I visited Norway a few years ago and fell in love with the breathtaking nature. And waffles, of course. I could not NOT eat them every day. I got a waffle maker for birthday and will try your recipe this weekend!
Nice! I hope you'll enjoy the waffles :D
Fantastic video! Now I need to buy a Norwegian-style waffle iron 😊 I love the "only eat with your hands" rule 😂😊💛
Thanks! Haha yes I felt like emphasizing the only hands rule, as it is very important:)
Liked that slap! I will never forget your essential tip on how to eat Norwegian waffles 😁👍
hehe, very important, so we thought it should be underlined with a slap :D (nobody got hurt during the filming) ;)
Yay for you to have a Canadian wife who puts maple syrup on waffles! Cheers from B.C. Canada.
hehe, I have to say it works really well! 👍😋
I’m so excited that I found this channel
Thanks :) Glad you found me
I so enjoyed Norwegian waffles. The family I stayed with would separate the hearts, so top each heart and curl it like a taco. Yum😋 such good memories.
That’s also a way to do it! :)
You're the best, Pal! I love waffles.
hehe thanks Bruce!
I was quite surprised when you eat 🧇 with ✋🏻... we used to eat with our hand multiple kinds of food...interesting to learn about other cultures 👌🏻💯😊
Greetings from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 🌴💐🧇
Yep always with your hands 👍 I’m glad to know you found the episode interesting! Thanks for watching

It looks delicious 👌

Great video, I need to try them someday!
Thanks! You should :)
Merveilleux
Pål, great timing on this video! I'll be in Norway in 2 weeks and waffles are something my friends have said they'll be making for me! I'm also Canadian, so I appreciate the maple syrup option too 😂
That’s great to hear! Make sure to try it out several places, as recipes and flavor can differ a bit . Enjoy 🇳🇴🇨🇦👍
Haha, really well presented Pål 👏🏻 Easy one of my favourite snack here in Norway, but I actually prefer less jam and Jarlsberg on mine 😆🇳🇴 You know what the most typical Norwegian thing to do is? What goes beyond anything else? Å kose seg ☺🔥
Thanks Thomas! Vaffelkos :) I would have to try out Jarlsberg on the waffle some day
Try Brunost - brown cheese. :)
I enjoy your videos
Thanks!
It look delicious😋😋
It sure is 😋
Hi Can you make a video for camping in Oslo. I don’t know about area’s. Tusen takk
Hi there! I’ll see if I can find some time for that :)
@@norwaywithpal thank you so much pal 😊
👍
As someone who has been to Norway 50+ times in my life (I am American), I have yet to have had a crispy Norwegian waffle. Maybe it's jus a regional thing, but waffles in Rogaland are more on the soft side. Regardless, great video Pål!
I think it’s more of a personal preference. However, If one buys them at a cafe they are often soft because they are not fresh out of the iron and also been stacked up on top of each other. I had a soft one yesterday at a café, and it was pretty good I have to admit :)
@@norwaywithpal At a cafe or at a sporting event. I love how they sell waffles at kids sports tournaments. It's a good, quick snack!
Thanks!
Tusen Takk Jessica :)
Sa bra!!!
🎉🎉
Greetings from California!
Your waffles are about the same thickness is waffles here in the States, and they look great!
I could easily see wrapping up three or four of those with brunost to take along on a hike 👍
Why is it necessary to let the batter sit for 10-15 minutes?
I always make my waffle batter from scratch, but never wait.
Also, one tip I would like to share - but maybe you do this anyway, just not for the video… mix all the dry ingredients together, sifted.
Blend all the liquid ingredients in their own bowl. Then combine the two. You will greatly reduce the mixing time and annoying lumps and flavor spikes.
Thanks again for your advice! I let the batter sit so that it thickens. I find it gives the waffles a bit more dense texture. Which I like :)
👍...
..but that's not the way you make Norwegian waffles 😊 The way Pål does it, is the right way to make them. I think this is why Norwegian waffles has another texture than the ones you get in the states. We let the batter swell for about15-30 minutes. We let it swell to allow the ingredients to mix well and for the flour to bind to the liquid.
@@fersken1 Okay, that is interesting! I think I should try Pål’s method just for fun. I understand the time difference will cause an effect, so maybe I will see a big difference:)
Yum
Well done looks yummy my friend
Great channel see you again cheers
Thanks a lot :)
👍,,,
Mmmm...I really need those in my stomach.
Nice well done video, by the way!
You never stop surprising me, saps?
Thanks a lot! saps?
Pal, love your videos! We plan to visit Norway in 2024. We will look you up for some tour guidance ! We also have a great Norwegian boat. It is a Tresfjord 28. I believe it may be the only one in the US. We live on Camano Island in the great Pacific Northwest
Hi Bradley! Thanks for watching my videos :)
The Tresfjord 28 is a really nice boat 👍
Very nice video, though you did make me hungry! I laughed when you were offered the knife and fork! 😂😂 My favorite way to eat vaffel is with gjetøst! There use to be a place in Oslo that some man started selling vaffel outside his home window. But by the time I visited, he moved over to a place close to Oslo do Kirk and me and my wife must have spent around 1000kr just trying all the different toppings! 😋😆
hehe thanks for watching the episode, and if you became hungry it means I succeeded ;)
You are referring to "Haralds Vaffel", he used to be nearby the domkirke, but moved into a new spot at Grünerløkka a few years back. I think he is doing pretty good! Def best waffles in Oslo.
@@norwaywithpal Perfect! My wife’s mor mor was from Grünnerløkke and is one of her first stops when visiting Oslo. So we will definitely add it to our list of places to go.
But your vaffel looks absolutely delicious and we will be making some this weekend thanks to you.
@@thelostone6981 Great! Enjoy the waffles :D

Love these waffles! A favorite wherever we traveled in Norway. The recipe link doesn't work for me; drats! Is there another way to find it?
(Married to a Norwegian-American. Love his family!)
Hi there, thanks for watching the episode! Sorry the link does not work. It works for me now... I'm currently building a new website though, so there is some instability. The new website where you'll find this article for sure will be done in late January!

De er det samme som tyske vaffler men vi bare spiser dem med melis eller kirsebær og fløte 😊
Aha artig å vite :)
now is a good chance to ask that grammar question ive been meaning to.
"å dra til" and "å gå til" both mean "to go to", but we don't know when to use which in what context. are they both interchangeable, or should they be used differently in different scenarios?
Hi there, as a general rule think of "gå" as to walk. So whenver you are walking some place you can use "gå". Gå på butikken, go to the store. But you won't say "gå til Spania" go/walk to Spain. Then you'd say "dra til Spania". I hope that made some sense?
@@norwaywithpal thanks!
Great video! 🎉 I’m definitely going to try that recipe - had no idea norsk vafler had so much butter! I guess that’s why they’re so good. 😋 The fork/knife bit made me laugh. 😂 Have to remember to eat smørbrød with fork/knife but not vafler! 😅
Tusen Takk! In my experience the butter makes them crisper and darker. Just they way I like them :) My grandmother always said that such waffles give a good singing voice 😂
How are Norwegian and Swedish waffles different or are they the same?
Norwegian waffles are of course much better ;)
I wish you could email me that plate of Norwegian waffles with lingonberries 😊
hehe if I could I would
Waffles with Lingonberry is very Swedish. 😊
How do you stay so thin bro?
I dont own a car ;) lol
Where is the recipe?

Pål skuffer aldri
Ailem için bu makineden almalıyım.
Ja du finner den i alle norske hjem!
Alt for mye smør..
Jeg syntes det var for lite 😅
Guess you can't eat waffles like you normally do with maple syrup. Your hands will be dripping wet and sticky.
We had some waffles with maple syrup yesterday, just can't add too much so it drips
Or maybe someone is watching how much maple syrup you use.
@@rachelpare3780 haha yes there is ;)
