Super Bowl Champion and 4x Olympic Gold medalist, who just happen to share the same last name, join The Pivot for our first ever couple to be on the show! That's right, Aaron Ross and Sonya Richards-Ross sit down with Ryan, Channing and Fred for a conversation filled with impactful moments of each's storied athletic career, highs and lows of their 19 year relationship and life now as parents finding their way into new passions.
Sanya courageously opens up about her personal struggles on way to chasing gold at Beijing and shares how difficult the decision of having an abortion 2 weeks before the Olympic Games was on her and now husband Aaron. In an emotional statement, Sanya explains how the moment never gets easier to talk about but how she was able to find peace in the situation and alleviate blaming herself after missing Gold in an event that was supposed to be a lock for her. Dealing with the aftermath took a toll, but Sanya shares how she found comfort in her relationship and grace in winning gold again.
Channing states how Sanya is the most successful athlete in the room and accomplished the most out of all of them and he raises the financial question if that was ever an issue in how little she made compared to her husband. Sanya and Aaron both laugh and say it was actually the opposite in college when Aaron called his then girlfriend his sugar mama!
Reminiscing about the first time meeting Sanya in college, Aaron tells the guys how watching his wife work so hard at her sport at an early age motivated him to want to be the best at his. The first round NFL pick went on to win two Super Bowls with the NY Giants and both credit each other with finding the ultimate success in their passions.
Aaron and Sanya discuss how becoming parents was a major transition in their lives as they both retired from their respective sports and adjusted to being together more and calling a new city home. Life with out football found Aaron in a two year rut where he can now look back and say he was in a depression but didn't know it while he was experiencing it. Currently, Sanya is part of the Real Housewives of Atlanta series that is airing now and the two talk about how they have embraced the show and found a way to become closer through it.

This was such a great episode. I love Sanya honestly and sharing her heart! The love between Aaron and Sanya since College until now just shows young black love can last! Channing is out of control hilarious which I love! Fred is so tame and keep things balance which is exciting. Ryan is the making sure everything stays in compliance but definitely have a lot of positive conversation about family which is needed. I think The Pivot is just great! You all Rock!!!

I love the chemistry of the pivot. can you imagine if this show is produced on a larger platform. channing was raw and the funniest he's ever been. I love the fact that it gave the ups and downs, the good and the bad about relationships. Not just a fantasy love story, but it showed how the Ross's made adjustments highs and lows and in the end they come together and agree everything is not perfect and I love the fact that they showed that. Too many people look at other people's relationships and they desire or want that other person's relationship because it looks perfect on the outside that is not the reality of it. I love this show!!!!

Great podcast. Sanya's Beijing story about how she felt God hugging her was truly uplifting and reminded me of my own experience with God when I wad 21 years old. I was in 3rd year university at the time and had just completed a very tough 2nd year in university in honors Physics and Astronomy at UBC in Vancouver Canada. I had a great 1st year academically, but not a very good 2nd year. I had basically lost my mojo for studying in second year and I did not realize how hard it was to get back after you fall down. Anyway, I was taking a very tough partial differential equations course in 3rd year and needed a good score on the midterm to regain my confidence. Of course I studied very hard and prepared the best I could. Then came exam day and I remember walking into the exam room 30 minutes earlier. I was really nervous. Then I closed my eyes and prayed from my heart. Moments later, I felt God's hands on both my shoulders as if to say "We got this."
At that moment, I felt composed and at peace. I ended up scoring a 90% on this midterm exam, which translated to an A+ and my confidence was restored.
Thanks again for your beautiful podcast. God Bless you all!

Great podcast. Sanya's Beijing story about how she felt God hugging her was truly uplifting and reminded me of my own experience with God when I was 21 years old. I was in 3rd year university at the time and had just completed a very tough 2nd year in university in honors Physics and Astronomy at UBC in Vancouver Canada.
In 2nd year, I made the mistake of getting into a relationship with a girl for all the wrong reasons. My university girlfriend was as fine as they come. She looked just like Janet Jackson. Little did I know that my shallow reasons for asking her out would cause me so much heartache and pain. As what often happens when we are in our twenties, we make mistakes. I saw this girl everyday and looking back, I think we spent way too much time together. Basically, my marks went down the toilet and I barely passed all my courses. The only silver lining was that it was only second year and I still had a chance to redeem my university career in years 3 and 4.
I basically had a great 1st year academically, but not a very good 2nd year.
I ended up getting a final grade of A+ in the differential equations course in third year and made the Dean's Honor List. Year 3 was my redemption year for sure.
I followed my third year with many more high grades in 4th year and graduated university with honors standing!
Looking back at my university experience, I do not have any regrets. With the exception of my second year, I poured my heart and soul into my studies and finishing up my degree, I know that I gave it everything I got.
Today, I am an entrepreneur and mentor young people to help them achieve their potentials. I tell them to stay away from smoking tobacco, vaping, drugs and alcohol and always give their 100% effort in anything they do in their lives. Of course, the emphasis of my mentoring is for them to bring their A game and excel at their studies, but I also encourage them to apply the same work ethic to every other aspect of their lives.
Thanks again for your beautiful podcast. God Bless you all!

Men have an equal say in the life and death of their unborn children. They cannot be removed from the process at any moment. A woman carries a man’s seed. Women don’t create life on our own. That’s a bad way to few fatherhood. Beautiful couple. Excellent episode. ✨✨✨
