I just recently read,”How to not die this Thanksgiving.” Normally, I would skim through the bullet points and move on. But after reading some of the paragraphs, I was hooked. Funny, serious, witty, brief, alarming, impactful, informative, casual, friendly, and entertaining are all some of the words I’d use to describe this article. It spoke to me. So I googled James Hamblin and with the popularity of the name James going down consecutively every year, it helped expedite the search. Thank you and let the amazing hour turn into an amazing life.
I was redecorating my bathroom way back at 12:30am! Hanging some twinkle lights and art etc. Then it was time to eat a snack, watch tv, move the giant pile of clean clothes from my bed (where I’d planned to fold them and put them away) back into the laundry basket. I’ve moved that pile..four nights in a row now? Anyways it’s very late now and watching UA-cam but I took some sleeping that are hopefully finally kicking in! 🤞
Who has time for this when we are expected to sleep, exercise, get ready, commute, work for 8 hours, make dinner, do chores, and try to squeeze in a tiny bit of time to relax or work on goals?
TheWigwamer have less lamps on. Also the light from lamps is more on the orange and yellow scale of light. Cell phones give off a blue light which is more similar to the day sky. Blue stimulates us to stay awake. Orange and yellow are less likely to keep us awake. That's why lamps aren't as unhealthy as cell phones late at night. But it is a good idea to have less of them on before bed
Tamerlane why do you get depressed? Maybe that's exactly what you need: time alone with your thoughts to figure out why you're depressed after you think about your day, and ways to fix that. Because you can fix that.
@@hybby thats not how depression works bro. Your thoughts will do bad stuff even if there's nothing logical to be upset about. My depression and anxiety go wild with stuff I don't think is going to happen and that I don't care about it- but it makes me care even though I logically know everything is fine.
Worth mentioning the latest iOS has a night mode that limits the blue light emitted from the screen to gear your brain for sleep. That's not nothing, but good insights especially at the beginning about days running together if you don't reflect. All for it
That was funny, and not what I was expecting! I have said for years that it's just math: a year at 50 is a much smaller percentage of your life than when you are 7, so of course we perceive it differently. Welp, that was helpful and wrong, if people at all ages say time is accelerating...or does that actually support my explanation? :)
Reading a book always put me to sleep for years; couldn't go to be without *something* to read. Now all I do is read or watch on my laptop, and I can't go to sleep! Can't read print magazines or books now either. Hooked on the screen. Help!
Thomas Favre If a person is learning a lot of stuff right at the end of the day, that might be a little bit too stimulating. However, reading fiction is actually really useful for turning down one's mind at the end of the day. And doing writing before bed can be immensely useful for people. The reason why is because many people stay awake due to thoughts and "remembering" happening ceaselessly in their mind. Writing lets you get that stuff out of your head and down on paper so you can look at it objectively, as well as remember things without needing to use your brain to remember them. Not all brain activity is the same.....
This guy sleeps in his suit

Hmm. What about all the synthetic light shooting out of your lamps?

What he said at the beginning is so true!
whenever I take a minute to think about my day I get very depressed. I'd rather want a distraction than be left alone with my thoughts.
Tamerlane same

This is a great idea! I'm not sure James is fully on board himself, though.

I get a lot of sleep 9-11 hours a night but I always feel tired, it's as if my sleep quality is bad, how do I fix that?
Hehe awesome !
Actually, reading or writing right before going to be bed is not recommended either, because it is brain activity.
