Hong Kong 🇭🇰 has been very hot at 34-35 degrees Celsius these few weeks and every morning when I go out on my walks to search for birds, I don’t see them, but only hear them in the dense vegetation in the thickest of bushes. They stay cool by hiding in the dense vegetation, and so the only birds I see normally are the European Sparrows and Spotted Doves along with the regulars Red-whiskered Bulbuls and Chinese Bulbuls.
Great video. One bird that I hope to see here in Argentina before it's too late is the Yellow Cardinal (Gubernatrix cristata). Sadly it's becoming more and more rare mainly due to illegal pet trading. Less than 2000 are estimated to be in the wild, with their numbers declining.
Those were great birds you mentioned. I saw a red-cockaded woodpecker in the backyard on one of the pine trees. They are endangered so not many of them are left.
I wondered if you would include the ivory-billed woodpecker. But it makes sense you didn't since it is considered extinct, not rare. Nicely done video.
Actually it is still not considered officially extinct yet! It's on the table though. If it is out there still, it's the rarest bird in the US for sure!
Hey you should try doing a movie review like rio or the big year, great video!
That's a great idea! I think I'll do a video on 5 movies that birders would love or something like that!
@@brighteyedbirding oh yeah smart
Good morning from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. PLEASE remember to drink lots of water in this heat in Southern California.
Good morning! Yep that was my big mistake. I forgot the water and then got sick because of it! I will have plenty of water moving forward!

Yes the birds really stick to the trees once the sun gets hot! I would try going even earlier maybe before sunrise to catch them in action.
In Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR, we only have the Spotted Dove. And the only two crows 🐦⬛ we have are the White-collared Crow and the Large-billed Crow.

Horrible to hear about these declining birds! Crossing my fingers that you get to see it!!

Thanks! Oh wow! What a great bird to have in your yard! Great luck!
Sweet vid! I can’t help but think of the ivory billed woodpecker when talking about rare birds. Really hoping it’s still out there somewhere.
I agree with you. I really hope it's still out there somewhere as well!
