim Broderick died of a heart attack at 55, in 1982. Very sad....so young.
I read it was cancer.
@@MsTexas73 You are correct, it was cancer, not heart issues and Matthew lost his dad when he was only 20, which is too young to go through that.
I remember it threw me for a loop, my dad was the same age and a lot like Doug, and I was only Buddy's age then.
He looked easily 20 years older.
I liked James Broderick so much. Good man, and a handsome talented actor. Very sad he left us too soon.
I think people forget how devastating a heart disease diagnosis was at this time. my father died in 1983 at 57 (I was 17) because of heart disease. what would have been a triple bypass today (what he needed) was just not heard of at the time. I remember not being able to watch this episode when it came around in syndication.
we've come far in medical science in just a few decades. remember that.
I wanna smack that man ! Can you even imagine someone talking to anyone that way !?! Lol hard to listen to !
He is a huge a-hole..I wanna smack him sideways..
@@racheallange2056 I had a boss like that once. I wanted to give him a good smack too!lol
Unfortunately happens all the time and women still have to work harder to be taken seriously! The ERA still hasn’t been passed :(
He a misogynist who verbally assaults! Women with daddy issues love this type of man! This professor isn't a real man because he tells off women. Kate should have let Doug manhandle him!
@Veronica A. thank you
Way to go kate! I would not been able to stand up to him
Does anyone remember the name of the episode when the family was being menaced by one of Doug's unhappy clients?

@@Xanthas71 -Thanks for pointing me to that episode here on You Tube. I haven't seen it in forty years. As a matter of fact, I was beginning to think I'd imagined the damn thing. I just got done watching it. Thanks!!!!
I played it twice and noticed the goof.
I watched it on You tube the other day. Maybe this channel
This is one of the better episodes.
Willie said that he remembered his mom mentioned Doug wanted to be an astronomer when he was young. But it was Doug himself who told him that, when they were drunk and hanging out with the stripper. Maybe Wille should not drink because it made the show''s writers forgetful. LOL
People had MANNERS. !. In this family show. ! ..
Doug should've driven Kate to go get her purse! She was driving without a license. Good thing she didn't get pulled over by the cops.
Another one I haven’t seen!! ❤️❤️❤️
Me too, or if I have, it was back in '78 as a 13 year old
William Daniels was certainly no Mr. Feeny in this episode.
Suzy P. Parks also voice of the knight rider 🚙 car
Or maybe he is really think about how he used to talk to them and Boy Meets World it's just tone down a little bit
Mr. Feeny was mean can you blame him he was teaching says Jesus was 10
S. A. Parker to me he will always be Dr. Daniel Craig ( St. Elsewhere, another really great show!)
But he was Captain Nice, a 60’s tv show!
Bravo Kate! Bravo!!
...Miss those days when it was still okay to have a hairy chest and arms.
And mustaches 😊
Passionate Picker I’m a woman and I live it
Passionate Picker yes I prefer it on men. No I don’t.
@@TheMoonflwr671 ...Ignore the troll. 🤭
Lol
This makes zero sense. The teacher wants to kick her out because she's a housewife? Of a music appreciation class?! Gimme a break!
I think it was a beginning of music theory - she was in school as a music major - I would expect it would actually be quite challenging
I adore Willie and Buddys relationship!
I agree reminds me and my brother
He had no right to talk to her like that.
Gary Frank was in an episode iof Star Trek DS9, played Yedrin Dax in episode called Children of Time.🌌
He's a great actor. He appeared in a lot of the series that were on tV in the 80s and '90s.
He won an Emmy for this series. Studied with the famous Lee Strasberg, acting teacher 💫
...I'm for a stiff drink too!🍸
Dr.Taylor. Shame on you!!!!!
He was an imbecile. He had an older student who tried. He was lucky and did not know it.
That music professor was so rude to Kate.
Go Kate!!!!
William Daniels plays such a good jerk.
Some College Professors Should not be College Professors!! But i am not relating this to the role "William Daniels" plays here.
Feeny!!! Feeeennnnyyyy!
On the next "Boy Meets World", it's a Feeny sighting.
