Personally don't like the Lemats niether fir pvp ...the fire rate is to slow and the shotgun option doesn't make for it niether...but if we're talking about a free aim fight here then I would easily choose them over any

The cattleman’s revolver shouldn’t even be considered a weapon on the train robbery mission early in the game I once hit an enemy 8 times before he died
My favorite weapons are 1: lumbago (it makes me immune to work) 2: the African tribe ( they think I’m a god so they fight for me) 3: Rufus ( he is only one who respects his elders and doesn’t make fun of disabled people with lumbago)
This would've been better if you rated each class of weapon against each other, imo. I mean, how do you even compare the carcano vs a varmint rifle. They are both great for their intended use case, but it's like comparing a F350 vs a Civic Type-R. Would love to see you re-rank each weapon in each category, so all revolvers (could combine pistols with revolvers), then all repeaters, rifles, shotguns, wildcard weapons (ie bow, varmint, melee, throwables, etc). Not a bad list. Here's my personal ranking: 1. Lancaster Repeater - hands down my favorite weapon in the game. Dissent aim, good range, and looks beautiful. 2. Schofield Revolver - my go to side arm for Arthur. It looks good and the sound it makes when you shot is satisfying. 3. Pump Action Shotgun - best shotgun in the game. Has surprisingly good range and takes people out in seconds. 4. Springfield Rifle - my hunting rifle of choice. Works amazing on many types of animals. 5. Rolling Block Rifle - my go to sniper of choice. Not much else to say. 6. Bow - very versatile and useful 7. LeMat Revolver - my second favorite revolver in the game. It's a good gun and the shotgun shell is surprisingly useful. 8. Varmint Rifle - has its purpose and i got hunting a lot so it gets it use. 9. Evans Repeater - my second favorite repeater in the game. Has a shitload of bullets and the sound it makes when you pull the trigger is badass. 10. Sawed-off Shotgun - i like using at the start of the game when we don't have the second holster. I have one custom outfit that is used with this gun. 11. Double Barrel Shotgun - nothing like massacring a town with this gun. My second favorite shotgun. 12. M1899 Pistol - it's the only on of the pistols that i actually really like. Fast fire rate and reload speed, plus this in gold look sexy with black engravings and white grip looks sexy. 13. Bolt Action Rifle - I've started to use it more frequently and i really like. Good gun all around. 14. Dynamite - this is just fun to use. Seeing people get torn apart is brutal. 15. Lasso - it's fun to hogtie and drag people around but other weapons are better. 16. Carcano Rifle - a fantastic sniper but not my favorite. 17. Carbine Repeater - it's ok for a starter repeater - but is easily outclassed by others. 18. Repeating Shotgun - it's a good shotgun but others are better. 20. Fire Bottle - i don't use them a lot. I do like setting fire to the Slave hunter's house thought. 21. Hatchet/Cleaver/Tomahawk - almost never used them unless it was a challenge. 22. Cattleman Revolver - good tutorial side arm but others are better. 23. Double Action Revolver - it's a good gun but I don't use it enough. It's got a awesome grip through, Gunslinger Ebony grip. 24. Definitely have the same top 2. Lancaster and Schofield. My other pistol is the sawed off shotgun. But I hate the Springfield and use the Bolt Action instead. Also I always use the semi auto shotgun, why is the pump action better? I'll change it if it is.
Bolt action is objectively better than Springfield. Having the Carcano that low is a crime. The rare rolling block is actually worse than a fully upgraded rolling block.

The basic rundown of how I get it. 1st Revolver: During the mission Paying A Social Call, play the mission as normal until John says "Okay, now what? We're at the perimeter". When he says that run back up the hill to where your horse is. Get on your horse and ride down the path on the road, staying as far away from the enemies as possible. When you see the DOTTED PATH, go to tress on the path and dismount your horse. Drink a Potent Health Cure and don't have your guns drawn(basically use your fist). Run towards the shack wait for the guy to pull out his gun and disarm him. Lead him towards John and he will disarm John. Pick up the gun and you got the revolver. PLEASE NOTE: this does take time and may not work on your first attempt. It took me a few attempts before I got it. The video I used was by, Tom Tofurkey. 2nd Revolver: Make sure you have the off-hand holster or it doesn't count. Before starting Pouring Forth Oil 1, stand next to the broken down wagon and equip your bow. It's only possible to shot the wheel so use dynamite arrows to blow it up(if you have enough health or use a health cure you'll survive). Run back up to the destroyed wheel and you'll have more space to to shot. Equip your fire arrows and crouch against the wheel. Use deadeye to lock on to John(recommend taking a tonic for it). Shot the arrow, john will drop his gun and you can pick it up. The video I used was by: CosmicX I hope this helps. I tried to be as through as possible and giving you video references to use.
Due to deadeye existing, how cheap it is to restore it to full, and any head shot with any weapon is an instant kill. All weapons out side of hunt are the best weapon TBH. At that point it's Cool Factor and how quickly you can shoot.
Actually, can get it in chapter 2 you could get a worn version of the gun or in chapter 3 you could take it for free by helping the guy trapped in the gunsmith’s basement
Most of the early/mid game weapons are the best tbh. The later ones are just novelty for collection. M1899 is probably the only usefull and meaningful gun you get late in the game, all the other good weapons are in the 1/3 in the game.

I loved that the semi auto pistol (c93) was included, used it almost exclusively since i got it even though there are better guns. It was my sidearm when i played battlefield 1.
My top favourites that I use are 1.Springfield rifle 2. Lichfield repeater 3. Pump action shotgun 4. M1899 pistol, and 5. Lemat Revolver. Springfield just works so well for me. I use it to hunt, snipe from far away, and use it for mid range battles
Litchfield and LeMat are the only weapons I enjoy using as they deal lots of damage and I feel ammo capacity and fire rate doesn’t matter in this game.
Volcanic pistol at bottom 22??? Man is out of his mind, or never used the weapon! Dual wield them and you have 2x the firepower of repeaters, and they have max accuracy to boot on it! Its the best weapon in the game, for any situation. Not only it has 100% accuracy with the right bullets, you dual wield them for excellent 1hit kill firerate, but also they are handguns, which means that you ALWAYS actually have them with you! When game throws you into a mission, you often notice that youre forced to have some shitty rifle or shotgun as your long arm weapons, or you forgot to pick up your rifles from the horse... nope, that doesnt happen with Volcanics. You actually always have them and can rely that game doesnt screw you up.
favorite weapon by far is cattleman. 6 shots is enough if you remember that headshots exist, and i find it hilarious mercing everyone i meet with the most basic firearm in the entire game. dual weild with double action to hold both the gunslinger grip and the hero grip, really cool to have polar opposite honor grips used at the same time side by side. i almost never use any other weapon except those two revolvers when dealing with humans, no matter the distance or number of enemies. they hold up well if you have some skill

Just for general information on guns here since you kept saying "in the chamber" for rounds loaded into a gun. For anything that has ammo load into a tube it is being loaded into a tube magazine (so saying in the tube or magazine should be sufficient) which is all of the pump and lever guns where stuff like the bolt actions and some of the semi auto pistols have internal magazines (making saying in the magazine fine) and I'm pretty sure a couple use box magazines which is what detachable magazines common for modern guns are. The chamber of a gun is what holds a cartridge before firing and is supposed to only have one bullet in the chamber at a time before firing (if more then one end up in at the same time it is a double feed jamming the gun causing a malfunction). So in short, you could have been saying in the magazine, in the tube, or just in the gun. There's a big difference when you do and do not have a chamber loaded particularly in real life as it's what determines whether pulling the trigger will fire a bullet. This is mostly just for general information to help inform people on how firearms work in general and to help in describing these weapons accurately.
The varmint is hardly niche, in online or if you’re trying to completely the game it will very likely be the most used weapon. Plus it’s funny to make humans stumble around. The double barrel and sawn is simultaneously the worst against npcs but the single best weapon against players.
Hunting knife is way better than you think. It’s great for people who know how to use it. You just probably don’t do a lot of stealth killing. The best weapon in the game hands down is the bow with poison arrows and it’s not even close. You can 1 shot anything from a legendary animal to an NPC, and you get your arrow back every time!
Best setup; 2x Volcanic pistols and dual wield them. They do everything that repeater rifles do, but with almost 2x the firerate. Same accuracy and power as repeaters have, but you have 2x of them for 2x the kills in the same time, 16 bullets too. Bolt action rifle with medium scope as hunting/sniping weapon. Carcanos and all where you cant turn scope off are trash tier. Pump action shotgun or a bow as an extra.
For me its: 1. Lancaster repeater, its just great 2. LeMat revolver, ton of bullets, the shotgun cartridge, and powerful 3. The bow, because of the versatility 4. Repeater shotgun, most cap. Of shotguns, and i just love the repeating 5. Varmint rifle, its niche, but its perfect for that 6. Schofield revolver, slow but powerfull! 7. Semi auto shotgun, five bullets, crazy speed and good accuracy 8. Bolt Action, you can kill anything with it! 9. Sawed of shotgun, sidearm shotgun??? Yeah! 10. Double-barrelled shotgun, its just so fucking powerful 11. Volcano pistol, amazing range, powerful and just nice, and the only pistol with properly fitting in both holsters 12. Pump action shotgun, I don't know, i dont feel it that much 13. Dynamite, useful in raids, useful in combat, and come on, blowing up stuff is fun! 14. Springfield, just perfect for hubtin big game 15. Evans repeater, the ammo but its ugly as fuck 16. M1899 pistol, looks nice and kills greatly, but looks to modern and as if it would fall out of the holster with every move 17. Litchfield repeater, it got power and 16 bullets is nice enough, but it just isnt that great, to slow and i just dont like the looks 18. axes, tomahawk, cleaver, nice when dealing with small groups 19. Throwing knives, are crazy effective for sneaky play 20. Carcano rifle, its better because you have a Capacity, and not having to reload much, but i don't need snipers in the west, i want close to medium range 21. Double action revolver, it seems to not have that much power and is empty way to soon 22. Mauser pistols, is just to week... 23. Hunting knive ( and i wouldn't compare it with the machete or the pirate sword, it has an actual use ...) 24. Fire bottles, yeah ok but no, dynanite or fire arrows all the time 25. Cattleman and variations, nice to start but only for that... 26. Lasso, i dont use it as a weapon 27. Rolling block rifle, only one shot and then rekoading a sniper, no way 28. Repeater carbine, its the worst atarting weapon, just not enough power 29. Semi automatic pistol, ugly as fuck, some power but just no... 30. Machete, sword, just useless
The varmint rifle actually has the potential to be the best gun in the game if used correctly. It’s a .22 so headshots are always a one shot and if you just get headshots the fire rate and larger magazine make it really good
The Litchfield is supposed to be the AK of the repeaters in rdr2, as many of you know the repeater is based on the Henry rifle which was the first lever action rifle to be issued to the military and mass-produced to civilians that's why in the game is a bad gun
Also you missed the high roller revolver and the gunslinger weapons. Billy Midnight has a really cool pistol. Also Algernons revolver is the nicest looking sidearm in the game
Yep I'd flag some keywords for him clips, magazines, cylinders, cartridges or rounds, to get fancy the safe way to load a true saa revolver with the load skip load for 5 and hammer resting on empty chamber. But that's more real world if it doesn't have a transfer bar safety system abs has firing pin on hammer design etc.
I personally love the varmint rifle especially when grinding the hunter contracts. I always have it equipped and I find it relatively affective against enemies if you aim for the head.
The litchfield is secretly the best repeater in the game there’s a small glitch only a few know you aim down the barrel of the rifle fire off a short and then go into hip fire for some reason it makes the rifle shoot faster than the others

Why crap on revolvers? The Double action revolver isn’t that bad. The fast fire rate is awesome. From mid to close range with the right ammo and upgrades the gun shreds. The Schofield is my favorite but the double action revolver is a close second. Both S tier weapons in my opinion.
All weapons are s tier if you aim for the head with that my online setup is two lemats a lancaster and semi auto shot gun then for backup bolt action or carcano depends on the mood. Lemats are awesome if you control your shots the shot gun barrels have saved me many times

Gonna have to disagree with the LeMat placement it’s a 9 round gun and most of the time I’m using deadeye and just hit the head and if you duel wield them it’s very effective
It's a 10 rounder. 9 are 42 cal ball and center is 18 gauge shotgun. In irl from what I recall modern ones switched to more available calibers for easy of production parts etc. 9 shot cylinder yes but don't forget the shotgun barrels

The Litchfield Repeater is very effective when used correctly, but it's outclassed by the Lancaster Repeater in almost every single way.
I like it better than the Lancaster.

As a big fan of John Brown and Fistful of Frags, I'm always disappointed that this game didn't have a Sharps rifle.

I think the Litchfield repeater is ok. You just unlock it too late on. You shouldn't get it so late into the game

My top favourites that I use are 1.Springfield rifle 2. Lichfield repeater 3. Pump action shotgun 4. M1899 pistol, and 5. Lemat Revolver.
Springfield just works so well for me. I use it to hunt, snipe from far away, and use it for mid range battles

Litchfield and LeMat are the only weapons I enjoy using as they deal lots of damage and I feel ammo capacity and fire rate doesn’t matter in this game.
Volcanic pistol at bottom 22??? Man is out of his mind, or never used the weapon! Dual wield them and you have 2x the firepower of repeaters, and they have max accuracy to boot on it! Its the best weapon in the game, for any situation.
Not only it has 100% accuracy with the right bullets, you dual wield them for excellent 1hit kill firerate, but also they are handguns, which means that you ALWAYS actually have them with you! When game throws you into a mission, you often notice that youre forced to have some shitty rifle or shotgun as your long arm weapons, or you forgot to pick up your rifles from the horse... nope, that doesnt happen with Volcanics. You actually always have them and can rely that game doesnt screw you up.
favorite weapon by far is cattleman. 6 shots is enough if you remember that headshots exist, and i find it hilarious mercing everyone i meet with the most basic firearm in the entire game. dual weild with double action to hold both the gunslinger grip and the hero grip, really cool to have polar opposite honor grips used at the same time side by side. i almost never use any other weapon except those two revolvers when dealing with humans, no matter the distance or number of enemies. they hold up well if you have some skill

Just for general information on guns here since you kept saying "in the chamber" for rounds loaded into a gun. For anything that has ammo load into a tube it is being loaded into a tube magazine (so saying in the tube or magazine should be sufficient) which is all of the pump and lever guns where stuff like the bolt actions and some of the semi auto pistols have internal magazines (making saying in the magazine fine) and I'm pretty sure a couple use box magazines which is what detachable magazines common for modern guns are.
The chamber of a gun is what holds a cartridge before firing and is supposed to only have one bullet in the chamber at a time before firing (if more then one end up in at the same time it is a double feed jamming the gun causing a malfunction). So in short, you could have been saying in the magazine, in the tube, or just in the gun. There's a big difference when you do and do not have a chamber loaded particularly in real life as it's what determines whether pulling the trigger will fire a bullet. This is mostly just for general information to help inform people on how firearms work in general and to help in describing these weapons accurately.
You can quick draw any revolver by slowly holding the trigger or just blind shooting without aiming

The varmint is hardly niche, in online or if you’re trying to completely the game it will very likely be the most used weapon. Plus it’s funny to make humans stumble around.
The double barrel and sawn is simultaneously the worst against npcs but the single best weapon against players.
Hunting knife is way better than you think. It’s great for people who know how to use it. You just probably don’t do a lot of stealth killing.
The best weapon in the game hands down is the bow with poison arrows and it’s not even close. You can 1 shot anything from a legendary animal to an NPC, and you get your arrow back every time!
Best setup;
2x Volcanic pistols and dual wield them. They do everything that repeater rifles do, but with almost 2x the firerate. Same accuracy and power as repeaters have, but you have 2x of them for 2x the kills in the same time, 16 bullets too.
Bolt action rifle with medium scope as hunting/sniping weapon. Carcanos and all where you cant turn scope off are trash tier.
Pump action shotgun or a bow as an extra.
For me its:
1. Lancaster repeater, its just great
2. LeMat revolver, ton of bullets, the shotgun cartridge, and powerful
3. The bow, because of the versatility
4. Repeater shotgun, most cap. Of shotguns, and i just love the repeating
5. Varmint rifle, its niche, but its perfect for that
6. Schofield revolver, slow but powerfull!
7. Semi auto shotgun, five bullets, crazy speed and good accuracy
8. Bolt Action, you can kill anything with it!
9. Sawed of shotgun, sidearm shotgun??? Yeah!
10. Double-barrelled shotgun, its just so fucking powerful
11. Volcano pistol, amazing range, powerful and just nice, and the only pistol with properly fitting in both holsters
12. Pump action shotgun, I don't know, i dont feel it that much
13. Dynamite, useful in raids, useful in combat, and come on, blowing up stuff is fun!
14. Springfield, just perfect for hubtin big game
15. Evans repeater, the ammo but its ugly as fuck
16. M1899 pistol, looks nice and kills greatly, but looks to modern and as if it would fall out of the holster with every move
17. Litchfield repeater, it got power and 16 bullets is nice enough, but it just isnt that great, to slow and i just dont like the looks
18. axes, tomahawk, cleaver, nice when dealing with small groups
19. Throwing knives, are crazy effective for sneaky play
20. Carcano rifle, its better because you have a Capacity, and not having to reload much, but i don't need snipers in the west, i want close to medium range
21. Double action revolver, it seems to not have that much power and is empty way to soon
22. Mauser pistols, is just to week...
23. Hunting knive ( and i wouldn't compare it with the machete or the pirate sword, it has an actual use ...)
24. Fire bottles, yeah ok but no, dynanite or fire arrows all the time
25. Cattleman and variations, nice to start but only for that...
26. Lasso, i dont use it as a weapon
27. Rolling block rifle, only one shot and then rekoading a sniper, no way

The varmint rifle actually has the potential to be the best gun in the game if used correctly. It’s a .22 so headshots are always a one shot and if you just get headshots the fire rate and larger magazine make it really good

The Litchfield is supposed to be the AK of the repeaters in rdr2, as many of you know the repeater is based on the Henry rifle which was the first lever action rifle to be issued to the military and mass-produced to civilians that's why in the game is a bad gun
Also you missed the high roller revolver and the gunslinger weapons. Billy Midnight has a really cool pistol. Also Algernons revolver is the nicest looking sidearm in the game

Yep I'd flag some keywords for him clips, magazines, cylinders, cartridges or rounds, to get fancy the safe way to load a true saa revolver with the load skip load for 5 and hammer resting on empty chamber. But that's more real world if it doesn't have a transfer bar safety system abs has firing pin on hammer design etc.

I personally love the varmint rifle especially when grinding the hunter contracts. I always have it equipped and I find it relatively affective against enemies if you aim for the head.
The litchfield is secretly the best repeater in the game there’s a small glitch only a few know you aim down the barrel of the rifle fire off a short and then go into hip fire for some reason it makes the rifle shoot faster than the others

Why crap on revolvers? The Double action revolver isn’t that bad. The fast fire rate is awesome. From mid to close range with the right ammo and upgrades the gun shreds. The Schofield is my favorite but the double action revolver is a close second. Both S tier weapons in my opinion.
All weapons are s tier if you aim for the head with that my online setup is two lemats a lancaster and semi auto shot gun then for backup bolt action or carcano depends on the mood. Lemats are awesome if you control your shots the shot gun barrels have saved me many times

Gonna have to disagree with the LeMat placement it’s a 9 round gun and most of the time I’m using deadeye and just hit the head and if you duel wield them it’s very effective
It's a 10 rounder. 9 are 42 cal ball and center is 18 gauge shotgun. In irl from what I recall modern ones switched to more available calibers for easy of production parts etc. 9 shot cylinder yes but don't forget the shotgun barrels
