I’ve been reading great stuff about the Snapdragon Gen 8 Elite. It might be the most hyped up flagship SoC ever by Qualcomm. It’s on the 3nm process and breaks the 4 GHz barrier. I saw improvements of up to 30%-45% when we normally see 15%-20% gains yearly. This seems more hyped up than the Snapdragon 800 in 2013 and 835 in 2017. Both were fantastic SoCs, btw. The 801 in 2014 was one of three variants of the 800. Samsung may go Exynos next year with their foldables while the S25 series will get first dibs with the Gen 8 Elite (formerly 8 Gen 4) with Qualcomm’s new Oryon CPU. I’m thinking Samsung will use their own Exynos because Qualcomm charges a lot when OEMs uses their flagship SoCs. This is why Pixels don’t go up in price like the Flip 6 did using 8 Gen 3. Is the 8 Elite so good that Qualcomm changed the name to Elite after being referred as Gen 4 prior? The cost of using the 8 Elite? $190, a 20% increase from the 8 Gen 3. The latest Razr+ 2024 is probably still only on the 3 year OS update plan. So I suggest to wait for the Razr+ 2025 to get the 5 years and the newer 8 Elite chip if Motorola plans to use it. Motorola has never used a current flagship for any of their Razrs except the 2022 which stayed in China. The Razr 2019 has the 710. Razr 5G has the 765G. The Razr+ 2023 has the 8+ Gen 1 which was a 2022 flagship SoC that the Flip 4 used 9 months earlier. The Razr+ 2024 uses the 8S Gen 3 which is underclocked compared to the 8 Gen 3 and barely an improvement over the efficient Gen 2 found on the S23 Ultra from last year. Actually, the 8 Gen 2 has higher teraflops than the 8S Gen 3 and can download and upload faster on data speeds. And Gen 2 has higher clock speeds on their GPU. Will Motorola finally not cheap out and use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for their Razr+ 2025 or will they still use the 8 (no S) Gen 3 from this year? Samsung usually has first dibs on Qualcomm chips. It's almost 2025 and we still don't have anything close to actual console games like they're having on the fruit side, even if the games themselves are running in 720p, but they're still there and playable.

The main issues are the temperature, all consoles, and pcs. They have good quality fans with proper cooling design, while with a tiny phone, it's quite difficult to install one, also the market aswell many won't buy paid games on mobile that's why developers usually make the games free with in game microtransactions so it's a waste of money to develop or optimize console level games to mobile currently, until a mobile device is capable of running games at smooth fps without thermal issues we won't be seeing games that level just yet but soon
Well at least having the games on your ecosystem future proofs you for when the chips catch up. I'm sure Res evil 4 will look great on a future iphone 17 or 18, and if they prove the concept and publishers decide to release more day and date games on iOS they could take a chunk out of consoles for sure.

The issue here is snapdragon even though gave huge gains in performance on chip level the software optimisation is another story for the phones they use snapdragon.Apple and google will always have better advantage as they have hardware to software integrations and deep OS level optimisation for years to fine tune.

Besides the terrible name, I'm really worried about throttling. Six performance cores which have a higher clock speed than the 8 Gen 3, and on top two more cores clocked at 4.32GHz! I know that this is the peak speed, but efficiency scales down with peak clock speed and I cannot imagine all those cores working at full speed for more than 5 secs

Wby S24 Ultra is slower than Gen 3, when it USES the Gen 3 and supposedly a bit oveclocked version?
Only the prime core X4 is overclocked while the rest of A720 are slightly underclocked than normal Gen 3
The one in the S24 is customized for the S24 🤷🏽♂️
Their tuning sucked this time even the smaller S24 with SD8G3 performs better than S24U. Whole lineup throttling to 60% performance.

Besides the terrible name, I'm really worried about throttling. Six performance cores which have a higher clock speed than the 8 Gen 3, and on top two more cores clocked at 4.32GHz!
I know that this is the peak speed, but efficiency scales down with peak clock speed and I cannot imagine all those cores working at full speed for more than 5 secs

Phone's stock software doesn't even uses 60% of CPU and it only utilises 40% of GPU the entire time CPU GPU frequencies have a limit they fluctuate a lot
So there will be zero heating and higher clocked cores will do the same task more effortlessly
My poco F5 7+ gen 2 never runs on full power
In custom ROMs
I ran it on full power turned on max clock speeds
Turned off all efficiency cores
And the battery in gaming was same
While Performing normal tasks it was almost same
Because CPU was not running at full power on normal usage
It was running around 70% on the ping 120 fps
Other phones run on 80-100% like mediatek ones
They push all CPU cores at once 😂

@@Kirmo13 check the video i share. They are already tested and the result is amazing even though it's just a unit test. 42° 60 fps genshin impact and only draw 4.4Watt (only 0.1W more than the new iphone without any lag!)
