    If you get more time with it I would try other modes. Old school feels closer to standard weights or time under tension as well, pump can be good too but it's very foreign how variable the resistance feels when you do it. I like eccentric for lateral raises since shoulder exercises can be so difficult(at least for me). Other people have said that pump mode is better for explosive movements. I've had mine close to 2 months and have already seen quick improvement with strength as compared to dumbbells I was using before. One thing not mentioned in the demo is you can turn scaled workouts on or off for the workout builder, if it's on it will auto increase starting weights or stay the same based on your last workouts performance.

      Thanks for the info. Yes I used eccentric mode for some lateral raises and liked that as well. Definitely a lot to try!

      @@ConnectTheWatts yeah I was thinking the same. It fits perfectly under my couch or bed. I was waiting to see if peloton came out with something, but if they don't announce anything by the end of the year I'll probably get this sometime in 2023

      @@miguelsilvestri I want to see more consolidation in the connected fitness space(too many subscriptions). If peloton bought vitruvian that would be a perfect match in my opinion.

      @@Dude-does-stuff yeah I am on the same page and I think it would be perfect. But given how much cash peloton is bleeding, and the labored rollouts of the tread and pending introduction of the rower, it seems unlikely they could swing an acquisition in the next year or two. Although maybe vetruvian's valuation is cheap I have no idea how much they do in sales

      @@Dude-does-stuff yeah agree, Multiple subscriptions isn't really sustainable long term for me at least. Similarly, im all in with Peloton at the moment (though with the mess Barry seems to be making of things who knows if that will last) im holding out for a Peloton device but I'm not hopeful at the moment.

    ok so this has me really really intrigued, would love more coverage of this when you get the chance. Still really sad that Peloton dont look to be reelasing a similar product anymore. That said, The guide drives me nuts so perhaps they should just stick to bikes as that seems to be where they excel.

    Can't figure out how to change my weight mid-workout without having to start the whole workout over. I programmed my workouts, but sometimes need to change my 2nd or 3rd sets if I guessed wrong.

    Nice! Are you also planning on giving us your personal impressions of the session and the device in an upcoming video? And another question: how much did you miss the ability to pull from overhead?

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 роки тому +5

      I generally like to be able to test something like this more throughly to really have anything too useful to say… probably will talk about it in a podcast coming up… but I think the tech was impressive and loved the fact it is so small and portable. There are a ton of attachments as well, with one coming soon that I believe adds the ability for overhead pulling… another cool thing being they can expand on this in a lot of ways since everything is built around the base. There are a lot of modes from eccentric loading, to drop sets, classes, programs, etc.. many of which I need to try a lot more of before I can say how good it is.

    • @Dude-does-stuff

      It's not recommended by the company but it would be super easy to connect the machine to an overhead freeweight pulley if one were so inclined

    The max weight limt is not due to limits of wall mounting. Try pulling the tonal off the wall, even 1000lb of force can't get it off unless someone did a bad job mounting. The limit is due to two reasons 1) max power that can be pulled from a wall outlet. But not a dead end, because there are workarounds like vitruvian did with a gear box but the gear box makes insanely annoying sound. 2) the arms in Tonal can't handle the very high forces at the joints. Even 100lb on each arm can create 2000lb at the joint/hinges. Just like a seesaw, a heavy weight at short distance equates to a low weight at long distance. Thats why we see lot of broken/damaged tonal arms. The floor based fixed exit makes it lot easier, than having long arms. Also, arms can only be so long before they hit the roof or floor or amplify the force at hinge too much, short arms restricts the space and makes it very uncomfortable to workout crammed up against the Tonal.

  • @jayv205

    When you where doing curls, the motion did not seem that smooth. Was this due to struggling against the resistance or was it due to the motors?

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 роки тому +2

      I think the resistance... we had it on "Pump mode" which increases the resistance rapidly during the movement if you have a fast velocity... when the movement is not in "Pump Mode" everything was definitely smoother since the load stayed the same, or in the case of eccentric mode, would increase loading at the top of the movement rather than during.

      Time under tension and old school mode are more like standard weights and smoother. Pump mode has more to do with velocity, the faster you lift the faster and more weight goes on. I've had the machine 2 months and mostly use old school, time under tension and eccentric. I think they might demo pump mode just to show how quickly it can change resistance based on input.

    • @Dude-does-stuff
      @Dude-does-stuff 2 роки тому +1

      @@AlexSmith-ln1tv absolutely. This machine gives me the best workouts I've ever had. I feel more comfortable pushing myself because I know that I'll be safe even if I fail a rep. Also if I'm failing(depending on the mode) it will ease the resistance a bit so I can complete it. Also, I can't say this enough, how easy it is to flow through a workout with the machine adjusting resistance as you go is the best. I have been more consistent with this machine than anything before and I think a big part of it is that the machine allows you to just lift without any of the tedious stuff associated with free weights.

    This shit drives me crazy. Todays people who want to train need all the crap. Apps,programs charting this and that. It doesn’t get you any faster results. Also all the new industry terms people now repeat. Time under tension, hypertrophy eccentric concentric. And you’re going to pay a monthly fee just to have a trainer and using their apps? . Holy shit people. Come on. I guess people want all the high tech crap to train now a days. I get the space saving idea but for most of you go to the gym or get a better home unit. Worry about busting you ass sweating and training hard over some limited high tech suck you dry device. This is for people who are looking for all the bs to motivate them to train thinking this will finally be the answer. Again for some of you this could be beneficial but for most. no

    • @RonBudLlamaDrama
      @RonBudLlamaDrama Рік тому +1

      First of all, there is no subscription required after the free one runs out. Secondly, the app interface lets you adjust things for the platform, I personally don't use or care for trainer features. Third, training consistency is a lot easier because I can get damn near everything out the corner of my living room with less junk. So perhaps, learn more about it before making high strung comments.
