@@1995texasaggie we still haven't had mediation. I'm very disappointed with my lawyer. I have so many issues with her quality of work on our case. She drags her feet and does not lead!
@@Brandiafinegirl62 Similar situation here. As soon as I "blew a gasket" and told my attorney that I was hiring counsel for a "second opinion" he kicked into gear and I have mediation scheduled. Mediation is going to be expen$ive for me. My attorney is $450/hour, the mediator is $300/hour, and the heir is asking the estate (basically me) to pay his legal fees. Attorneys will not give you a timeline, expectations (especially the possibilities of a rejection from the other parties) and they don't educate you on what's really happening. One can only assume that the longer the probate lasts, the more money the attorney squeezes.......and if there's a possibility for a court case, the dollar signs sparkle. My true intent of seeking a second opinion was to fire and replace my attorney.
@1995texasaggie good for you! I pray everything turns out on your behalf. The mediator my lawyer suggested was 4000 a day!! Over 25 years, she won a big majority of the cases, but that is highway robbery. I think my lawyer has just been milking my brother and I.
@@Brandiafinegirl62 Thank you! Once past the filing of Inventory and notice to Creditors, the attorney becomes the bottleneck even though they'll blame it on the probate court. If your Probate Court has a portal online, look up your ESTATE and you can see any and all legal activity. I had to do this to know what was taking place. I would call my attorney the next day since I was never informed of what was taking place. TRUST is everything....but I did not know my attorney this time last year. Become the squeaky wheel!
Thank you so much. My mind is more at ease.
Gayle, how did your mediation experience end up? I'm in mine very soon.
