      Reasons Music Can Help Someone:
      Emotional Connection:
Music often resonates with emotions, providing a sense of understanding and empathy. Songs with relatable lyrics can make someone feel less alone and understood.
      Mood Regulation:
Listening to uplifting or calming music can help improve mood and reduce feelings of anxiety or depression. Music can trigger the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward.
      Distraction:
Music can serve as a healthy distraction from negative thoughts. Engaging with music-whether through listening, singing, or playing an instrument-can shift focus away from distressing emotions.
      Expression:
Music provides a means of expressing emotions that might be difficult to articulate otherwise. Writing lyrics, composing, or playing an instrument can be a therapeutic outlet for releasing pent-up feelings.
      Connection and Community:
Music often brings people together, creating a sense of community and belonging. Whether through concerts, music groups, or shared playlists, feeling connected to others can combat loneliness.
      Memory and Nostalgia:
Certain songs can evoke positive memories and a sense of nostalgia, reminding someone of happier times and providing hope for the future.
      Relaxation and Stress Relief:
Music, particularly genres like classical, ambient, or nature sounds, can promote relaxation and reduce stress. Listening to such music can help someone calm down during moments of high stress or anxiety.
      Interesting Facts:
Music Therapy: There is a professional field dedicated to using music therapeutically. Music therapists work with individuals to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs through music.
Scientific Support: Studies have shown that music can reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol, improve heart rate variability, and enhance emotional well-being.
      Examples:
Personal Anthems: Many people have specific songs that they consider personal anthems, which they turn to during tough times for motivation and strength.
Shared Playlists: Friends or loved ones can create playlists for someone in distress, filled with songs that convey messages of support and love.
      Conclusion:
Music's ability to resonate deeply with our emotions, provide comfort, and foster connections makes it a powerful tool in helping individuals through difficult times. Whether through direct emotional support, distraction, or community building, music can play a significant role in maintaining mental health and preventing feelings of despair.

I’m on the same page Elisha.
I learned guitar a while ago and it seriously takes up so much of my free time these days. I think you might like to try it. It’s a bit tricky at first but like jiu jitsu or something you just gets better month by month. and then there you are…
sitting in front of your 4x12 Speaker cabinet, with a 100W amp sitting on top, plugged into a 7 string guitar down tuned with some crispy pickups, and you hit that power chord and you feel this wall of power+sound combined fills the room and vibrates the walls and then you start just chunkin it and playing heavy riffs that you think of on the spot and it’s just like ‘fuck yeah’

I've listened to metal since I was about 10 years old, will be 41 this year, so metal has been there for me for over 30 years. Once you understand it and can appreciate it, nothing can compare. The subgenre you are listening to is called djent. It was started by Meshuggah, and then continued by bands like Periphery, but if you want some absolute sheer brutality for strength training, check out Aborted's new album, "Vault of Horrors". Nothing but testosterone fuel.
