I just want to thank you for your videos. I put them on when I need to get into the mood to paint or when I think I'm failing at a painting somehow when I'm listening to you I can work through it instead of throwing my hands in the air and saying "well I'm done, see I knew you couldn't paint". Please don't ever stop, as someone who has fallen through the cracks of life, finding your channel and being able to listen for free is priceless. Hopefully one day I can sell a few paintings and claw my way back into earning something for myself and build a small career but for now I'm just content with getting motivated by your videos and learning to get past my own obstacles.

Wonderful video as usual. I'm going to paint over my old paintings that were not masterpieces lol and stop saving everything I paint. Just practice sometimes is is important. I think that will free me up to try new things without fearing that I'm going to ring my painting. Just knowing it's just a practice painting gives you the license to practice. Thanks!

It's hard to instill common sense in others, especially in a exciting way, but you manage to do just that so well.

"What if..." -what I used to always say when I was a kid.
I am going to start breaking a lot more "rules"... again, to play with the chaos, and find natures rhythms.
Thank you for so much great content in every video you gift us with.

So..."I'm painting with my toes completely curled, and my butt cheeks completely tight, because I"m like "oooh what's this going to do?" Oh my yes! and I thought the best painters just "went at it" with no fear or trepidation. Ha! Clearly if you're not pushing the envelope you're staying in the box/comfort zone and being BORING. It's the courage to take those risks that really do and can push you into greatness. It's finding that sweet spot of "Oh Wow!" that's what you want, that's certainly what I want. And you won't get there in the safe zone. So push the envelope and practice the "What if" scenario. Thanks so much Stefan! Love you bunches!!!

I wanted to share my discovery of light effects. I ran a copy of a photo taken of a piece of art. But I messed up and printed it in black and white. Well I thought I had messed up. The results showed the fantastic lights and darks so vividly!

The only thing that's better than plainair, is western art. Where you have to be as much of a cowboy as an artist. REmmington and Russel croniled the west. That tradaion is carried on by the Cowboy Artist of America.
After waking up with the desire to become an artist. I went through my back issues of Western Houseman. Its a treasure. Even though I"m learning 3 chords on the guitar.

Composition can be very overwhelming. I start painting, and then I step back and look at what I have placed on the canvas, then I alter it. Light, shadow, perspecitve, or just plain size of things. I personally do not think this is a waste of time or paint. First, it is the process of painting, without judgement, that allows my genius to come visit me.
Love all your videos. Love all your ideas. Love that you are not slavishly teaching the "proper" way to paint something. Otherwise, all paintings would look like a Stefan Baumann and not that of the artist who created it.

I have been watching watching a lot of your videos -and really enjoy them. I feel I am learning a lot and even noticed a few things that you suggested I have already done. Like with the cell phone and the zooming and cropping. So that made me feel good-because I was beginning to think-Oh no I am cheating and how do I get to the point where I don't have to cheat-So all these years I gave myself credit for being an artist-I was just practicing -lol. And then the part where you say-throw the rules out and be creative-but yet follow the rules while being creative-I was a little confused by that. Then one of your students asked the same thing I was thinking. So I think I get it-because if you don't ask yourself "what if" then you will never know the answer. The what if is the part where it becomes yours-where you put your spin on it so to speak. Breaking rules are what has created us in the first place. Breaking rules has brought to us so many discoveries over the years. Like when an inventor changes a formula and suddenly there is something grand sitting in front of them. Who knows we might stumble upon a whole new way to paint or even to combine the paint to make it stand out or even last beyond archives. Love painting and you give your knowledge so freely-just hope I can absorb and use my talents in at least a portion of the way you have used yours. Thank you so much for inspiring. Keep up the good work and God Bless.
