    So basically its impossible to get to Evermeet for 20 different reasons and even if you manage to get there anyways, its just an island full of snooty elves.

    An all elf campaign could be really interesting. I've always been drawn to them, I think it would be fascinating to put yourself in the shoes of a creature with such a long lifespan. Just think how radically different our own history would be if we had living memories of the world as it was in the 1500s

      It is most interesting to me that elves live some of the longest lifespans, yet often times value their lives so low. Amlaruil's children suffered horrible fates, another reason why she grieved for so long, one of her daughters straight up sacrificed her life and soul, and dragged an Elder Eternal Evil with her to elven heaven to save the lives of Evermeet.

    I once wrote a campaign where a Vampire Queen employed her navy to attack Evermeet with the unwitting help of the party in order to obtain a Mythallar. Thanks to Evermeet being partially in the feywild, the Mythallar they obtained (through dubious means) was still functioning and, as you probably guessed, a conduit for incredible power.
    This island is just perfect to hide powerful hidden treasures or ancient evils on. It's a fabulous way to open a campaign (with an elven adventurer opening pandora's box etc) or a great sojourn away from the normal enemies of your campaign (undead in my case).

    I love how you can see how much they were inspired by Tolkien's works (obviously themselves inspired by myths and legends) and it would be cool to create an Earendil-type character who actually manages to get to Evermeet.

    I had already decided to start my first Campaign with a shipwreck and washing ashore a mysterious Island that turned out to be in the Feywild. I only later realized that Evermeet and the Misty Isle were a thing and very similar in lore to mine so now Seeker of the Misty Isle is my favorite Prestige Class.

      I feel it was inspired by the Elves going into the west in Lord of the Rings. Where men and others could never get to. But since it's DnD they had to give it mechanical reasons to not be attainable. So yeah it's a bit overpowered.

    Excelent video!
    There is a thing that always makes me confused:
    Isn't the creation of the tablets of faith by lord Ao also a "sundering"? Shouldn't that be the first? then if the sundering by the elves was actually the first, why the one made by Ao at the start of 5th edition be the seccond? isn't a sundering a separation of Abeir and Toril? I am so lost. lol
    Where do the elves go when they die? isn't it Arvandor? feels wierd that they might go to Feywild.

    • @Jorphdan
      @Jorphdan  5 років тому +1

      The first sundering was when Lord Ao tor apart Abeir and Toril into two separate planets. This was a long time ago during a war with the primordials. Then the "sundering" that took place to create Evermeet tapped into the same magic that Ao used to sunder the planet which is why it was called the Sundering. Then the "Second Sundering" occured when Abier and toril were back together in 4th edition and Lord Ao split them apart, again. It's confusing wibbly wobbly timey whimey.

    • @thiagodalbo2905
