    I'm having the exact same problem with my 2015 XC60 T5. Ordered the new short cable/fuse from Volvo and either I'll install or let them do it. A note - in reference to the fuse bracket being installed not at the proper 90 degree angle by the repair shop, at 0:07 of your video you can see that your original bracket is bent upwards at about a 25 degree angle to allow proper clearance with the battery. At 3:03 you can see that the new cable/bracket installed by the repair shop is flat - no upward angle. That's why they had to bolt it down at an open angle and not at the correct 90 degree angle. At 4:28 we can see that with your re-working, the upward angle of the bracket is now at the correct approx 25 degree angle, allowing the bracket to be bolted in at the proper 90 degree angle. So - did you bend the bracket to the proper angle? You must have altered it to return it to its correct angle.

      Good observations! Yep, I ended up bending it to what it looked like originally

    The problem with workshops like that is because some mechanics just don't care and do a Fucq job.

      Lousy mechanic for sure. Ugly repair!

    I never saw a fuse with a 12 volt drop across it, UNLESS it was blown and OPEN! Should have been an easy fix!

    This is why I hate letting anyone touch my vehicles. Dealerships are notorious for this BS and charging full rates for 1/2 Azz BS butchering work 🏆🤡🏆

    I’m sorry this all happened to you. I wonder if it is time to go to a genuine Volvo dealer garage? I don’t mean to imply they are perfect or anything, but my experience with them has been good thus far.

      At the end of the day it's a used vehicle and it's bound to have some issues. Still love this thing! Regardless, I'm very disappointed in the shop I took it to and now that my Caravan warranty is up I'll be servicing it myself or taking it to my local Volvo dealer.

    The repair was not that bad. The splice was done per Volvo specs.(hopefully) The cable end should have been centered obviously. That should have been a recall.

      In the grand scheme of things not terrible. Still incredibly frustrating to get your vehicle returned with less hardware than it showed up with lol

    It happened to me twice, the first time was with the starter motor cable and a month later with the positive battery cable because this breaker is a fuse. I found that this happens after a few years due to heat and wear, it melts the tin and is common in lines with Ford DNA (Volvo, Evoque and Jaguar). The cable is on aliexpress for 10% of the value of Volvo resales. In an emergency, in order not to tow the car, break the circuit breaker and turn it on directly. As my new cable was going to take some time to arrive, an electrical service redid the soldering. Sorry for my English.

      You call it a breaker? I would call it a ONE TIME fuse!

    Hopefully you won't have any more trouble and shops like that should go out of business.

    Did you end up knowing why the xc60 stops when in idle? I was at a red stop light, and the car shit off on me and then restarted it again and everything worked fine. Was it an ECU boot up?

    • @WeakestofWeeks

      What year XC60? I think in 2017 they were equipped with start stop for better fuel economy.

      Hey, I have the same problem and it is driving me mad. When after a lengthy drive, slowing to a stop and engine stalls . Push in park and starts again. What was the solution for you?

  • @robertnew4568
    @robertnew4568 Місяць тому +1

    A fuse and circuit breaker are two separate thing and are completely different. Fuses cannot be RESET!

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  Місяць тому

      Technically speaking yes, they're 2 separate things. However, my dealership lists it as a fuse battery cable

    Sweet Jesus the engine battery is in a terrible location.

      Not the most convenient but not the worse I've dealt with. If I remember correctly some of the Chrysler vehicles and also Saturn Sky are in the wheel liner area. The engineers that designed those must have never replaced a battery before.
