I had my first martini at the Greenhouse with my first GF that I brought down from Connecticut when I was 17 and she was 16. I also puked for the first time at a bar, outside in the bushes that used to be there back in 1986. I grew up on the island visiting my mom in Massachusetts during the summer vacation through the 1980s. In the late 1980s The Greenhouse used to have a live band play on the stage that was where the gambling machines are now. That was the party time for St. Thomas, which has largely left the island.
This is a great review of the fun tourist spots on STT. Across the parking lot from Duffy's Love Shack in Red Hook is XO, a restaurant/bar that caters to locals, as well as visitors, with friendly bartenders and food that is always good and sometimes outstanding! Try it next time you visit.
Me too.. It looked spicy Sort of reminded me of a shrimp dish we had in Maui, but obviously made with shrimp instead of calamari. It was called 'firecracker shrimp'... delicious!
Kempa’s food truck at Brewers Beach is the real deal, best Patais on the island, the market at the turn to Coki Point best chicken leg local food for real.
Next time travel to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 entire island and Spanish Virgin Island Vieques&Culebra $4V$5C round trip,Puerto Rico is not only Old San Juan,it for tourists ,Ponce and West Coast is better and inexpensive,Greeting of Ceiba, east coast of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 Gilbert.
Hey thanks! We rented a jeep for the week just to make getting around easier. Not the cheapest option. There is a red bus that runs the island but I don't think it follows a strict schedule. Taxis are also stationed around Magen's Bay, Red Hook, and Charlotte Amalie but we didn't see them anywhere else besides that.
Husband and I are looking to visit st Thomas for his 30th bday. Would you recommend an all inclusive resort or pay food separate? How much should you budget for food?
How fun! For our 6 days, we spent around $700 on food between both St Thomas and St John, eating out 2-3 times each day. We stayed in an Airbnb so I am not sure what the resorts are like on the island but it might be worthwhile!
hi! my husband and i are going to st. thomas in november for our honeymoon! do you guys recommend renting a car? we are trying to decide whether we should rent a car or not.
My answer is going to be yes, but I have a couple of questions to be sure. How long are you going. How much do you want to see, and do you want to explore a lot of St John as well? If yes, then yes, I'd recommend a car, but make sure it's one that is all wheel drive for driving around the mountains. If you do rent, Dexter's was the best. Lot of horror stories about rental companies there. They were great to rent through, and everyone I've recommended to them have messaged back saying how nice they were
@@TheDetourDuo we will be there for 7 days, and we do want to explore the island a bit especially bc from what i understand, our hotel which is the frenchman’s reef is a bit out of the way from a lot of things bc it’s atop a large hill, but thank you for the info!
@jimin4537 oh then, yeah. I'd say rent a car for sure. You'll have a better experience that way. As far as I know the taxis mosgly hang out in Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie, and it can be pretty difficult to get around if you aren't staying in those two areas
Hello! My fiancé and I are pumped to visit these islands and your vids are so helpful! Could you tell me what the COVID procedures are in the USVI? Will we get tested as we enter the island?
Thank you so much for watching! Are you traveling from the US? From the time we visited in Jan. there were no COVID procedures in place for citizens traveling from the US since it's a US territory. If you're a non-US citizen then the requirement is you need to be fully vaccinated with proof prior to entry. I believe it's recommended to get tested before and after you travel, but not required
Brooks & de' coal pot were the only real "local" restaurant you ate at. The others are tourist spots. You really missed out on other great local Caribbean food.
Which restaurant in the video would you most like to try?

I’m headed to St Thomas in a couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to trying the calamari that you recommended.
Yes! try all of the food you can! Find some friendly locals and they can recommend even more great spots. That's how we found a few places.
