Too many people think that every game has to cater to them. (I play a few hours a day, so make leveling fast; or I play a few hours a day, so make the game solo; I don't have to look for a group.) Steven clearly stated his vision of the game with long leveling, group play, and open-world PvP. All of which I like, and I hope it stays this way. I liked what Steven said: "We are not focusing on competing with games like WoW; they have a very different approach to gameplay. We will have PvE content, but it's not our intention to make it better than those games." This is a game for long grinds, no hand-holding, and PvX enjoyers. There are many alternatives if that's not your cup of tea.
You can farm item drops from killing Goblins and Minotaurs. Low drop rate, but plenty of significant upgrades including set gear. Also, regarding the main story line, the game will have a pretty deep and expansive story quest line and plenty of side quests, they just haven't included them in the Alpha. When the game releases, you should be getting around 70% of your exp from doing quests and the rest is from grinding.
I think people are approaching this as an early access/almost complete game. They probably forgot to read the very first Reminder Window when you enter the game. LOL It says, this phase will test server stability, capacity and bug fixes (regarding glitches, hacks / exploits / server attacks). If you bought into this and expecting to play a game, then you are mistaken. Its why most of my guild mates did not buy any of these alpha keys. We're waiting for betas as that's where you *PLAY* the game.
There is a way to get a faster mount fairly early on. I forget which UA-camr it was but someone posted a quick 4 minute guide on how to get it. You go South of Lionhold to where the wolves are, look for the ones with a white nameplate and try to tame them. You'll either get a carcass or a wolf (seems like it's roughly a 10-20% chance to get the wolf) once you get the wolf you have to find a animal husbandry station and pay 50 silver to train it to become a mount. I haven't had 50 silver yet so I haven't actually finished my mount training myself yet.
After 8 hours you cant really tell how fast the combat will be in highlevel with better gear, more abilities and cooldownreduction. Its no actioncombat sure but i the combat shines in how responsice it is. Also the high level of custumisation is awsome. Im sure there will be fast and slow builds. Like in wow when youre playing ice mage or outlaw rogue for example.
They're holding the lore/story close to their sleeves atm, def not for this stage of alpha. As for gear, its by design that they only drop completed item like 2-4% of the time. They want most of the gear to come from crafting. At low level though you can just sell glint or gathered materials to NPCs and buy their stuff. You should have enough cash way before lvl 6 to get the copper weapon.
Thought the same. Similar to everquest, the group aspect is there. Solo is possible but difficult. Levels/con making a big impact in your ability to take down enemies. Combat and med times more in line with classic wow era. Thinking this will be really fun once polished.
In its current state there won't be much content at max level either. This phase is more about fixing bugs and stability. More content should start to come online during phase 2 starting in late December and then a bunch more in phase 3 in early May. I wouldn't expect it to even resemble a game until sometime during phase 3. This is why I'm not taking any time off to play until the first full week of phase 3.
Clearly really hard to review a game that's incomplete because obviously they will add more content and things like lore, additional starting areas, quest rewards and so on.. but it's totally fair to express that's the stuff you want. Just hilarious how no matter how many times they say "The first test is for stability" everyone's feedback will mostly be "where's muh content?" Again very fair, just funny. It was good enough when you said you played the game for 8 hours, I know the combat had to be enjoyable and that's a good signal that they nailed the fun in group play. Enjoyed the watch, look forward to your coverage of the game!
I'm the red bard named Magnificence in that vid. We weren't going to attack you but we could tell you guys were prepping so we went ahead and went first. The bard in this game feels extremely familiar to a DAoC bard in skills and gameplay. Some of your concerns will be addressed in the future like quests and such, just keep in mind it is a literal Alpha and the purpose for this phase was ironing out technical issues like servers, login problems, load bearing, etc. Cheers!
I'm not sure if anyone covered this but there was a bug last weekend where if you were killing things 3-4 levels higher than you no gear would drop due to something to do with reward table scaling. You really want to stick to mobs closer to your level for optimal XP and drop chance.
You have to kill goblins to get the first starter gear. If you sell enough Glint you can buy weapons and armor from vendor across river from the commissions guy. All i am missing right now is the chest piece armor for my fighter. Just kill goblins lol.
@@seussiii No you have to go out of the starter area down the hill and instead of going left to the buildings go right up the hill. You will run into darker colored goblins. I just believe there's nothing here to merit anything for the next decade or so, or a world so incredible it pulls you in. Also it's very smart to argue about the graphics while the game is focusing on Server Stability and testing the node systems etc. Alpha Versions are known for having the graphic assets from a fully released game later 🤡 Dude, I think modern gaming has shifted the term "ALPHA" for you. It's not an early access Alpha like you have in other games. It's a real Alpha, the developers are mentioning it every time, but people like you have issues to understand some information.

@@hangman5918 yeah im not sure who's paying yopu off buddy but you might wanna re read my comment as everything i said was a more than fair critique of a game in its alpha state. im not 11 ive been buying and "testing" games for quite some time, you also presented critique to what you think my comment was saying and then rebutted your own argument disproving your own point twice in your comments. not sure who you're trying to convince here me or you. the graphical state of the game in its alpha state (as you so eloquently reminded me several times) is going to remain entirely unchanged from its released product. the graphical theme of the game has already been well established by the time it has reached a playable alpha that you can BUY access to. if you think the game is going to drastically change and get its own unique and non generic art style by the time it launches you are simply huffing copium. lets move on to my next points. "this looks terrible and feels clunky" pretty sure thats subjective there princess. as in no body decides what i feel looks terrible or plays clunky BUT ME. not really sure where you were going with your shill comment but mine was personal opinion and remains unchanged by the fact the game is in alpha (which i and everyone else already knew) but lets touch on what the point of an alpha is huh lil guy? ill spare you the clown emoji as previously stated, im not 11. the point of an alpha is to test AND RECIEVE FEEDBACK. which the devs know and seeing as how they are adults im sure they can handle and even welcome a little constructive criticism, my views are not anomalous in nature they are shared by many testers ranging from die hard fans to professional haters. the ONLY thing in my comment that has a chance of changing from its alpha state to its full release is the general clunky nature of the entire game. meaning its movement, combat, questing, leveling, and all subsequent systems inbetween. they all feel bad. the map feels bad. the movement feels bad. the combat feels eh. the lore feels bad. the art feels generic. the dialogue is chat gpt levels of creative, the servers are bogged down. theres massive lag in pvp fights. the ui needs a LOT of work. and the greater majority of the quests literally do not work. why do we know this? because we TESTED an ALPHA and gave our FEEDBACK. im glad i could help you understand this extremely simple example of personal opinion. have a good day now.
