Thanks Dave! Looking at garmin forerunners to just get started on running and Ive decided to go for the 945. Super helpful video!
Awesome! Love the 945!
945 sounds good.
Totally agree with everything you’ve noted here, Dave. Thanks for another great video. I bought the 945 recently on sale here in Australia (saved $150 dollaridoos) and couldn’t be happier. I’ve been running the beta firmware for the improved recovery and suggested training workouts, and LOVE it!! Starting to call it Coach Garmin...
Ha! Coach Garmin! Enjoy it!
Dollaridooos😂😂
I'll comment for the algorithms too! Your reviews are outstanding. Keep it up. Just as good as desfit and dc if not better.
Haha, thank you! Those guys are incredible and it's quite a compliment!
Extremely well-done, as usual. I like your style, your videos are really rich in practical detail. There's very little of you in them.
Thank you!
Thank you so much, Dave! These two models are the ones I´m considering as an upgrade from my four year old 235! I do care about battery life a lot cause I wear my 235 all day and night until it needs a recharge (typically after around 4 days of usage). 500 USD are still a huge amount of money for me personally. I´d prefer these watches costing 300 or less (my 235 cost me $180 back in Dec 2015 on Amazon sale).
If you're primarily a runner and open to switching brands the Coros Pace 2 is pretty amazing for $200 bucks and will give you weeks of battery life. Thanks for watching!
Commenting for the UA-cam algorithm. Great video Dave
Thanks!
Got the 945 and sticking with it, thanks great video!
Good choice!
Great video, Dave.
1. Maps are more important for me than music only
2. I prefer bigger watches (not as big as Fenix but bigger)
3. I prefer more battery
Even the bezel could not stop me getting a FR945 bundle about 2 weeks ago. (the price wasn't identical but still a great deal)
Totally agree! Thanks for watching!
Another great video. I thought I knew all the differences, but the recovery thing was new to me. Thanks :)
Ha! That one is tough to find. Thanks for watching.
Great video Dave! Really enjoy your videos. Definitely agree the 945 is the ticket here although I just went with a Coros Vertix. Regardless, keep up the great content. Look forward to seeing what comes next!
Nice! The Vertix is a tank. How do you like it?
No idea how I came across this video...probably the algorithm thing. Good video! Appreciate the comparison between these watches.
Glad you made it either way! Thanks for watching!
I'm glad to see it's not just my Garmin that seems to be perpetually unimpressed with my training
Haha! Mines probably right because I’m currently nursing an injury 👎
Thanks for this video. !!... I bought the 745 even when I was aware of the discount price .... I hated the big size of 945 which has the same display size.... other features in the 945 not important for me that's why I decided to go with the 745...
Sounds like the 745 is the right choice for you! Form factor plays a big role in making a decision. You need to enjoy wearing it if you want to wear it every day! Thanks for watching and enjoy!
Yea I felt that the additional features for the 945 aren't beneficial to me as I generally focus on cycling, running, swimming, and lifting weights
I've watched a few of your videos to help decide which watch to buy. Great videos and I appreciate the insight.
Thanks for watching!
Great Review - You Rock! I really appreciate this and am going to get the 945 for my ultra-run training. Be Great. Thanks.
Thanks Dave! This video actually sealed the deal for the 945 for me. Especially given the software update that is coming up.
For sure! I love that Garmin continues to add features to the 945.
@@ChaseTheSummit indeed! And, may I ask - in your opinion, which series gets software updates first - the Fenix, the 9xx or the 7xx?
@@rado78231 Fenix seems to get updates the fastest and most often. The 945 get's a lot of "beta" updates but they seem to release official updates on a yearly cadence.
@@ChaseTheSummit got it! Thank you for the prompt reply! Now, however, I shall forgo my 945 decision and start pondering if I need two kidneys. I mean the Fenix 6x is a bit more expensive than the 945. 😉
You’re married? You poor bastard haha
Great video and having a 945 I totally agree with all the mentionned plus of this watch. Regarding the features "Track Run" and "Work out suggestion" they have been added by Garmin via a software update a few weeks ago (early November) at least in Europe.
Yes! I received that update as well. Still no updated sleep tracking unfortunately! Thanks for watching .
Man your video quality is insane. Just looked up your camera gear and it makes sense, damn nice video skills to go with it. Oh ya and I’m going with the 945.
Thanks!
great video! Really clear and straight to the point! well done!
Thanks!
Commenting For the Algorithm, thanks for the content. Really like your reviews!
Thank you!
Greetings from Australia. Terrific video - very useful. THANK YOU!
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome job man. And check out the new funk-meister background music! Reviewing/comparing these two for CrossFit later this week too.
Nice! Looking forward to it!
Great review, Short and to the point.. Thanks
Glad you liked it
I love your channel 👍
I own the FR945 and I'm happy with it.
I love the Coros Apex Pro too... Very good watch !
Greetings from Paris✌
Tanks for watching!
Which one better FR945 or Coros Apex Pro
@@palat78 You can do more things with the 945.
I often use the map.
Thanks, great comparison!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great videos keep up the great work you should do more live streams love the channel
More live streams are in the works! I've got some exciting guests lined up. Thanks for watching!
@@ChaseTheSummit can’t wait 😁 have a great day
Nice content.
I have the 245. I love it. Besides battery life I don't see the major difference between the 245 and the more expensive Garmins.
The major difference is having the multi-sport modes and additional sensors. But if you're primarily a runner you probably wouldn't notice! The 245 is a solid device! Thanks for watching.
Great analysis, you're right
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Dave, i just both my first Garmin watch 945 PRO BUNDLE for 540USD here in Czech republic. You navigate me into this great watches, thanks for that! (I decided between garmin 945 and coros apex pro - in the end garmin 945 win choice, thanks to their navigation system, which I missed in coros apex pro)
Nice! Yeah I still love my 945 and wear it daily. Great watch!
Thank you for this video! ❤️❤️
Just got my 745 because it’s not too big on a woman’s wrist. The other features of 945 are not necessary for me. I just do some workouts, bodyweight and running (a lot) in the park.
745 costs around $570 in Thailand while 945 price has been reduced to ~$600.
I had a discount code for $65, so I could buy 745 for $505. I think that’s enough for me. 💕💕
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying it.
Loser
@@chainsawteddybear lol 😂 not nice to say
nice lighting work. Impressive
Thank you! Cheers!
Great comparison thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the review.
My pleasure!
Yeah, crazy pricing for that 945 and I bet it'll also be low again for Black Friday. I also noticed that slight improvement in GPS accuracy. No idea why. Completely agree with your conclusion. I really think people will be buying the 745 strictly for the size. 'Aerodynamic wrists' like my own but I don't mind the size of the 945. Great video!
Seems like it's all about the form factor! Thanks for watching Matt!
The reason I've heard is that the 745 has the newer Sony chipset revision.
I've seen 945 consistently below $600 for a long time on Amazon, but only from other sellers on Amazon and not sure if warranty still works if its not from authorized Garmin reseller.
thanks so much I have been debating!
Hope it was helpful!
Thanks for this helpful informative vid! I knew nothing about smartwatches, but this taught a lot! But also left me with questions. Like why so many numbers? With GoPros, it's straightforward: the GoPro 10 is obviously better, newer, and likely more expensive than the GoPro3. Straightforward and simple. But with Garmin, the model numbers are in the hundreds, and as this video said, the 745 has advantages the 945 lacks. So confusing! idk where to even start narrowing down just which Garmin watch to get.
Same with me, i will go with fr945. Good battery life and have Topomaps.
Nice!
Spot on with the conclusion, I ended up with the 745 for my dinky wrists after trying to live with the 945. The lugs especially on the 945 really do make it feel like a much bigger watch! That said both fantastic watches
Form factor is everything! Thanks for watching.
I prefer 745 too. Fit nicely and feel light on the move
Thank you so much!)
Thanks for watching !
In Brazil all prices are too high, now I get a new 745 tô replace my 735xt. The price of the 945 bundle and the 745 plus hrm pro are very close, but Imy experience with 735xt in a 400m athletic track are so good, that I don't considered to lost this. I tried another devices, like a martwatchs and several smartphones and the difference is too big. In a 10km running, 1km for warm up, and 20x400m plus 1km for finish, I getting 10% in track size, this is a big difference, running in streets and parks de difference is between 1-3%, depends more how many clouds are in the sky. I really appreciate your video, you placed differences very clear in a short video.
Thanks for sharing!
I've had the 945 for about 18 months now and it's pretty much perfect!! The mapping feature has gotten me out of trouble numerous times on new trails. Do you have a link to the watch face you had on the 945 in the video thumbnail?
The watchface comes preinstalled on the 945 👍
Jesus Christ your Base level pace is fast lol!!!
BTW you mentioned in a previous video ideas for upcoming features. You may have already done this but perhaps a training format/schedule for ultra newbies or pitfalls to avoid type of thing?
Anyway keep up the good work!
Great idea, thanks for watching!
I'm a year late but this makes me feel better about buying a 745. Some videos I watched basically said, "the 945 is the same price with more features!" Very new to smart watches and didn't do much research; just wanted a watch that does interval timing and lets me use my Suica, which both of these do. The 945 without RD is $200 more than a 745 with RD here in Japan so that was a deciding factor 🤣 Of course I could have purchased it cheaper overseas but I'm impatient and lazy. So I'm glad hear the 745 performs better in some regards! Also I have small wrists and the 745 already feels quite large. I think if I ever wanted mapping (hiking and camping are in the cards far down the line), I'd probably opt for a fenix anyway; I like the look of those quite a bit.
(It doesn't help Garmin's site introduces the 945 as: "You're an up-at-dawn runner. A conditioned-for-pain triathlete." I thought, "Nope, that ain't me.")
Sounds like you got the right tool for the right job!
Hey Dave, im hesitating between the 945 and Fenix 6s Pro. I found both watches used, the 945 being 100$ cheaper. I do mostly xc skiing, running and biking. The bezel to bezel screen on the 6s seems more interesting but I am not sure it is worth the extra 100$... Thanks for the great video !
I think another key feature 'Virtual Run' in the 945 is not available in the 745. It gave the watch ability to direct link to Zwift Running. Important for me because I run in the TM too. So far only the 945 and 245 have this. I'm sold on the 945 and will be buying it now. Yes, it is still available for US$500. Tqsm for the video.
The Virtual Run feature is actually available on the 745. You can find a list of compatible devices here: support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=pyniXQfLiu3BS1yKFlLn36
Awesome review man. I'm torn between buying 745 and Coros Apex Pro. My weekly activities are mostly running (road, sometimes trail) but I'm planning to join triathlon soon. Thoughts on this please
Apex Pro and 745 are totally different devices in my mind. The 745 will give you better Smartwatch features, better sleep tracking, and more powerful training tools. The Apex Pro is a rock solid reliable GPS tracker with crazy battery life, but lacks a bit in the smartwatch and training department. Hope that helps!
Cool review!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Dave, thanks a lot for these great reviews. I was wondering, if all these training features that are related to heartrate, VO2 max, recovery etc. are also available when you are recording cycling data, or just when selecting the running option? Cycling is my main sport; however, there seems to be a lack of hardware where you can track these kind of things, unless you are buying a runner watch.
Yes it's available for Cycling and Running individually but your rides will need to take place outside with GPS enabled for it to work. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit That does help. I have a headunit for my bike from Wahoo, so I get all the necessary stats from there. But what is missing are all the details you can get from your body....besides the pulse, obviously. Or is there a pulse sensor available that does everything the watch can do? Are you aware of anything? That would be best, these data could be transmitted to the headunit and I wouldn't have to use a heartrate monitor around the chest + the watch + the headunit.
When I bought my 745 the 945 was on sale for only $515. The smaller form factor was my major deciding factor. I’ve never had a need for mapping and finding two times a week to charge isn’t that hard.
For sure, like I said the main advantage of the 745 is the smaller footprint and thinner bezels. For "every day wear" I like the 745 a lot more. It looks more modern. Thanks for watching!
Just found a used 945 for $299
Interesting. Sometimes the older models discounted are better than the new models at full price. I think the same is true for, say, the Vivoactive 3 which can be found at $149 these days. Compares well to the newer entry level Garmins.
True! My wife actually still wears a Vivo 3 but recently just moved the the older Fenix 5S Plus because it was a great deal on sale. Thanks for watching!
Weird that GPS readings would be different since they both use GPS, GLONASS, & Galileo? Good video!👍
Yeah, I think it's something to do with the antenna design of the newer 745 but I could be wrong.
Thanks for the great video.
Would you still recommend the 945 if you want the topo maps? Or is there any other good Option on the market with a similar price? Is the 945 still up to date and gets updates for long time? I don't want a watch and don't get new updates after a few years of this invest.
Garmin's the only one in the game really doing full blown topo routeable maps on the watch. The Fenix 5X, 5 Plus, 6, and 945 are the options. The Suunto 7 does have the ability to store maps on the watch but they're not routeable or as full featured. The Apple Watch Series 6 is also an option if you can find an app that uses offline maps like Gaia GPS. Hope that helps!
Hey Dave, on the subject of watch faces, I’m a little short sighted, and also like a lot of bang for my bucks, so in your opinion which watch that you’ve used has the most actual screen size, as opposed to large bezel but small display. It really matters to me and I would value your opinion.
They have the exact same screen size at 1.2” . Functionally identical and the same resolution. Hope that helps!
I agree - but sort of don't. You're right that you get more for your money with the 945, but that's only important if you actually use the extra functionality. Most of the people I know who own one NEVER use the map function and never need more than 16hrs batter life with GPS. So if that's the case it comes down to how it looks and wears on your wrist. Unless you have very large wrists, the 745 is a much better fit for most people. If you intend on wearing it all day, every day, I'd say that's the most important factor.
For sure. The right tool for the right job. I guess my point is if they're the same price and you don't particularly care about the size of the watch the 945 seems like a no-brainer. Thanks for watching!
Awesome thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, loving the content as a recent subscriber. Quick question - is there any advantage to the 745 compared to the 945 apart from size? At the moment I can get a 945 for £5 for than the 745 I was about to buy... Also, is the 955 just around the corner, hence all the 945 sales?
The only advantage is essentially the smaller footprint and slightly lighter weight. The exclusive 745 features are slated to roll out to the 945 soon and are already available in a beta update. So I'd say go for the 945! As far as the 955 or whatever it will be called goes... I'd assume it's coming soon. But have no real information about it. Hopefully we see something soon!
Wouldn’t you expect this to be the last major feature update to the 945 though? Once the 955 comes out early next year, the 945 will be feature frozen, while more goodies should roll into the 745 for another two years.
Hi man! Nice video, well explained. Do you know what is the watch face you're using on the 745?
It's just the stock watch face that comes on the watch.
I have the old garmin Fenix 5x and I’m not sure whether or not I should upgrade yet. I love the training load focus and the at a glance widgets on the new watches, but I’m not sure if that justifies $500. Shame Garmin doesn’t support older models :/
Garmin supports older models for a pretty long time. But they won't release new features to anything older than 1 or 2 years. For instance, the 945 just got a bunch of features from the Fenix 6 in the 5.0 update and it's slated to get some of the 745's new features. That watch launched in early 2019! For older watches like your 5X you'll receive updates to keep it working with Garmin Connect but it won't get any new features. This could be a hardware limitation but it's more likely because Garmin wants to sell newer units. Thanks for watching.
I've had my 745 for two weeks now. I charge it when I shower wich is daily. No problems with a short batterylife in other words. Other than that I really like the watch.
That's good to hear! Enjoy!
You shower daily???
@@josephredding5366 you not?
I was a bit nervous when I picked up the 745, particularly about the battery. Ultimately I did the 745 for the form factor, and think the bezels look bad on the 945. I think there are 2 things that I’ve found in my investigation worth mentioning. 1. Garmin apparently changed the way they advertise gps battery, so the difference isn’t as substantial between the two (945 was overestimated). 2. The 745 has received updates which may have helped with standby battery because I’ve been easily getting 7-8 days with around 1-2 hours of mixed tri training
I'm not sure if Garmin has changed their battery rating but I've gotten 25+ hours of GPS activity out of the 945 without a recharge and usually around 10 days to 2 weeks of standby time. Currently owning both I can say without question that the 945 has around 50% more battery life than the 745. Like you said though, if the form factor or looks of the 945 isn't your style and you don't NEED to record exceedingly long single activities the 745 is still a great watch. Lately I've been wearing the 745 daily because I enjoy the form and haven't been running super long distances but if I head the mountains or plan on a long run I'll always reach for the 945 or Fenix 6. Thanks for watching!
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks for the reply! I’ve tried (thanks to REIs great return policy) the Fenix 6 pro solar, the 945, and now the 745. Definitely agree that the Fenix and 945 have much better battery life, I guess my point was I don’t think the 745 deserved all the battery life hate that I’ve seen on some channels. Then again Ill also occasionally wear the AW6 and any battery is better than that. I do think at the end of the day I’ll go back to the Fenix 6 for mapping during trail runs and hikes, but man the 745 is the sweet spot for my wrist size. Anyhow you’ve quickly become my favorite channel, keep up the great work!
I have a FR945 and a Fenix 6 Pro and I need to decide between the two. I actually get better gps accuracy from the 945 but originally wanted to go with the Fenix. Now I am not so sure. Thoughts? If you had to pick just one (not based on price....assuming you owned both and the decision was just which would be your daily)
The 945 always gets better GPS signal for me as well. Pretty sure it's due to the plastic case allowing more antenna transmission but I could be wrong. I find myself wearing the 945 more and more these days because of its light weight. That, and when you scratch a black plastic watch... it stays black. Instead of a big shiny streak in your expensive Fenix coating! Thanks for watching.
Great review Dave. Want to upgrade my 645 Music for a few reasons including getting a pace pro compatible watch. Torn between picking a 945 at £375 in the UK or holding out for a 955 at maybe £550 when/if it's released. Stick or twist?
Hard to say since we don't know what the rumored 955 will feature, or how much it will cost.
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks Dave. Just in from a run and my 645 Music is still working well so I'll sit tight and put some more cash in my piggy bank while I wait. Ideally I would love a Sapphire Epix Gen2 but I'd have to hide the price tag from my wife for that one.... 😁
Please review the Tactix Delta 👍🏽
I'll see what I can do!
I love my 745 because I got it for the size & FR stats, it lacks map & has less battery life than 945 but I don’t do Trail Run or anything that needs map & a lot more comfortable to wear to sleep. I presume 955 is launched soon, so they drop the 945 price. All I need is the Sleep Widget to be back on 745 🤷🏻♀️
The sleep widget thing is so weird! I noticed in some other reviewers videos they have the sleep widget? So why doesn't ours? Bizarre. Hopefully they roll it out soon.
@@ChaseTheSummit I think if they reviewed the pre-sale units, the widget was still there but then Garmin pulled it right after the official units were distributed due to bug they needed to fix 🤷🏻♀️ but apparently it takes ages to fix
@@vinads1309 Mine is actually a pre-sale unit! And it still doesn't have it!
@@ChaseTheSummit now that's weird 🙄🤷🏻♀️
My fenix 6 has both sleep and stress widget but after a laptop sync and software update its now gone.😒
Thanks for the video, Dave! Please write your wrist size, just want to image how these both could look on my hand)
Around 16.5cm
Golf courses and maps is something i dont need or want, lighter smaller housing with same tech specs in the 745, yes please. Btw. Adjusted recovery times in the 745 sounds good.
Thanks for watching!
I went for 745, the big bezels on the 945 makes it look like a outdated device imo . Cmon 2021 is right at the corner
Gotta like what you're wearing! Thanks for watching!
The 745 could be more accurate because of the size of the watch. Probably dont "move" around that much because its less heavy and smaller. But you should use a chest strap instead, you know, just for those accurate hr measurements
I have that theory as well when I compare with something like the Fenix 6. Thanks for watching!
The display of the 745 seemed more vivid to me than 945. Just pause on 2:21, 2:27, 2:40 and compare the displays.
That's probably my fault. I forgot to mention that I had a screen protector on the 945 and not on the 745. The screen protector can make the 945 look a little dull.
Happy owner 945 here :)
Excellent!
hello my friend I would like you to tell me your opinion I want to buy a sports watch and I am between two the coros apex pro and the Garmin forerunner 945 which would you choose thank you
Hi there Chase! Nice video!
I got a question though. I run a lot, and I like to run at new places like when I'm on vacation. If I do a run of e.g. 25km, it is difficult to remember by heart which route I chould take. I'm interested in the FR 745. So my questions:
1- Can you load your own routes on the FR 745? (I think you need to create them using an external device?)
2- If the answer is yes to question 1: How does the FR745 guides you to follow the route? Does it only show the path (without topographical map like on the 945), and an arrow of your position and orientation on this path? Does it give directions?
Do you have experience with this and is it easy to follow an own created route?
Thanks a lot!
Pieter
You can add routes to the 745 but there's no baseman... only a breadcrumb trail indicating your route and position relative to it. If you wander off trail the watch will buzz and tell you you're off track. It's quite intuitive and very similar to how the Fenix and 945 watches act only without the basemap and ability to re-route on the fly. Hope that helps!
Hey Dave! I am from Brazil and the prices are quite different here. I watched the video and despite battery for small wrist I believe 745 is more recommended, right? I do triatlon, but not Iron Man, so not so long trainnings.
Have you seen the new Forerunner 255? Check out that before going for the 745!
Had a look at both of these watches, here in Australia the 945 is $999, the 745 is on special at $599, apart from Maps and the lower battery life on the 745, which really is non issue IMO, just ask those who buy the Apple watch! they are the same watch, no contest when it comes to price, the 745 wins hands down.......Don’t make this mistake cuts both ways, enjoy your reviews though, amongst the best👍
Yikes! That's a big price difference.
What shoes You're used for trial ruining? Maybe some reviews?
Footwear reviews are commming! I wear Altra Lone Peak 4.5's for trail running but I've been playing with other brands lately.
It’s like 990 bucks here (cry) in Aus. Would love to go to USA just to get it (but then exchange rate likely huh)
Oof! That's a lot!
I am waiting to upgrade my watch and i was waiting for the 955. Do you think it is a good idea to purchase the 945 right now? Thanks! great video!
I guess it depends. Is what you have working for now? Or do you need something now? If you need something I'd say the 945 is a great purchase at it's current price. If not, the 955 will certainly offer more options when it finally launches... But who knows when! Thanks for watching!
@@ChaseTheSummit i have an approach S60 for golfing, but I'm back in running for a while and I do need more features for running in comparison with what I have.
Got the 945 on prime day. Just went trail running with my Fenix 3 sapphire, and I am slightly sad I am getting the 945. With the sapphire, I feel confident when I am scrambling. But it is $200 more.... *whine whine whine
Throw a screen protector on it! Then you don't need to worry. Thanks for watching.
@@ChaseTheSummit got a screen protector. Also, wow! I feel like a caveman upgrading from the Fenix 3 to the 945. Holy batman, so much metrics and data!
Thanks for helping me decide. Ita gonns be the 945
Nice!
After the latest software update to 945, does it have the daily workout suggestions as in the 745? and is there any GPS accuracy improvement as well?
The 945 got the suggested workout feature but I don't think they've updated the GPS that much. That said, GPS accuracy on the 945 has always been quite good. Thanks for watching!
im thinking about this one, or garming 5/6 o i like so much suunto 7/9 duatlhon or just mountain bike in the "mountain" agood gps and maps track... what do u think ?
I'm partial to the Garmin Ecosystem but the Suunto stuff is good as well. It really comes down to personal preference between the two brands. If you want actual mapping the only option is Garmin at this point as no other brand does it. Hope that helps!
Hi Dave. I consider buying a Garmin (i’m on Polar right now). Could it be that the backlight (and screen) on the 745 is better then on the 945? Would you still buy a 945 today since the 955 is not so far away? Don’t know what to do ;-(
The 945 actually has the nicest screen of any Garmin I've tried strangely. Super bright and contrasty and I've owned a few... They all looked great. Sadly the 745 I have is a bit washed out and has the blueish backlight. This seems like luck of the draw though. I'm looking forward to what the 955 has in store!
Have you tried to use golf mode on 945?
I am thinking about buying 945.
Sorry I can't comment on the golfing capabilities... Maybe someday when I can hit a ball straight 😂
Hardly mentioned the mapping. More info on this please!
Check out my 945 review videos. The 745 has no onboard mapping unfortunately . Thanks for watching!
Do you happen to know if there are any rumors about a fenix 7 coming out in the next year?
I have no insight but I'll bet we see something mid-late 2021.
Looking to update from an Apple Watch. Any idea when the 955 might come out... I would hate to buy the 945 right before the 955 was released.
I have no insight on the future forerunner releases. I'm sure something is coming but you can bet it will cost more money than the currently discounted Forerunner 945. Whether or not the new features will be worth it? who knows!
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks so much.
I'm looking at upgrading to the Garmin 945 from my Hauwei GT 2 smart watch?
I dont have experience with the GT 2 but it seems like more of a smartwatch and less of a sport watch if that's what you're looking for.
Should i buy the fenix 5x sapphire over the fenix 6 and 945 which is about 200-300$ more or just wait for the black friday sale?
Kinda depends on your budget and needs. Obviously the 945 and Fenix 6 have more to offer but as you said cost more. The 5X is still a great watch with a ton of features. The only advantage on the 6 or 945 will be the ability to store music on board, and much longer battery life in both GPS and Standby mode. Hope that helps!
The screen on the 745 looks sharper than the 945 and brighter also. I have the 735 but looking to upgrade. I’m looking at 745 and 945 as that upgrade. I’d want something that will have gps accuracy similar to 735. I did have fenix 6 pro but found the gps was poor. Any thoughts would be appreciated?
They’re actually identical in terms of screen sharpness. In this video the 945 has a screen protector installed which makes it appear a little less clear. The 945 or 745 would both be solid upgrades to the 735! Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks for the reply. In comparison between the COROS apex pro and 745, what could you recommend?
Just found a second hand use, Garmin Forerunner 745, never used for 200 dollars, so had to take that deal. In Denmark a new 745 is 419 dollars, and a 945 is 649 dollars.
So Im ok with a 200 dollar 745 💪
Great deal! Enjoy!
Can you use the 745 to ski? I know there are more dedicated ski watches Garmin provide but I'm looking for something that will do rowing, weights but also want it to be able to accurately measure my speed distance when I'm skiing etc. what do you think?
The 745 will record ski activities and get the job done it just doesn't have more advanced features like the skiview maps.
Hey good watch thanks🙏🏻. These are my options. Garmin 745 with new pro HRM included for £404 or 935 at £400 on its own. What do you think?
Thanks in advance man
The 935 can be found pretty cheap these days. Did you mean the 945?
@@ChaseTheSummit hey, thanks for getting back to me me. Sorry I totally messed that message up. Was meant to read £404 for 745 with the new pro hrm thrown in for free or £400 for the 945.
I Compete in multi-sport duathlon, so no more than 2h of racing. Longest rides are around 4-5h max longest runs 1:30-2h max.
Thanks in advance 🙌🏼
Great video! as usual, are you going to wear again the Fenix 6? hahah kidding, I'd prefer the 945 rather then 745 it seems to me a more robust watch, so I'll agree with your conclusion. I still prefer the Fenix 6 :)
The Fenix 6 still has a special place in my heart haha. But the 945 is so much lighter and sleeker for every day wear. Thanks for watching!
I doubt whether I should go for the 245 or wait until garmin comes with a new model since it has been out for 1 year. Any idea when Garmin will come up with a new model?
Tough call! If you need something now, there are a lot of great options.
Cheers mate 🍻
Cheers!
How are 745 and 945 for hiking?
Hi What’ your opinion on the Garmin Forerunner 645 music? Do you you if it’’s possible to use the GF 645 to make an outgoing call to an Iphone?
Thanks
You can answer/decline calls on Garmins but they cannot respond to text messages because it's a limitation from apple. The Forerunner 645 looks like a great device but I don't have any first hand experience with it!
What would you recommend for hiking? I'm a quiet clumsy, my Fenix 3 HR has quite a few bruises eheheh
For hiking I like having mapping on my wrist. For that the Forerunner 945, or Fenix 6 are great options. The 745 is more designed for Triathlon, running, and swimming. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks 😊 yeah I guess the 945 or the Fenix 6s, I was watching your review about it and everything that you said, makes sense. My Fenix 3HR is a big watch definitely. Something a bit smaller will be better.
Hi there, are you able to tell me which activities do 745 vs 945 these track? I do running(but not only), trail running, HIIT, indoor cycling and strength training. Will that have certain functions too? Currently the 745 is in sale (AUS), half price and I try to convince myself to try the watch with less battery capabilities. Worth it? Help please:-)!
The 945 and 745 have the same activity list. There's everything from Running, Cycling, and HIIT included. The 945's advantage is longer battery life and internal mapping that the 745 does not have.
do you mind revealing what's this piece of music you have as a background from 7:52 onwards? thanks

@@ChaseTheSummit thank you! it's great music
