😭😭saturday is the longest, most busiest day at my work . Thank you for making my Sat. E day something fun for the last year. LOVE YOU GUYSS
Since its the last episode, I wish it was live so we could shower them with how much we appreciated our Saturdays with them.
I don’t watch AEW, but every Saturday the SmackDown episode has been a part of my routine! Wish it wasn’t changing. These two have the best chemistry out of them all!
100%, I have zero interest in collision and this was my standard Sunday morning

Sat always added a special something intangible to weekend videos
I agree with Tempest on his rant about Roman. With the exception of IYO SKY (who doesn't have a match at the Royal Rumble), SmackDown has no full time champion. I've tried to defend and justify the Rhodes WM 39 loss, but seeing the way things have panned out it makes the decision so much worse.
What is there to fight for on SmackDown? Roman is beyond part-time and has constant help from Jimmy and Solo, Logan is having his first US Title defence since winning at Crown Jewel, IYO only defends on non PLEs and both men and women's tag titles are on Raw.
Now you factor in that The Rock is just gonna waltz his way into a title match, like come on now.
Sat-e-days were my favorite WrestleTalk show, gonna miss it a lot.
You got to think, that’s not a smart decision to combine two episodes of two different companies. I hope they succeed with the plan, but it sounds it’s going to be a mess

I'm sad that this is the last Saturday podcast with Sat and Tempest. I've used it to listen to while at work on Saturday mornings. Have loved their chemistry. Hope that they continue to be on other shows together in the future.
On the Roman title reign; I've thought pretty much the same way since Mania last year. I said then, and feel the same way still, that there is a difference between long-term storytelling, and stories that never end. If the title reign ended at Mania with a Cody win and then branched off into the downward spiral of Roman, that would be long-term storytelling, but at this point this definitely falls into the latter category. It really does feel like when WCW tried to stretch out the NWO storyline instead of ending it at the logical conclusion point of Starrcade 97.
I'm sorry that they're switching the format. I've always enjoyed the chemistry between the two of you, and have agreed with a good amount of your opinions and commentary. I'll still support the Wrestletalk Podcast, but I'm curious... what's causing all this???
Not enough Saturday viewers to sustain an extra day
Tempest, your rant is nothing but truth. Another thing I hate about this reign is that the longer it goes, the more WWE gaslights people into thinking historic is a good thing in a written sport, the more people like Oli and so many others begin to think that Cody losing AGAIN is a good idea. It's beyond frustrating.
Sat & Tempest's bromance have made my Saturdays better every time they are on screen together. I'm gonna miss em on my screens each week.
Damn, Tempest has been holding that in since last April, I bet. He's had enough, and I can't say I blame him. Its gotten kind of ridiculous.
And it's crazy people are saying this man needs to hold the title until September to beat Hogan's reign.

Tempest hit it clean on his view on Smackdown. I literally come here every Sat-E-day just to listen to this podcast because I haven’t watched Smackdown religiously in like a year. I watch Raw every Monday. Raw has been way better in every aspect. Smackdown has been hit or miss.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH TEMPEST he took the words right out of my mouth Tempest said everything I would've said. WWE has wrote/booked themselves into a corner, a huge dilemma in having to place the WWE Championship on Cody because they didn't finish the story last year at Wrestlemania when they should have now not only does WWE have to do that at WM 40 they have to book The Rock vs Roman Reigns neither match works on Elimination Chamber or BackLash Roman will have to perform of both nights in order for any of this to make sense Roman retaining wouldn't make sense Roman dropping the title to Rock wouldn't make sense either. Paul will have to come up with a Genius Idea in within 2- 3 months. Roman doesn't need to beat Hogans reign!
WWE is so hard on hulk title run. The real point is hulk Hogan will always be the man who put wrestling on map made it mainstream something Roman Steve Austin HHH undertaker,,john Cena ,the Rock even Vince McMahon none them can ever say that claim ever hulk Hogan is the man and made wrestling what it is and I don't like hulk but facts

Sad to see you two go for now, loved you two on Saturdays. Everything you’re saying is fact. I think what caused this championship run to fizzle out is everyone was deeply invested in Sammy, then Jay, then peaked for Cody -now we just don’t care. And when your champ is never around you can’t build another investable story. At this point I’m more into Seth/Punk then anything Reigns can do at this point. 🤷🏽♂️

Preach Tempest!! I've been feeling the same since Mania and agree with everything. That title means nothing right now and the Roman character is not working anymore. But this is a Sad E Day for sure what a great final Smackdown review 😢

Aldis saying you forfeit the belt if you dont sign, was the highlight for me, liked segment a lot other than AJ's beef w LA.
The problem is they are trying to book Roman like 2007 Cena & 2011 Undertaker. They want him to be the Top attraction and the top champion. Which unfortunately you can’t do successfully if you want him to be a part time attraction to always pull out a decent story like Taker from 2010-2020 book him like that, if you want him to be top champion of the company do it. But they really need to stop trying to do both with Reigns. I like this character and Reigns performance in 60% of this run, but since April 2023 it has been atrocious. At least HHHs reign of terror had him on TV weekly and sometimes on both shows.
WWE doesn't want roman to be a part timer. It's Roman who wants that

The highest-rated segments of the year all involved Roman and Roman only. I’m annoying of the bullshit saying “oh, Sami carried!” or “oh, Jey carried!”. Nope, Roman is the star attraction; Roman is the guy and Cody would’ve never achieved that level of greatness if he won at WrestleMania 39.
Say what you want about Cenas long title reigns, at least he was there for all of them.

I truly agree with just about every word of that Roman rant. It won't happen overnight, and it won't be every time, but I can't remember the last time there was a decent/basic world title defense, as in not big 4 level, where you had a non-0% chance of a new champ. Less egregious, but we might be starting to get there with Rhea and Iyo as well. Long reigns are "prestigious," but they can also be boring.
Nick Aldis v. The Bloodline seems to be the story on Smackdown.

Yeah, based on that report about them wanting to to Randy vs Roman at a later date, it's more got me thinking Oli was right and Roman will be keeping his title past WrestleMania.
Gonna miss the Saturday Smackdown podcast, but the Monday combo will make it better. Plus, if it works well, I'll be waiting for the TNA/ROH Friday podcast! Lol
Having a combined Smackdown and Collision cast is a bad idea. You all could have tried changing it back to a live for ultrachats (unless Sat or Tempest cant do that for some reason) for the money, but i guess I'll suffer through having to wait until tuesday for news given i cant usually warch the podcast and listen on Spotify at work.
I really like Nick as the GM. It's refreshing to have an authority figure who doesn't roll over all the time, especially to Roman

I agree 100 percent. Cody should have won the belt. I also feel like LA Knight should be feuding with Logan Paul for the US belt.
Bloodline story has no real story. Roman never addressed Jimmy turning on him, Jimmy turning on Jey was so random, if anybody in the bloodline lost a match last year Roman would be annoyed now Solo and Jimmy are beat nearly every match and nothing is said. Its like they are not even trying anymore.
It's a sad day. I hope whatever they put on in place of both Saturday's news and the smackdown review does well. But they have a high bar to pass. Sat and Tempest's news and review podcast has been my Saturday morning ritual since they came together.
House of the black mask has been awesome. I loved the positivity, critiques, rants, and especially the humor. House of the black mask news and reviews have been the bright spot of my Saturdays.

I have to say, I love all of WrestleTalk weekly podcast but the Smackdown ones are my ABSOLUTE favorite because of you two!! I will definitely miss this 😢.
And it's liitle weird to have both Collision and Smackdown on the same podcast. Wouldn't make more sense to merge Collision with the Dynamite review? Specially because a lot of people don't watch AEW and WWE.

I 100% agree with tempest’s rant. At the time I was okay with Cody losing, but that’s because I was getting back into wrestling at that time and didn’t know how bad things would get with Roman’s schedule. Well said you great Canadian 🇨🇦

i always listen to the audio version only and when i heard tempest rant, i had come watch the video lol
This is what I think should happen between now and Mania:
- Randy beats Roman for the title at some point between now and Maina
- Cody wins at chamber to face Randy at mania and finishes the story against his ex-evolution teammate
- Roman loses to Rock at Mania and goes away for a while
- Punk wins the rumble and faces Drew who wins the vacated heavyweight title at Chamber
Roman Reigns should not be losing the title before WrestleMania, and he should not be losing to a transitional champion. He should lose the title on the biggest stage to the next face of the company. So he should be losing to the title to Cody at Wrestlemania
I'm really going to miss The House of the Black Mask..... This was my highlight of every Saturday, now what will I do?.... 😢

Tempest is 1000% right and I feel like a lot of people have felt the same way for a loooooong time. I know I have.
I think there have been a few really good smackdowns but that's because damage control and not the blood line. Damage control in the build to war games was excellent and they kind of f***** it up at war games. But you know we're not gonna talk about that.
I totally understand your guys' frustration. However, I still want roman to beat bruno's record. Anyway, sad to see this show end. Gonna miss Sat's energy.
Being gone for such long periods of time doesn't make Roman look powerful or special.... it just makes him look lazy
There's nothing wrong with limiting his title defenses to ppvs, but Roman needs to be on TV regularly.
I can't tell for sure but I think Tempest is a little annoyed at Roman's title reign.
Finish the story Sat. The whole of last year was about Finish the story
Also, as far as long reigns, to quote Paul Heyman, were only in "the bottom of the third." We're still over a year from Roman passing Pedro Morales' 1027 day reign. "What? He's been champ for over 1200 days!" Yeah, *Universal* champ. The title that only had 14 separate reigns and the second longest reign Roman has already beaten twice over. As far as the WWE Championship, he only beat Brock for that 656 days ago.

Honestly…. Smackdown moving to Monday reviews since more ppv’s happen on Saturday now more than ever makes sense.
Makes Saturday reviews with ppvs whenever the new live events wrestle talk does happen harder to do, and everyone wants collision reviews again, I respect it.
Today is indeed sad e days, but but now we can get jamacian and say Sat mon day!…. If sat does mondays.

I hope this show does well on Monday, considering that there are other podcasts covering Smackdown on Friday night and covering Collision on Saturday night and Sunday (Rampage just gets ZERO love). Speaking of Rampage, it's the best wrestling matches on Friday night. If you say no, you're lying to yourself and need therapy. Randy Orton vs Solo was a good match. Darby Allyn vs Jeff Hardy was an amazing, fantastic match. Or compare the LWO vs Legado match with the Penta vs Anthony Henry (a mid-card jobber). Sadly, the LWO are jobbers again, but Anthony Henry is a LEGIT jobber, and yet his match with Penta was 🔥!
Anyhow, Smackdown was overall okay because of the excellent segments. Agree with podcast on all their observations.

I love Aldis as as GM so far.
WWE has botched Alba and Isla so much. They have not made one good decision with these two since their call up, not one.
Beating Cena has done nothing for Solo so far.
