The ridding of Newton Rings for Daystar Quark can be resolved by tilting using this Interference Eliminator: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1265478-REG/daystar_filters_mg0408_interference_eliminator_t_mount.html

Hi,André fron holland. i order a coronado pst for visual. (maby later i would upgrade to a lunt 60 tilt if it is worth). do you recommanded to buy desicant cap and sillica gel to protect the blocking filter and other parts of the scope agains rust? Thanks for the tips!!!

What was the website that has the focus aid for solar imaging? I tried to look it up but couldnt find it.

In terms of visual use, I've spoken with a couple of users of the 40mm PST, and they tell me that the maximum magnification possible with these is only about 30-35x - that's it. Does the maximum possible magnification increase with 60mm or larger H-alpha scopes, or with using the Daystar system on a larger scope? Because 30-35x just isn't going to do it for me when I've spent $400-500, and spending $1000 or more to get, say, 60x or 80x is just out of my league.
In my experiences observing the sun in white light, I've found that the sun creates its own bad seeing - that the fact that the sun is shining and pouring down heat is going to cause turbulence in the atmosphere, and is unavoidable. Is this why is the magnification so limited?

Jon Groubert Hi, i have order a PST and a 50 dollar planetery 7.2-21.5 zoom. When the seeing conditions was good, i could zoom in all the way in and the views of the proms was still amasing . For surface detail i think its more or less the same thing ( i Will test it later.)And i think 12 mm is more than anough manification to study the actieve areas. When the seeing is not so good i use 21.5 mm at the zoom and can see the surfice grandulation.i think ( just have the pst) its a perfect scope for a beginner!

Commercial H-alpha solar telescopes are very expensive for very small apertures. I regularly use up to 85x or more in H-alpha and up to 220x in white light. I use home made telescopes. A 150mm in H-alpha and a 180mm for white light. Using the CORRECT SOLAR FILTRATION is essential to avoid INSTANT BLINDNESS!!
