YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!!!! That Trex Warrior game - I had it in my head it was from The One, but looking at the online copies that I could find, I turned up nothing. I wasn't sure if it was a fever dream and I started to question my sanity. Looking at it again today, it's a pile o' poop, but you scratched that itch.
I was very impressed with Trex Warrior at the time, obviously a very limited game and I wouldn't have splashed out £25.99 on it, but it was fun and unique in my experience at the time.
Having got most of these mags at the time I love the memories these videos evoke. Point was a complete favourite of mine, I put hours if not days into playing that!
That's the one I bought; I enjoyed Trex Warrior but I don't remember Giddy. Little wonder, because I never saw the appeal of Dizzy on the Amiga, it seemed like a thoroughly out of date style of game. I had often heard my friends talking about their enjoyment of Dizzy on their Speccys and Amstrads, but when 16-bits became mainstream Dizzy was old hat.
I think I had that issue of The One with that cover disk game, and I really liked it. So much that I actually but the time in complete the game. I have a faint memory of some of the arena being multi level.
I had the one mag and at the time remember being amazed by tree warrior even on my 500. The one was the mag I always looked forward to getting and I think it was pretty reasonable too and I could pick up in the local paper shop after school😄
Great video, thanks. There are a couple of things that are new to me. I totally agree with your selection but to be honest Snakes was absolutely the deciding factor for me, that seems like something we’d have got plenty out of. The One for Amiga: Ah yes that… classic(?) Trex Warrior? Got to say it actually is impressive for the old Amiga. FYI in actual, real world tank combat you do escape an enemy assault by driving backward as the strongest armour is on the front of the tank, so that’s what you want facing the enemy. Giddy! Is disrespectful but still better than the original? I need to check that one out? Ishar 2 Looks fantastic but just like you I’d have had fun in the demo but by ‘93 I didn’t really have the time to invest in an RPG like that. I’m disappointed Snakes doesn’t feature actual snakes but it’s definitely something my mates & me would have played together. Winner stays on, anyone? 😄 Amiga Computing: Minisola seems like something I’d play but yeh, the lack of 2 player is odd? Poing, yes please! I’ll take any brake out like game, thank you. (At least ones without a timer, I hate timers in games.) You forget just what a big deal morphing software was in the day? Yeh, Crazy Sue …Goes on looks & sounds great. I’ve never seen it before so don’t know if it got an updated release? Amiga Action: To my mind F1 Challenge looks a little dated for ‘93 but looks fun? Oh Blastar is a compelling case for Amiga Action to win this one, I like shooters that aren’t just linear. Battle Cars 2 is a followup to Battle Cars? Well now I’m just lost?! 😄 it’s technically impressive but I don’t know if it’s that great of a game? A mini Syndicate sounds like a fun addition to the disks? Hard to go wrong with Syndicate & yeh, de facto “DLC” in the form of a unique level for a demo is always good.
I knew some one would recognize the inspiration, I checked the game out after you commented and yeah I can see it. it still looks like they have added a few new bits, like not having to clear all the bricks.
I have to confess, that i have never read the AMIGA COMPUTING magazine 😹. POING reminds me of KRAKOUT from Gremlin Graphics on the Commodore 64 😺👍🕹️. I had the demo version of GIDDY for my Amiga 500 back in the mid 1990's. It was a nice game 😸👍🕹️. SNAKES is a brilliant game 😺👍. Me and my friends played this game on my friend's Amiga 1200 😹👍🕹️🕹️. I got to find that game again 😹👍🕹️! SYNDICATE is a brilliant classic game 😺👍🕹️. Just absolutely brilliant 😺👍🕹️!
I'd gotten a new cover disks of Amiga Computing, but never really read it. so it was fun to check it out. I've seen a few people mention Krakout, it does look like it took that as a base then improved on it.
I genuinely think Dizzy could have survived as a series for a lot longer if Codemasters had hired the Wibble World Giddy guys to take it on. The controls and quality of life improvements over the 'real' Dizzy games really stand out. I had this issue of The One and I pretty much never touched my copy of Fantasy World Dizzy again once I'd played Giddy.
Big Red who took over Dizzy did try, but it always felt their focus was on the other versions of the game. where Giddy, while it has a few of its own issues, was just Amiga and they did some great things with just a small team. would have been interesting if they were given a real budget to make a full game.
I always love these videos thank you Mr GouldFish!
Thanks, always great to hear that some one is enjoying them!

I know that feeling of knowing a game but have no idea where or how you played it.
so happy that I've helped you.

Awesome! great to hear that you enjoy them, Poing did seem a very interesting game and I could see putting a lot of time into it.
Another lovely selection!
Thanks mate!
It would be The One Amiga this month for me. Both Trex Warrior and Giddy are lovely, easily accessible games I had a lot of fun with as a kid.
They were lots of fun.

Ooh that sounds like fun, I never got that far but multiple levels would have made things even more interesting.

I like the fact Giddy is using the music from Fantasy World Dizzy lol
If you are going to grab some music, why not grab one that suits the game 😁
You are absolutely right about the f17 name change.
I had a feeling 😁

Snakes was fun, but I wasn't quite feeling it like some of the other games.
but I can see it being a fun one with mates!
Happy that you enjoyed it.
Poing is a clone of Krakout on the 8bit systems, it was published by Gremlin Graphics.
Yup .. this. I was going to write it but beaten to it 😊
I knew some one would recognize the inspiration, I checked the game out after you commented and yeah I can see it.

AC was trolling with that cursor.
Very much so!

It's Giddy!!!! 🤣
Poing is way more fun that it have any right to be. Wasted many hours with the various versions of it.
It is a lot of fun right!
I think it was created by Paul van der Valk who was the sound programmer on some commercial games such as Hybris. Wonder what the story is there.
Oh wow morphing. I had a similar soft for Windows back in the mid to late late 90s... that brought back memories...
Morphing software is always fun.
