  • As explained in the vid, just got this last night. It was advertised on Facebook Marketplace. The seller, Ken, kindly delivered it to me. A champion bloke who also loves trains. I will do a future vid after I iron out my track deficiencies, hauling some suitable freight. I am impressed with the weight and motor performance, I think it is one of my best locomotives.

Hi Steven, In your last video I stated "you never cease to amaze me, Wow, you have done it again with this superb Mantua 2-6-6-2. It has incredible detail and runs so smoothly. Its a shame it stalls on one of your curves but I am sure you will sort that out. The seller sounds like a great guy, you got the Loco for a fair price and he delivered it for a few dollars as well. Interesting to see what rolling stock he will sell you, it must be good going by the condition of the Loco. Thanks for sharing this wonderful Loco with us its really beutiful. Cheers, Paul.🚂👍👍🙏

@@paulvozman842 Another lucky grab Paul. I didn't even try and talk him down as he had already reduced it by $50. But the personal delivery was excellent. I shall pull up and relay that part of my track soon so i can run it. This is such a cool looking engine, and it runs beautifully. He had only ever run it once and put it back in its box, so it is virtually brand new. I consider myself quite lucky to have chanced upon it. Steven.

Only have one Mantua, the garish green Crescent steamer sold under the Matchbox name. Pretty much all metal and a great runner. Have been keeping an eye out for other Mantua stuff but don't see much here in England. This one has just gone to the top of the want list! Excellent beast & thanks for showing.

@@fairweathertrains3029 This is the only one I have in my collection. I have not seen them come up much for sale down here, but I shall be keeping my eye out for others. Thanks for commenting mate, much appreciated.

Great loco Steven. It's worth a new layout with wide curves just for that. I have a few Mantua locos and they can be a bit "hit and miss" which is a shame. I do believe that the company shut down a couple of years ago which is also a shame. David.

@trainsontuesday Hi David, I was reading that Lifelike ended up with the brand, so I assume Mantua went down with that ship. I am thinking a new layout is the go, and in the new year I hope to make that a reality. I have room to build a 10 metre X 7 metre shed in my yard, which I am in the process of getting quotes for. It will be my shed, so only my stuff will be allowed in it. It will be air-conditioned, insulated and dust proof. I will cede my space in the house to my wife, and 2 grown adult children who continue to think they have a permanent living arrangement. You might think eviction might be cheaper, but it turns out that it would be me getting evicted. A more expensive proposition, don't you think?

@@stevenpeaketrainsandstuff3682 Oh, you've got me laughing now Steven. That new shed sounds wonderful, probably big enough to live in if you do get evicted. David.
