This is a gift! I grew up in a German household & my mom & grandma were real pros out of making many different types of recipes out of sugar, flour & eggs. We had a similar version of this. I have been doing PSMF for the past few weeks & have been able to lose 10 pounds that I had regained. This way of eating is so simple, especially with the help of generous people like you sharing these great recipes. Thanks so much!
Thank you!! My ex was German and his parents both came from Germany and his mother used to love teaching me how to make all the cakes and cheesecake the way the Germans did so I could pass it on to my two daughters when they were older. She also taught me how to make perogies from scratch. She always made her cheesecake flat like that and she used dry cottage cheese and she was fond of Dr. Oteker baking powder and vanilla powder and pretty much anything that she could buy with that name on it for baking. Of course I had never heard of that name until their frozen pizzas became popular and then I loved the spinach. Anyway I will thoroughly enjoy making the cheesecake like that and I think plain and simple will be perfect! Thank you again for all your incredible recipes!! I don’t know how in the world you manage to come up with them but I’m soooo glad you do! I keep trying to keep up with your current recipes now that I’ve found your channel and I’m trying to go back to watch all your previous recipes as well! Oh and I have to thank you again for the suggestion where to get Allulose because I couldn’t believe my eyes I saw it again on Amazon it’s in a purple and white bag I forget the brand maybe Health Garden but it was the cheapest I could find on Amazon and it was 11% savings and it was $38.25 for a 397 gram bag!!!! That’s crazy! So I looked and there were others but they wanted $73.64 for a Splenda version!! Anyway insane prices so I looked on the site you recommended and I found it for a a little over $10 for the Health garden brand!!! Needless to say I bought quite a few!! It’s so wrong that they are charging this price and I dont know why our government isn’t allowing it? It could help soooo many diabetics. Thank you sooo much you’ve saved me soooo much money being able to get it and I’m able to get free shipping or pay next to nothing for it. 🥰🙏🏻🇨🇦
Thanks so much for this comment! I think once I've moved I want to redo the Kase kuchen because now I have new ideas for it! And I've gotten better with the PSMF bread part. So stay tuned for version 2.0! Your MIL's cake sounds exactly like what I grew up with! 💗
@@KetogenicWoman my mom used baker’s cheese (similar to cottage cheese) for Käsekuchen, and Dr. Oetker Vanillinzucker was always at hand.🙂 I had a German mother, father, Omas, etc. In fact, I was born in Hamburg.😉 But here I am now in beautiful BC, too.
Thank you for this recipe. I will be using your custard to make my old favorite bread pudding using the PSMF bread in cubes. I have some cubes of PSMF in the freezer. Just waiting to become bread pudding.
I actually want to try this one again, I think I will use dry cottage cheese on the next one. My Mom (who is Russian/German and made this all the time did love this one though!)
Just bought the swerve and yeast for the recipe and made this using the vitamix. My husband liked it and will tell me tomorrow if anything in it disturbs his sleep which is the ultimate test in our house. I think I had an aftertaste from the allulose, tartar or perhaps the swerve. But it was pretty easy to make and a nice treat to go with my afternoon Kaffeezeit. My mother (Irish in Boston) used to make Apfel Kuchen which was similar with thin slices of apple layered over the top.
Yummy looking. I spray my pizza cutter so nothing sticks. I'm working my way through your videos. Fun! I'm in a desert rut though. Time for more psmf meals!
Hope you like it! My sister was here today and I asked her if she wanted some kasekuchen, she ate it and said it was good. I didn't tell her it was pretty much zero carb and zero fat!
Oh wow, another lovely recipe to experiment with! I have partly German heritage also, and we had a coffee cake rather than the kasekuchen, but I am not sure what they used to make it very moist. My mom did add sour cream to a lot of her cakes. Later she would use the old Bisquick recipe which was very dry and none of us were very happy with that...Thanks again!
Wow, so many German aunts and I've never heard of this one! I've got the rouladen, wassail, etc. Just need the specific yogurt and I can make this. My allulose is a mix to make it more 1:1, it also has a small amt of monk fruit and stevia. As another commenter mentioned, I'm newly sprinkling glycine on top of things that should be sweet. No clue how it bakes though. Thanks for the interesting recipe! 🤍
I grew up with German grandparents and Grandma (& my mother) made "poor man's pie" which was a thin layer of eggy custard flavored with cinnamon and baked in a shallow pie crust. I'm hoping this might remind me of that! 😊 We also always made German Sour Cream Twists! A delicate, multi-layered pastry with buttery cinnamon filling. These were a yeast dough so like a cross between croissants and cinnamon rolls. That one seems a bit impossible to "ketofy"!! Lol
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💐🤗🥰👍✌️ I always wanted something like that You just made it and solve my dilemma with this resepie Thank you I love it for PSMF days as the end of day with a cap of tea !
For the macros it says 9 net carbs (1.2 total), I'm confused, should this be the other way around? This looks lovely by the way, I'm looking forward to trying it next week.
Because this was intended for PSMF days! Full fat yogurt would work just fine! To learn more about PSMF read this: ketogenicwoman.com/what-is-psmf-diet/
I'm using the macros from Maria Emmerich, so I follow her and @Keto Naturopath. If there are any that you know of to check out, I'd love the inspiration!
I have another question…how many whole eggs would I use (replacing egg whites) in the custard and how many lemon packets? Thank you again for all your wonderful information. I’m looking forward to trying…yum 🙂 Stay safe & well❣️
Hmmm, I think since I used 3/4 cup egg whites I would probably take a measuring cup and add the whole eggs until you get close to that amount. As for lemon that is a personal taste. I think I used 2 packets on one of my cakes and wished it was more lemony. So maybe 3-4 packets?
@@KetogenicWoman I have the lemon packets and recently got lime packets and orange packets. Actually I was able to buy them in 100 size packets and it’s much more economical that way. I think I may try with lime one day and maybe orange too just to change it up, may be similar to a creamsicle with the orange and a key lime cheesecake with the lime?? Maybe?
@@KetogenicWoman I understand that. Though I heard it's becoming more widely available in the US, if still relatively rare. As a German I do prefer German cheesecake over the New York style one, even though the more creamy NY style one can be nice as occasions as well. A lot of modern German recipes call for cream cheese and quark, with a higher quantity of quark, so kind of a mixture of both.
This is a great recipe! Love your creative ideas! Since I’m new to PSMF and still learning, is it ok to eat dairy on PSMF days? Thanks in advance- Tami
Yes you can! The yogurt is dairy, just has to be low in carbs and fats. Milk is not really a keto thing once you look at the macros, heavy cream is for non PSMF days, so yogurt fit in there perfectly!
I soooo enjoy your videos‼️ Do you think one could substitute the yogurt with sour cream ? I know it would change the macros , but I usually use sour cream more than yogurt. Thanks again …Stay safe & well❣️
