I read that it was just Peter and Tim doing all the layers, and there are well over 100 layers in some parts of this. Peter goes really high in some of the background, and to the other extreme, Tim goes very low. I love this production, the arrangement and performance is great. I have heard it over and over and every time I hear it I am still amazed. It's simply beautiful. Your reaction was great.
Yep, just the two of them. Peter is a master of layering. It’s a song from the movie the Hobbit. If you stare at Tim at the end the camera shakes on that last note. SO good! Tim and Peter have collaborated on about 4 other songs. And Peter also sings with Home Free too. Love Peter’s voice - it’s so pretty. And Tim, well.....heh, heh.
Only two voices and many, many layers. I'm not sure just how many for this one (some other commenter probably knows) but some of Peter's work consist of more than 100 layered tracks. Fun fact, when this was filmed Tim was on a Caribbean island and Peter was in Oregon in the U.S.
Great reaction! Yes Peter and only Tim's voices. They did a great cover of the Hobbit song. Peter has done many collaborations with Home free and members from Home Free. Tim and Peter did a great rendition of the song Bridge over trouble Waters.
Tim Foust has a 5 Octave Range in his voice. As does Geoff Castellucci, which is very rare in a man. Most men have 3 but well trained voices can reach 4. 5 is just out of this world.
I was waiting for you to do this one. I fell in love with it instantly. It is very relaxing to me. And I think the last note Tim did was a G1, I think. I'm not a professional. But Wow.
Peter is a master at layering. This is phenomenal! Thanks for reacting! If you like this you will probably like Avi Kaplin (from Pentatonix) Change on the rise...So tribal! Like a Viking! He layers his also.
Tim's last name is pronounced F OW st.. And he has an incredible voice. Peter is really good and I first started listening to him years ago before Home Free.
Don't think that was fry. Sounded more like growl. Never get tired of Tim's low notes. As always, both of them are amazing singers and the work that Peter puts into the layering is breathtaking.
If you like Tim look on UA-cam for Tim Fouster blowes sound system live. He has actually done it twice. In one you can actually hear the base speaker shred.
Gabbsi, I know bass singers aree incfedible. There were 3 layers and sometimes 4 layers. When you want to hear Geof Castelucci , search for sixteen tons. That is amazingly warm and deeeep!
Tim & Peter: The Sound of Silence, Fire and Rain, Greensleeves, Teach Your Children, and Bridge Over Troubled Water should make for enjoyable listens. And anything from Tim's new album. Capella by one guy. It's a Doo Wop album. Pieces of Me.
I heard that there was 120 layers and just Tim and Peter were the only singers. They also sang each in a different location alone and it was mixed at a later time.
Great reaction. Please do "The day the world breaks down" by Ayreon. 13 minutes, 11 different singers including Floor Jansen and Simone Simons of Epica. Tells a futuristic sci-fi story of computers overtaking mankind. The singers portray different rolls in the story. The Diplomat, Prophet, Historian, Opposition Leader, etc. Very cinematic. Knock your socks off instrumentals. All guitars and keyboards played by Arjen Lucassen who is the mastermind behind Ayreon. He writes the songs, then recruits singers and other instrumentalists to help him realize his vision. He is from The Netherlands like Floor and Simone. Epic performances by all.
Thanks for the reaction video that was great. Please react to Peter hollens and Avi Kaplan singing "black is the color of my true loves hair", the harmonies and the arrengement are very cool. Please check out, you won't regret
Drago mi je da si konačno odlučila poslušati ovo remek djelo dvojice vrhunskih vokala,i da,samo su njih dvojica.Inače ima još suradnje ove dvojice(Bridge over troubled water.....The sound of silence).Peter Hollens je "master of multi layers",i kad složiš takva dva umjetnika--rezultat si čula.Sad možeš mirne duše poslušati "MAYDAY"-HOME FREE...i neće ti apsolutno ništa biti jasnooooo----I SWEAR !!!!!!!
No one ever notices that Peter keeps his eyes low or closed and Tim never blinks, just to add visual depth. Since your so passionate about the best voices in the world, I would recommend, Sissel, slow down.
OMG!!! This song sounded like it could have been a so called 'standard' song from the old Swedish folk music (Or perhaps more famously; Old Norse - stretching back perhaps even to the age of the Vikings)! I've seen a couple of songs with both these guys before....does anyone know whether they have Scandinavian roots or something??? Well - I'm sorry, but I just had to comment and ask about that. Since the singing is, after all what takes the front seat here! And it was beautifully performed. No amounts of superlatives could do it justice....so I'll just stop here.
My favorite Peter Hollins duet is with my favorite bass, Avi Kaplan. Avi Kaplan and Peter Hollins. Black is the Color of my True Loves Hair (17th century Scottish song) ua-cam.com/video/3oc1XuqzyGs/v-deo.html
Try some of Peter Hollens "Lord of the Rings" layering. Some great ones on there. Here is a link to the playlist ua-cam.com/video/yymS1Pb7JfM/v-deo.html
Peter Hollens is known for laying many layers of his voice on a song, but....he has never been a good enough artist to go on his own. He finds great soloists or groups and collabs with them. He is an ok singer, but just not good enough to be great all alone.
does anyone realize how well layered this is such a beautiful contrast with those two voices
Legendary😊
yes Tim and Peter's voices were the only ones used, Peter has said there are over 150 tracks layered on this masterpiece
150? What? Wow this is insane!!! What a masterpiece! Tim and Peter together are an awesome combination of voices
So why did they include a third guy in the video?
@@gaymaddox136 there are only the two of them in the video. The picture of three people esrly in the video is a picture of three Peters.
@@gaymaddox136 there is no third guy only Tim and Peter and at the start duplicates of Peter
It was actually 120

I believe Peter said in a comment thread that Tim only recorded one track, so all of the other layers are just Peter!
Tim also has a five octave range and can sing a great tenor. Watch him with the acapella group Home Free doing a cover of the song Mayday.
@@jeffmalloy8200, he also shows off his upper range in “Snow Globe.”
About 15 seconds into the intro, she’s already shaking her head in disbelief. I’m thinking "Just wait…"
Ever time I hear this I’m amazed, and I’ve listened to it dozens of times. You were appropriately stunned. I’m glad you enjoyed this.
I really appreciate your appreciation of the impact of this...
Your reactions are priceless...
I do not comment often, but you deserve appreciation and respect...
Hi Gabbsi, Your reaction & facial expressions to this track is absolutely priceless!!! Thanks!!!
Peter is the KING of layering....yes all voice sounds just the two of them !
You are quickly climbing my list of really enjoying to watch🌹😁🌹
Next on to Peter Hollens and his patrons with quarantined Home Free singing "I still haven't found what I'm looking for". You will like it.
Also Tim Foust + Peter Hollens doing Greensleeves. You get to hear the higher end of Tim's range on that one.
@@Horus175 Yeah! Tim going up high is always special! :)
Peter Hollens and Avi Kaplan: Black is the color of my true love's hair. Another stellar colllab.
Just wait 'till she hears blackbird.
I get the biggest kick from watching women's facial reactions to the vocal range of Tim Foust.
Yep, just the two of them. Peter is a master of layering. It’s a song from the movie the Hobbit. If you stare at Tim at the end the camera shakes on that last note. SO good! As soon as the song started, I thought of those dwarves. Now I understand why.

Peter Holles is really great! His collaborations with Lindsey Sterling are outstanding as well. :)
So hard to believe all that music is produced by just 2 people!
Heartfelt and very expressive reaction. Nicely done!
peter is really good at layering voices. check out some more of his videos. both of them have an incredible vocal range.
Great reaction! Yes Peter and only Tim's voices. They did a great cover of the Hobbit song. Peter has done many collaborations with Home free and members from Home Free. Tim and Peter did a great rendition of the song Bridge over trouble Waters.

When they recorded this they were thousands of mile apart. Tim was in the Cayman Islands and Peter was somewhere up in the Pacific Northwest.

Love Tim's look in this. I am a sucker for men with long hair. If there is deep voice too, well I am there
Just wait till she sees home freeze May Day she will be so confused
We Home Fries love watching reactors' first encounter with Tim's seismic bass.
AWESOME! Glad you saw this!
You do such a good job at this. I wish you downloaded everyday!
watch a hundres times!!!
He's a pearl clutcher for the ladies
I will admit, this is not really my style...but hell..i will always recognize the talent, i love all music that is good!!!
Don't think that was fry. Sounded more like growl. Never get tired of Tim's low notes.
As always, both of them are amazing singers and the work that Peter puts into the layering is breathtaking.
Tim's last note is a definitely growl note.
Sounds like a fog horn
Another group you will be amazed by is Voctave their rendition of "Mary Did You Know" featuring Mark Lowry (which mark wrote) ,sure to please
Yup just the two of them

Pentatonix O Come Ye Faithful is really good
Peter's range is insane. Not sure why he isn't a household name.
There’s a few drum solos by Adam over the years. You will love them.

now is the time to do Mayday
Credit is due to the producer/mixer/sound engineer that put it together. No one is appreciating him/her. Or perhaps Peter is that guy, I don't know.
So good

You’d love Peter and Home Free singing I Still Can’t Find What I’m Lookin For by U2 with full Patreon choir!
Paused at the start. Tenner says Gabbsi will need fresh underwear when Tim hits the last note.
G#1, Tim calls these ultra lows, Dragons Breath

Tim hit g#1 on the final note

Peter and Tim do a great job with Greensleeves and Tim reveals some of his higher range.
Home free mayday
That last note, the camera shakes pretty bad if you look closely.
They raised the roof to drop you into the basement.
its over 120 layers ^^
